Pro Tip: Before you invest in a weight distribution hitch, make sure your cargo is evenly loaded in your trailer to keep the weight balanced. If you still have a hard time even after balancing your tongue weight, a weight distribution hitch should help.
If you've got a moderate amount of sway behind you when you tow, and you want to save a few hundred bucks on getting a more premium option like an Equalizer or the B&W Continuum - which you know would be overkill for your application anyway - the Fastway e2 might be the middle of the road option you're after. It creates a rigid system of steel bars and L-brackets that rub together to create friction, which prevents your trailer from getting off track behind your tow vehicle. And it uses friction to force your trailer back in line if a strong crosswind or passing truck is a bit too much for the rigid hold to handle on its own.
Because the steel-on-steel friction of the bars and L-brackets is noisy, don't be alarmed if you hear some banging, creaking, and grinding. It's just the system working to correct sway.
Fun Fact: Steel-on-steel friction is what locomotives use to keep multi-ton railcars from swaying.
To adjust the tilt, simply slide washers onto the spacer rivet and insert it into the head assembly. Once the spacer is in place, tighten the shank bolts to secure the head to the shank. To check if your truck and trailer are level, you'll need to hookup and release your tongue jack. Repeating this step means adding more washers if the rear of your truck is sagging, or removing washers if too much weight has been distributed to your tow vehicle's front axle.
While the washer-stacking method allows you to fine-tune the setup at the time of installation, it's going to require some patience. It can be time consuming because, if you don't get everything right the first time (which, you probably won't), you'll have to take the head unit apart to adjust the washers. You might have to raise or lower the L-brackets too to get the tension just right, and that's a bit of a pain also. Not to mention that you might have to repeat this process if your tongue weight changes or if you swap out your tow vehicle.

Your tongue weight is the first thing you need to know when figuring out which weight distribution system you need. Most people think that if they get the highest-rated system possible, it'll be smooth sailing. But actually, this will create a rigid ride and a bouncing trailer. On the other hand, if the system isn't strong enough, it won't be able to distribute the weight properly, making it virtually useless.
Once you know your trailer's tongue weight, add it to the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Then just choose a weight distribution system rated for that combined tongue weight.

This is the second Fastway E2 I have owned . I consider this hitch to be one of the best on the market for value and functionality. People need to keep in mind that proper installation and setup is key to weight distribution hitches . This hitch is easy to install and hook up.

Works very good at weight distribution and helping with sway control. Once you get it dialed in with the trailer it's consistent and pretty much fool proof. Not for someone feeble as getting the trailing arms up into the bracket can be a handful and requires some muscle using the included "helper". Carry a rubber mallet with you to get the trailing arm off the bracket and help get the pins in place and you shouldn't have any problem hitching up.
This WD hitch works absolutely great .Was not difficult to install as long as you read and follow the instructions. Also they have a step by step video which is very helpful. It really made a difference and I felt more in control on the road.
One year later, everything is still great. It handles the sway and the load very well. I wish it had an adjustment for the amount of tension like the ones with short sections of chain because I have a toy hauler and my load varies greatly and unloaded, I need almost no tension at all. It’s a trade-off because I don’t need an anti-sway bar when using this hitch. I can also park and maneuver the trailer without all of the pops and clangs that the hitches with adjustable chains have.
Great price and easy to set up and adjust. This makes a huge difference in sway control in windy conditions. I have only needed to adjust the weight distribution a few times, but it is easy to do. Thanks for the great product!

We have had a year of great travel and our Fastway E2 weight distribution hitch has been great. I need to use a sleeve to fit the tongue to my receiver class 5, but that has been a minimal nuance. Checking the torque on the hardware is very important before each trip to maintain flawless performance.
Box was beat up by UPS, but hitch was not damaged. In the process of assembling it now. Looks like a great quality hitch. Will follow up after installation.

Excellent hitch, works great!
Easy to install, set up, and works beautifully every time. Truck drives better and feels more solid/grounded fully loaded with this system than it does alone (even better than pulling the old pop-up trailer)! Never get that push/pull of the trailer again!
During initial installation, I didn't have a loaded trailer or truck, so made some educated guesses on bracket and hitch heights. Took 1.5hrs doing it myself (including taking measurements, etc). On our first camping trip, with the trailer fully loaded and all 6 people and gear in the truck, I needed to raise the tongue brackets one hole, which took 10min. Since then it has never needed adjustment and every time I use it I'm thankful for how easy it is to set up and dead useful it is.
Lastly, the included shank was too short for my truck/trailer combo (needed an additional 1" of drop), so purchased a longer one at the same time.

The design of the system I don't like very much, the "L" brackets on the trailer hang down to low for my 4ft extention that I have to run, and they end up hitting any little dip in the road or when your pulling into a gas station, did try adjusting them up but I am at my max height right now and they still hang to low, I highly recomend buying a chain system this would eleminate the problem I am having.

If you buy a product that does not suit your specific needs Dont blame the product. Be smart and order something that works with your 4 extension. By the way the chain system wont make a difference in the height of your bars. Robert P.
Very happy with the product. It was a little stiff & took a lot of strength to get the bars up into place, but I hope it will loosen up in time a bit. It really helped to even out the weight of my truck to the trailer I hooked it up to. I was happy with the way the trailer towed behind my truck with this on it. This was my 1st purchase from e-trailer, the product was just as described & shipped very quickly. I was impressed with e-trailer & will be happy to do business with them again, if I need any future items.

The bars will be easier to get onto the brackets if you use the trailer jack to raise the trailer while its still hitched to the vehicle. Raising the rear of the vehicle a bit will take some of the tension off the bars, which will make them easier to move.
The Fastway E2 hitch works great and was really easy to assemble. Just had a hard time getting the ball and nut on because there isn't a socket that fits in the location the nut sits. So we put a pipe wrench on the ball side. Other then that, this hitch is built well and you can back up with it all hooked up, it bolts on easily and serves 2 purposes.
The lady from etrailer.com that I spoke with was the best of all. She has the know how and experience to get me set up with the proper size hitch. Or I would have done the bigger is better thing.

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution hitch has been excellent for towing my 5000lb travel trailer, and was a good deal here on etrailer.com. The 2 way sway control keeps everything steady, and is the best I have ever used in my many years of towing travel trailers. The only problem I have experienced with it, is that when pulling out of Gas Stations or anywhere there is a small curb or gutter, it tends to drag. This usually causes the sway bar mount to get knocked out of alignment.

Still working great after a year and many miles.
The hitch is exactly what we needed so we're very pleased with the product. But most impressive to me was their attention after the sale. After ordering, I received a personalized email that included all of the installation information about the hitch and asked if we had any questions, providing a link to ask if needed. I did have a question so I submitted it and received a response within an hour that answered my question and provided the exact part number of the additional part my install would need. (Installing on a tall truck) They made it so easy. Honestly the best service after the sale I have ever seen in a company. I will never hesitate to order online from them. Communication from eTrailer was great post purchase, IPS shipping was a bit slow but still received the notch with plenty of time before leaving on a trip. The hitch is well made and heavy duty, instructions are easy to follow, but watching a couple installation videos helped a lot. I plan to add sway bracket jackets to the L brackets to prevent metal on metal creaking.
When we opened the package it looked as though it was either a return item or the styrofoam packing broke down during shipping as the hitch and both spring bars had scrapes on them.
Overall happy with the product and with 1 trip already post installation the road feel was much better than I expected.
I do plan to add pictures of the before and after difference once we return from our current trip.

Has worked real good for a first time puller. Self installed, with a little help from the pros, but easy hook up and go. Feels real nice on the road, but not real familiar with pulling a trailer without one. Much better to buy and install than the fortune the dealer wanted to charge me.
Great weight distribution system. Works well with my travel trailer. Install was easy and quick. I got it done within an hour.
We have used the hitch almost six years without issue. Great hitch and amazing customer service after someone "borrowed" one of our bars without letting us know and forgot to leave us a note. When I shop for another hitch I'll be shopping for another Fastway E2.

This hitch did its job pulling the camper. A little surging, but the distribution portion was spot on. I only lost about 3/4” of height in the rear. Also don’t be fooled by the picture. This hitch DOES come with a ball.

Great service. The hitch was easy to install and works great. Chevy Colorado towing a 4500 lb two axle trailer with a 520 lb tongue weight.
This hitch has been performing very well! It was pretty easy to install (once you understand the concept of weight-distribution). It does exactly what you’d expect and the quality is good. My only complaint is the metal tabs used to release the bars from the hitch; they are very thin and slippery.
An absolutely fantastic product! This Weight Distribution System was purchased in conjunction with a tongue weight scale. Between the two, what had been an outright scary towing experience it now extremely pleasant in comparison. I recently installed the system and towed my show car in an enclosed 20’ trailer over 250 miles. I experienced none of the sway previously experienced during crosswinds or when semis past by. No more than I experience with just the truck sans trailer on the open road. I now feel safe, secure and confident. I have a short-bed, regular cab pick-up and tow a 20’ enclosed car transport, GVW of the trailer and show car varies between 6,000 and 7,000lbs depending on which car I’m showing and the supplies placed in the trailer.
Customer service and Shipping were awesome. Finished this up today. Not quite as easy as the videos make it look. Maybe just one more minor adjustment. I will definitely be a returning customer to etrailer.com. Very happy so far.

Still very happy with the product. It works very well.
This is a well built and robust hitch that kept us upright and straight all the way from California to Florida. Easy to put on and take off. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure the ball and trunion bars are well greased with high quality marine grease at the hitch end (only - don't grease the L-bracket ends). We went through a couple of heavy rainstorms in Texas and Mississippi and the hitch started to creak and moan loud enough to hear from our truck's cabin. We'd thought the rear diffential/bearings were going out on our rig! Turns out the hitch just needed some grease that had washed out from the pouring rain and highway spray. Also, had to cleaned dirt from the end of the trunion bars where they sat on the L-brackets. Other than that, it's all good.
We use an E2 8000 pound hitch with our horse trailer and it works very well. We bought a second truck, which uses a 2 inch shank, so we needed another hitch head and shank. It was easier and cheaper to just buy a new hitch, so now we have everything we need and a few spare parts. ETrailer had exactly what we wanted, shipping was free, and the hitch arrived on time and in perfect condition.
