Fastway e2 Weight Distribution for 2025 Ford F-150 Towing Enclosed Trailer

Updated 10/26/2025 | Published 10/22/2025

Question:

I have an enclosed trailer that I haul a small car in, with a combined 5400 lb. weight. Since I dont have a tongue weight scale, I am estimating the TW to be around 700 lbs. and the trailer sits very level when connected to my truck. Also, the truck has very little sag from the tongue weight. Im mostly looking for sway control since its an extra height trailer 8 x 16 with a lot of side surface area. Im considering this Fastway e2 system, but this shank wouldnt provide the 5.25inch of my current shank. Am I correct on this? And what other options are there to accommodate my setup?

Hello again Frank; tongue weight is typically 10-15% of your trailer weight. At 5,400 lbs you could go over the max 800 lb tongue weight of the # FA94-00-0800 but that probably isn't the case here. If you really want to be sure you could always pick up a small scale like the # BTBRV004 or # BTBRV99FR.

Assuming you're in that 400-800 lb range this will remove that little bit of sag (sounds like it isn't a concern but it still helps) and cut down on your trailer sway. Regarding the shank, what you can do is swap out the one that comes with it for the # FA92-02-4213 which has a 7-3/4" rise and 5-1/4" drop.

Thanks Robin... the max gvwr for this trailer is 7K and this car will be the most weight I'm likely to haul. Should I decide to order it, can your people install a 2 5/16 ball for me? I read one reviewer state it was difficult to tighten the nut because of limited access? Also, do you have any other WD hitches you might recommend?

@Frank hitch ball # C40030 installation is not something we are able to do before shipping it out. It can be done using a 1-7/8" 12pt Shallow Socket # ALL643216 but you also need a torque wrench capable of 420 ft-lbs. You might actually be able to get a local shop to do it for nothing, some people have had luck with that. My personal recommendation is the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET. This is the parent company for Fastway and will give you 4-point sway control instead of 2. It uses trunnion bars for better clearance and has a wider tongue weight range at 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs. However, you will still have to install the hitch ball it comes with using the same socket (this one only requires 320 ft-lbs).

@Frank the Equal-i-zer # EQ37101ET comes without a shank so you can use the # FA92-02-4213 to get the drop you need to match your current setup. Since this comes with the hitch ball that will be everything you need unless you don't have the socket # ALL643216.
