Can Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Roof Rack # MPG115MD Fit Ford Escape OEM Crossbars
Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/03/2024 >
Question:
How much clearance do I need between my roof and the bottom of my crossbar? I have a 2021 Ford Escape with factory crossbars and they are relatively low close to roof when mounted. I tried some J racks, but did not have sufficient clearance.

Hey Georgina, that's hard to say as it will depend on the thickness of the crossbars but due to how this installs I would believe this would still fit a vehicle with lower profile crossbars. If you check out the picture I attached you can see what I mean.

Hey Georgina, how did things work out with the Stax Pro2 kayak rack on your Escape’s low-profile crossbars? It’d be great to hear if you ended up getting enough clearance for your setup. Your update could make it easier for the next person with a similar roof design.
