I bought this so I could lower my tailgate to let my dog out without my tailgate hitting the top of my jack on my camper. It works just like I hoped it would. 437886

Very well made. You'll need to muscle up to carry it around, nothing like the old tube type hitch. Moved the tongue jack back good enough to clear my tailgate. 399508

The trailer receiver hitch was as advertised, very stout and more than able to handle my needs. I will check with you guy's first from now on. Thank You Anthony 395822

The receiver on my Newmar Rv is set back under the rv and my stock receiver would not work. The extended shaft on this hitch allows me to pull a trailer. 397916

Great ball mount. Reached out the perfect distance for our big rear bumper, while keeping it to a class IV rating. Only used it a couple times but so far it's perfect for our needs and the quality doesn't appear to be cheap. Thanks etrailer for quick shipment and excellent service. 516929

Ball mount is awesome! Just what I needed, my aftermarket bumper has a long step that wont allow a normal hitch to work. It sits underneath the step, the only thing that would of work is a ball mount with more of a drop. Then my trailer would of dragged on the ground. I don't have a lift on my F150. I forgot to take some before photos but I have the after photos and its just awesome. Hope this helps! 514228

Haven't used this yet, but the part looks great and is very hefty. Unfortunately, this replaced another item I was interested in as that item was out of stock. The other item had a 1" inch shank diameter and this has a 1+1/4" inch shank diameter, so now I have to find a new ball locally for my trip tomorrow. 857281

I bought a trailer to haul my wife's car from New Hampshire to Florida in the fall and back in the spring. Everything worked great except my truck tailgate hit the crank on the trailer and could not open fully. I needed a longer than standard ball mount. Looked at all the usual suspect without luck. Finally I found Dena at etrailer, a live and helpful person on the phone. How old style! I explained my problem and she located the perfect product and got it to me fast. The ball is now about 4" further from the end of the truck and my problem is solved. Thanks! 722276

Ask the Experts about this Brophy Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • Availability of Extra Long Ball Mount with 10,000 Pound Towing Capacity
I have a ball mount that will meet most of your requirements. We do not have a ball mount exact to the specifications you asked for. The Brophy Heavy Duty Extra Long Ball Mount # BH20 offers up to 10,000 pound gross towing capacity with a 1,000 pound tongue weight. This ball mount fits 2 inch x 2 inch hitch receivers, has a solid shank, and has an overall length of 17 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole measures 13-1/4 inches. The drop on the...

  • Why Does Ball Mount BH20 Have a Solid Shank While Ball Mount 2923 is Hollow
When the shank of a ball mount or hitch-mount accessory - say a bike rack for example - is solid rather than hollow this typically means it will be stronger. It also means it will be heavier. The Brophy Ball Mount # BH20 has a solid steel shank which is part of why it has a very substantial 10,000-lb weight rating. The roughly similar Draw-Tite ball mount # 2923 offers a 7500-lb weight rating; this part has a hollow shank. Hollow shanks also allow use of a locking anti-rattle device...

  • Will Using a Longer Ball Mount Put Too Much Stress on the Trailer Hitch on a 2006 Dodge Ram
The Brophy ball mount # BH20 is not too much longer than standard length ball mounts so the extra stress it would put on the trailer hitch would be minimal if at all. As long as the trailer hitch on your 2006 Dodge Ram has a tongue weight capacity to handle the trailer tongue weight and the 7500 pound gross trailer weight you will be good to go.

  • Recommended Extra-Long Ball Mount For 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
We have several extended ball mounts that will work for your Range Rover Sport. The ball mounts have various rise or drop features, so you will want to know just how much of a drop or rise you need. You can check out the attached helpful article that explains how to choose a ball mount that works for you. If you do not need a lot of rise or drop, I recommend a ball mount like part # BH20. This ball mount has a 2 inch drop or 3/4 inch rise and is 13-1/4 inches long from the center of...

  • Longer Ball Mount Recommendation With at Least 750 lb Tongue Weight Capacity
We most likely will have a solution for you, but hitch extenders end up cutting the capacity of a hitch by 50 percent. Your best solution would be to go with a longer ball mount to help give you that distance. For example, the Brophy ball mount part # BH20 measures 13-1/4 inches from the center of the ball hole to the center of the hitch pin hole and it has a 10,000 lb capacity with a 1,000 lb tongue weight capacity. I attached a page that has all of the longer ball mounts we offer...

  • Longer Ball Mount Recommendation to Clear Rear Spare of 2005 Jeep Liberty
A longer ball mount in a hitch like the Curt part # 13044 which is confirmed as a fit for your 2005 Jeep Liberty would be what you need. It sounds like you already have a hitch though so for a ball mount the # BH20 has a distance of 13-1/4 inches from the hitch pin hole out to the ball mount hole so it would be a great option. This ball mount has a 2 inch drop/3/4 inch rise so if you need a different rise/drop you would want to check out the link I attached to the page that has all of...

The longest hitch extension we have available for the factory 2-1/2" hitch receiver on your 2017 Ford F-250 is the Reese Extension # RP45292, which provides up to a 34" long extension but doesn't feature the necessary towing weight capacity to safely pull your trailer. Any shorter extender that you might be able to pair with a longer ball mount to get close to the total extension needed isn't going to have enough weight capacity, either. This means your only real option to create this...

  • Difference Between Brophy # BM20 and # BH20 Ball Mounts
The Brophy Ball Mount # BM20 and the Brophy # BH20 referenced in your question are extremely similar to each other. They are both designed for 2 inch trailer hitch receivers, have a 10,000 pound towing weight capacity, feature a long, 13-1/4 inch shank and will give you either a 3/4 inch rise or a 2 inch drop. The primary difference between the two units is the ball hole diameter. The # BH20 has a 1-1/4 inch ball hole diameter, which will be compatible with a hitch ball with this same...

  • Hitch Extender for 10,000 lb Travel Trailer Compatibility
I wish you would have asked this question prior to your purchase of the Curt Extender # C45791, because this extender will not work for your application. It is rated for the 3,500 lb total trailer weight towing capacity and because it is an adapter will also decrease your tongue weight rating of your trailer hitch by 50%. Instead, you may want to consider the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch # BH20. This ball mount is capable of towing 10,000 lbs and has a measurement of 13-1/4 inches...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Compatible with 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Service Body
The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2" # BWHDRH25187 is the best option for your 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500 chassis with 10 inch step bumper. The only thing to consider is the depth of your bumper is greater than the typical step bumper. I've attached a photo to assist. This will put your trailer hitch receiver under your bumper, so I recommend an extended length ball mount like # 80232 or # BH20. Then you can use a 2 inch ball like # A-90 or 2-5/16...

The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball - 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # C45036 sounds like it may have a little too much powder coat or something to cause resistance like you stated. Alternatively it could be the receiver side as well but it seems odd that the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BH20 fits if it were the receiver side. • Why Isn't There a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball Available with a 3/4" Diameter Shank
You are right that there aren't any 2-5/16" hitch balls available that feature a smaller 3/4" diameter shank. This is simply because the higher weight capacity that a 2-5/16" ball provides requires a larger diameter shank to maintain this rating. The most common shank diameter size for this ball is a 1-1/4" like the Draw-Tite # 19286. You also definitely want to make sure you are using a 2-5/16" hitch ball if that is what the coupler on your trailer accepts. Using a smaller 2" ball...
