The receiver on our Kubota is kind of tucked up under the bed. With the shorter hitches, it is hard to get to quickly to pull the clevis and drop a feed trough. This is especially important when you have 100 hungry momma cows breathing down your neck looking for more grain. This solved the concern by getting the hitch out where I could quickly get to it.

Thank goodness for an extended length ball mount. I recently purchased a new 2 horse bumperpull trailer, and the tail gate was interfering with the jack post. Not acceptable! I looked for the highest quality extended length ball mount and found it with this product. Problem solved see pic. ARRIVED IN 2 DAYS! Thank you eTrailer.

Ball mount is awesome! Just what I needed, my aftermarket bumper has a long step that wont allow a normal hitch to work. It sits underneath the step, the only thing that would of work is a ball mount with more of a drop. Then my trailer would of dragged on the ground. I don't have a lift on my F150. I forgot to take some before photos but I have the after photos and its just awesome. Hope this helps!

I was looking for an extended ballmount for my dually as a regualr size ballmount with a 2" drop would not clear my heavy duty bumper. I have a 6" drop but it is too low for my new car hauler trailer. After finding this Brophy ball mount, BH20, I ordered it right away. I was pleasantly surprised to receive it in only a few days. I expected to get it in about a week. This ballmount is just as described. Solid, heavy-duty(10K lbs. with a 1K lb. tongue weight) and fits great. See my before and after pics. The extension is enough to clear my bumper while using a 2" drop. Thanks, etrailer!

Great ball mount. Reached out the perfect distance for our big rear bumper, while keeping it to a class IV rating. Only used it a couple times but so far it's perfect for our needs and the quality doesn't appear to be cheap. Thanks etrailer for quick shipment and excellent service.

Great mount, excellent quality and price, we ours to move a 34ft rigid inflatable boat on a dual axle trailer (GTW 8,500lbs) around South Florida. Never a problem and choice and service from etrailer couldn't be easier-thanks!

Quality mount. The long shank solved issue of limited tight turning with spare tire mounted on V of trailer.

Super heavy duty. About 4" longer than a regular hitch!

Solid, no issues after consistently using for over one year. Extended length ball mount allow for door opening without obstruction and has no pulling/handling issues.

Haven't used this yet, but the part looks great and is very hefty. Unfortunately, this replaced another item I was interested in as that item was out of stock. The other item had a 1" inch shank diameter and this has a 1+1/4" inch shank diameter, so now I have to find a new ball locally for my trip tomorrow.

This ball mount has been very handy, we tow a enclosed trailer behind our Motorhome and with a shorter ball mount our trailer on tight turns would touch the back corners of the motorhome. But haven’t had that problem any more with this mount, the couple extra inches in length solved our problem. Plus with a weight rating of 10k lbs it has plenty of strength to handle our trailer being loaded up with all our toys (atv & side by side)

I bought a trailer to haul my wife's car from New Hampshire to Florida in the fall and back in the spring. Everything worked great except my truck tailgate hit the crank on the trailer and could not open fully. I needed a longer than standard ball mount. Looked at all the usual suspect without luck. Finally I found Dena at etrailer, a live and helpful person on the phone. How old style! I explained my problem and she located the perfect product and got it to me fast. The ball is now about 4" further from the end of the truck and my problem is solved. Thanks!

- BH20
by:

Just what I wanted. I've been using it to tow a 2 axle trailer weighing 10k. It has been perfect. Before this long ball mount I would get a small amount of deflection using a 10k rated hollow tube mount. With this one, even at the same 10k rating there is no deflection of the solid steel bar. I have a camper on the truck that fits in the bed with no over hang, I like to keep the custom trailer away from the camper Jack's when making tight turns. This is the best I've found.

Just what I needed to be able to let the tailgate down when pulling a trailer. This hitch allows you to maintain tongue weight as well as trailer weight.

- BH20
by:

I recently discovered my old Ballmount only had a 5,000 capacity. My bumper pull horse trailer weghs that empty! (3 horse 4Star extra wide and tall). I need the extra longballmount to accommodate my 8.5 ft slide in camper on the truck. Etrailer sent me one so fast...I have seldomly experienced such great service! The ballmount is solid and I can now pull my trailer without worrying. Hope to add a picture when I get the trailer hooked up.

- BH20
by:

The products were perfect for my use. I can now drop my tailgate while the trailer is hooked up. However, more importantly the service was excellent. I recieved the order earlier than expected thanks to a free shipping upgrade. I will not buy my towing and trailer needs anywhere else.

by:

Very pleased I purchased the hitch. It works great. Seams to help backing a trailer with a short tongue. Thanks

The receiver on my Newmar Rv is set back under the rv and my stock receiver would not work. The extended shaft on this hitch allows me to pull a trailer.

Ask the Experts about this Brophy Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • Longer Ball Mount that Could Clear Out Past Rear of Jeep Wrangler Spare
We do have longer ball mounts like the Brophy part # BH20 which is 13-1/4 inch long from hitch pin hole to ball hole center. This has a 10,000 lb towing weight capacity and would easily clear the rear spare of your Wrangler as well. For a 2 inch ball then to use with this we have the part # A-90.

This ball mount fits 2 inch x 2 inch hitch receivers, has a solid shank, and has an overall length of 17 inches. • Why Does Ball Mount BH20 Have a Solid Shank While Ball Mount 2923 is Hollow
When the shank of a ball mount or hitch-mount accessory - say a bike rack for example - is solid rather than hollow this typically means it will be stronger. It also means it will be heavier. The Brophy Ball Mount # BH20 has a solid steel shank which is part of why it has a very substantial 10,000-lb weight rating. The roughly similar Draw-Tite ball mount # 2923 offers a 7500-lb weight rating; this part has a hollow shank. Hollow shanks also allow use of a locking anti-rattle device...

  • Will Using a Longer Ball Mount Put Too Much Stress on the Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Dodge Ram
The Brophy ball mount # BH20 is not too much longer than standard length ball mounts so the extra stress it would put on the trailer hitch would be minimal if at all. As long as the trailer hitch on your 2006 Dodge Ram has a tongue weight capacity to handle the trailer tongue weight and the 7500 pound gross trailer weight you will be good to go.

  • Recommended Solution for 2008 GMC Sierra with 2" Hitch Needing Extended Ball Mount
I have a solution for you, and the issue you'll encounter when you start using hitch extensions is that the further the weight gets away from the hitch, it reduces the tongue weight of the hitch by 50% or more. For that reason I don't recommend using any type of supplemental extension that the ball mount would then fit into. I recommend simply using a ball mount that is a bit longer than normal like the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs #...
