Thanks for letting us help Sheila. Your 2026 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L Hurricane Standard Output engine will be a great match for your Jayco Jay Feather Micro 166FBS, especially when paired with a properly sized weight distribution hitch. There are several different trim levels of the 2026 Ram 1500, but from what I was able to find, your truck has a towing capacity around 11,000 lbs and a payload capacity around 1,900 lbs. I'd definitely verify those numbers for your specific truck. You can find this information on the data placard inside the drivers door.

One thing that's often overlooked when towing is payload capacity. This includes the weight of everyone in the truck, any cargo or equipment you're carrying, and the tongue weight of your camper. All of that weight counts toward the amount your truck can safely carry.

I wasn't able to confirm the exact weight of your Jay Feather Micro 166FBS without knowing the model year, but these single axle campers typically have a GVWR around 5,000 lbs. RAM generally recommends using a weight distribution hitch when towing trailers over 5,000 lbs, so you're right around that threshold.

For a camper this size, I'd estimate your loaded tongue weight to be somewhere around 550-600 lbs, depending on how you load it. That's a reasonable starting point, although weighing the trailer once it's loaded for camping will give you a much more accurate number.

Based on that estimate, I'd recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch # FA94-00-0800. This system has a tongue weight operating range of 400-800 lbs, which puts your estimated tongue weight comfortably in the middle of its range. That gives you some flexibility as your load changes without going with a system that's unnecessarily stiff for your camper. The Fastway e2 also includes built in sway control, which is a great benefit with a single axle travel trailer. It helps improve stability when you're dealing with crosswinds, passing trucks, or other conditions that can cause trailer sway.

Overall this would be a really nice towing setup for your Ram and Jayco.

What model year is your Jay Feather Micro you're looking at?

@Sheila Definitely. The Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C95MJ has the same tongue weight ranges and would also work well. One thing I would want to verify would be the height difference between the truck's receiver and the trailer's coupler when level. This will dictate any drop needed on the WDH. The # C95MJ has some adjustability built into the shank.

@Sheila Yes you can use the # C95MJ with aftermarket airbags. Weight distribution hitch manufacturers are going to recommend getting the hitch setup and taking your measurements with the minimum amount (5 PSI for Airlift systems) in the bags. I can't attach a photo here but this is discussed in the instruction manual for # C95MJ on page 2 under "Measuring the Tow Vehicle." Getting the weight distribution hitch setup properly is going to have the biggest impact on your towing as it will put weight back on the front axle of the tow vehicle and the trailer axles. Once your have the WDH dialed in you can add a small amount of air to help with any remaining rear end sag and soften the ride. Do you already have the Air Bag system picked out?
