Best Weight Distribution System For A 2026 Winnebago 2000MRB

Updated 05/27/2026 | Published 05/19/2026

Question:

Id like to know if this hitch would be appropriate for a 2026 Winnebago 2000MRB camper. Campers GVWR is 5,500 pounds. Unloaded tongue weight is 466 pounds. Tow vehicle is a 2020 Ford Ranger with factory tow package. Max towing capacity is 7,500 pounds.

Hi Jim!

With your 2026 Winnebago 2000MRB having a 5,500 pounds GVMR, I think the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17499 is going to be a little overrated for you. Your loaded tongue weight should be as close to the middle of the systems capacities as possible and with this having a 500 pound to 800 pound tongue weight range, it's going to be a little too stout. It'll technically work, but it's going to be very stiff and bouncy.

With that being said, I think you would be happier with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # FA94-00-0800. This has the same 8,000 pound max capacity, but it has a 400 pound to 800 pound tongue weight capacity and I think it's the better option for you. Fastway tends to have better tongue weight ranges than other brands and they are the ones I tend to recommend because of that.

One thing to note about both of these systems is that neither include a ball. If you don't already have one, you will need either the 2" # A-90 or the 2-5/16" # A-6. I couldn't find anywhere saying which size you need for your 2000MRB.

Do you have a maiden voyage set up for your new camper? If so, where you headed?

Hello Laser S, Thank you for the information. The research I've done suggests tongue weight for the 2000MRB can range from 550 to as much as 825 if the trailer is full loaded (max GVWR of 5,500 pounds). At that weight range the Curt TruTrack doesn't seem to be overrated. Let me know your thoughts. One other thing. The camper will have a second lead-acid battery (not just one), so that will affect the TW too, correct? Jim

@JimB That would indeed affect the tongue weight. You will want to add the weight of that battery to your loaded tongue weight measurement. Tongue weight is typically 10 to 15% of the GVWR, but we rarely see it over the 10%. That why I mentioned the other system. But if you are adding more onto that tongue weight and you do find it to be over that typical 10%, then yes the Curt would be the better option.
