Now I am looking for a electric break controller for my 05 Colorado. Can you recommend one?

The Fastway e2 # FA94-00-0800 has a weight capacity of 800 lbs as you mentioned, but weight distribution systems are rated for total tongue weight and have a range. The total tongue weight is the loaded trailer tongue weight plus any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. If your loaded Coleman trailer is 540 lbs, then this system will work really well as your total tongue weight will be in the middle of its 400-800 lbs capacity.

If you want slightly better ground clearance with the same weight capacities, I recommend the trunnion system # FA92-00-0800 over the round bar system # FA94-00-0800.

You will also need a hitch ball and compatible thin walled socket like # ALL643216 for the installation. If you have a 2-5/16 inch coupler, then you will want a hitch ball like # 63840. If you have a 2 inch coupler, then I recommend # A-90. I've attached an article to further assist with weight distribution systems.

Since you already have at least a 4-way trailer connector on your 2005 Chevy Colorado for your Coleman Trailer, I recommend using the Brake Controller Kit # ETBC7. This kit comes with the 4-way to 7-way trailer connector, wiring, circuit breakers, etc. If you already have a 7-way trailer connector, then you will use kit # 5506 instead to give you the wiring and circuit breakers needed to install a brake controller. I've attached some videos and an article to assist. For your brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller is the most popular controller and features an LCD screen giving you diagnostic information without codes and preset boost options to make it extremely user friendly. I've attached a video to assist. There are many brake controller options and really two styles...time delayed and proportional. In most cases proportional is a better option. The time delayed options will work, but don't brake at the same time and with the same amount of pressure as you hit your brake pedal. They are more set to a specific timing after the pedal is hit and at a set braking capacity. They are typically more economically priced because they don't have the sensor needed for proportional braking. If you go that route, I recommend the PowerTrac # 39523 and wiring harness # 20127.
