Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini 1750RD

Updated 01/08/2026 | Published 01/02/2026

Question:

Hello, I own a 2011 Toyota Highlander Limited with a factory installed tow package/hitch. Im looking to purchase a 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini 1750RD. I would like to purchase a weight distribution/sway bar but the options are overwhelming. I need something easy to use first time RVer but efficient. I wont be towing alot - but when I do it will be long distance. I plan to move my camper 4x/year. Any other towing/rv accessories you suggest?

Hey Michelle! There are definitely a lot of different weight distribution hitch (WDH) options out there. The most important thing is to make sure it is properly rated for the tongue weight of your setup.

Looking at the specs for the 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini 1750RD it has a dry (unloaded) tongue weight of 520 lbs and a GVWR of 4,400 lbs. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight so at the high end, fully loaded, you're going to be around 660 lbs.

For occasional, long distance towing I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0800. This system has a tongue weight range of 400 lbs - 800 lbs so you're covered when the trailer is empty or loaded up for a trip. Fastway is made by Equal-i-zer, which is one of the best companies out there, so you're getting a quality WDH that is going to be really reliable.

You will also need # A-90 for a 2" ball or # C40030 for a 2-5/16" ball along with # ALL643216 for hitch ball installation. An anti-rattle # e38FV is a good idea for any towing setup so that would be a nice addition. You can also add a locking hitch pin # 34061071-D if you want to keep everything secure.

If you are wanting to upgrade the suspension or add something like stabilizers I would tow the trailer and stay in it a few times to see what you think. Upgraded equalizers are a pretty popular and effective upgrade but it isn't always necessary, or worth the cost. Stabilizers like the # MR96RV are nice if you find there is too much movement in the trailer while you're using it.

Any big trips planned once you pick up your Springdale Mini?

This is very helpful! I will be looking into these items and making a decision by end of Feb. My first long term stay will be to Gilboa NY in the Catskills. That is from April till end of Oct. Then I'll be heading south. So even though Im not moving the camper often, it will be long hauls each time. So the towing suggestions are the most important. Great ideas for the locking hitch pin and anti-rattle. Things I haven't thought of but are important. Especially since I'll be leaving my camper unattended for 2 weekends every month to go car-camping in the Adirondacks or White Mountains. Chasing those vistas & waterfall! I will wait on the extra camper stabilization because it does have 4 stab jacks and a full stabilizer stairs as well. Thank you again, VERY much appreciated!

@MichelleD you're welcome. Wow, it really sounds like you have some big adventures ahead! If you're leaving it unattended I would also add a coupler lock like # BPH96VR to your actual trailer coupler. I hope you have a safe and fun trip, let me know if you need anything else.

@RobinH Good afternoon, Are you able to suggest electric brake controller for me? Is there another, possibly lower cost, sway bar/weight distribution system that you could recommend? Thank you :) ~Michelle

@Michelle how about the Fastway e2 # FA94-00-0800 with round bars, same rating, still needs the hitch ball from above. For a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. It's simple, reliable, and won't take up space in the cab of your Highlander.
