Recommended Solution to Carry 3 Kayaks on Ford Expedition

I have a solution for you, but the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier # LR54FR is only designed to carry a single boat; this carrier will hold up to 2 standup paddle boards, but is limited to a single boat. If your goal is to carry 3 boats on your Expedition and have factory crossbars you may be limited on space, so you'll want to compare the width of the boats combined with the available space on your crossbars.

To maximize the available space you'll likely want a post style carrier for 2 of the boats and a J-style carrier for the other. I recommend using the Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Post Style - Folding - 2 Kayaks # MPG115MD, which comes with foam blocks to protect the boats from the crossbars and tie down straps to secure the boats. This kit is designed for use with kayaks 50-lbs or less (each).

Then, the J-style carrier I recommend is the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier - Folding - Universal Mount # e98878, which is a really nice value and comes with padded tie down straps included. This carrier has a capacity of 150-lbs, so you'll likely want to use this for the heaviest boat, but it's a great option that won't break the bank.

These carriers will fit on crossbars up to 3-1/8" wide by 1-1/2" tall, so you'll want to confirm the dimensions on the bars, but these will fit on most factory crossbars since they're typically no larger than 3-1/8" x 1-1/2".
