Get a brake controller in your truck that looks like it's supposed to be there. This sleek knob blends right into your dash and makes your settings simple and convenient to adjust.
Features:
Specs:
Note: The main unit must be mounted horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees.
Power output: To get more power output - the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes - rotate the knob clockwise. To decrease the power output, rotate it counterclockwise.
Manual override: To engage manual override, simply press the knob. This will activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights independent of your tow vehicle, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in an emergency. The Voyager iD will reach the maximum set power in half a second.
The Voyager comes in 2 pieces: the main unit and the control knob.
The control knob can be installed in any convenient spot that's easy for you to see and access. This can be a blank switch panel, an open spot on your center console, or wherever there's space on your dashboard. Before you do any drilling, be sure there's enough clearance behind the dash for the entire knob to install!
Once you've decided where you want to put the control knob, you'll need to find a good place to install the main unit. It needs to be horizontally level and parallel to the direction of travel within 20 degrees. A mounting kit with hardware is included.
This kit comes with a vehicle-specific wiring harness that plugs right into the factory port beneath the dash of your vehicle. That means no hardwiring!
You will also need a circuit breaker kit to complete your installation:
Note: If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake-control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The Voyager iD uses an internal inertia sensor to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Hi there heavy haulers. Today, we're going to be taking a look at Tekonsha's GM wiring adapter for their brake controllers. This will allow you to easily plug in to the factory tow package connector on your GM vehicle and provide you with a cable that will plug directly into any Takonsha or Draw-Tite brake controller. You want to make sure that you use our fit guide to ensure that your specific year make and model GM vehicle will work with this adapter. And you'll notice that we've got four wires on our harness, here. These are the necessary wires that you'll need for your brake controller. You've got your power wire, which is our black one here, you've got your ground wire, which is your white one.
you've got your brake signal output, which is coming from your brake controller, going to your seven way at the back to apply the brakes on your trailer, which is our blue wire. And lastly, our red wire here is our brake signal wire from our vehicle. So whenever we hit the brake pedal, the stoplight switch on our vehicle is going to send that to the brake controller, so it knows that we're pressing the brakes. This cable is designed to go from your factory connector on your GM vehicles and provide you with a Tekonsha connector on the other end so you can easily plug in and have all the necessary connectors and wires that you need for a brake controller. This is going to work with both your Tekonsha and your Draw-Tite brake controllers. And it's one of the quickest and easiest ways to get one installed on your vehicle.
Plug, plug, and you're up and running. Everything here that you see on the screen is operational by simply plugging in our connector in line between our vehicle and our brake controller.Tekonsha's also taken further steps to ensure you have a good experience by placing a sheathing across the whole cable. This gives it a nice look for any exposed parts of the cable, and also protects it against any sharp edges and things that you can find. Underneath the dash here, a lot of the support beams embraces can have quite sharp edges on them due to the way they're machined. So having this on here really does ensure that you don't have any mistakes when getting up and running.
So, this is what our factory connector looks like. If you're unsure if your vehicle has a factory tow package connector or not, you can follow along with us because we're going to find it on this vehicle and show you how to get this installed. So we can get our brake controller up and running. We'll begin our installation by removing the under panel here. So we can determine if our vehicle has a factory plug or not. If your vehicle doesn't have a factory tow package, you may not have this plug and you may need to use kit ETBC7 that we sell, here at etrailer.com, which will get you your fully functioning seven way and all the wiring you need. The pins that we're popping out here on bottoms.
How we get the panel off, we're using a trim panel tool to get underneath the pin and pull out the center. Once you get the center pulled out, the whole panel pop out and we're just going to repeat that for this two more pins. There's total of 300 here. We've got all those pulled out. This will just drop down and slide away. Typically, on your GM vehicles, you're going to find your connector for the factory tow package on the driver's side, underneath the dash, usually up here by your parking brake pedal, tucked up back there. You'll find it taped to the harness and you can see it right here, it's taped to the harness. We're just going to kind of give that a twist, pull it out of there. That tape can stay in there, that's fine. And it's often either a black tape like that, or a blue tape on most of the vehicles, but it's usually going to be in this location, taped up. You may need to pull your wires down and twist them around. Because sometimes it's taped up to the back side. So we look down here and you think you don't have it, but it is there. So just kind of fish around a little bit and look for that tape. But, since we've got this connector, it's going to greatly simplify our installation and you really can't get much simpler than this. Here's our factory ends. It's going to plug right into this connector. You can see it's got the little grooves and everything. It's a perfect fit. So we're just going to click the two together. And then now we're going to route this wire across, over towards the passenger side. We're going to keep it on the side. We're just going to be mounting the brake controller on the other side of our steering wheel. So we're just going to route this wire over there. The other end of our connector here is designed to work with any Tekonsha or Draw-Tite brake controller. It'll just plug right into the back. And that completes our look at Tekonsha's GM adapter for their brake controllers..
Easy install simple setup
Everything worked as it should! Very happy with the look as well
The install was pretty simple. It took some time to modify the knock out plug to conceal the adjustment knob but after a bit of work it fit nicely and looks like it’s supposed to be there. I missed a photo of the final mont of the control unit but I was able to install the supplied clip for the module just above the airbag. There is a clip that holds the wire for the computer input so I removed it for extra space and secured the wire with a zip tie.
Easy install. I used the cable harness that came with my 22 Silverado. Hardest part was just locating a place on the dash for the knob and access from behind for the 2 inches or so length of the switch assembly. Small and looks good on the dash.
So far so good
Easy install. Competetive price
fast shipping good price perfect fit
I ordered a brake controler and was delivered in three day and it works great. Will order other parts in the future
Very impressed with quality. Fit exactly as needed and now the controller is working as designed. Should of purchased this the controller originally!! I think it should be the only way the controller is sold.
Perfect ! I think I spent longer typing this review, than I did installing this connector. Our GMC Acadia was easy. The factory connector was just to the left of the emergency brake pedal.
I ordered the Prodigy P2 and wiring harness for my 2012 and the equipment arrived in spectacular time. I plan to use the brake controller in conjunction with towing a Kodiak travel trailer. I have yet to use the system but it was installed easily useing the accompaning directions
I chose this Tekonsha Voyager ID for installation in my Audi SQ7 ecause Tekonsha has a great reputation for brake controllers when used with Airstreams. The brakes are easy to dial in and once you get it, the control at both high and low speed is perfect. A Redarc controller I used on a previous tow vehicle struggled to find a good balance. Tekonsha has this nailed. I love that I don’t have to mount a box beneath the dash and that the control is easy to reach, not ever in my way and easy to adjust. Perfect!
I wanted it to look like it belonged. Took a bit of fabrication but I think it turned out pretty good. 2010 Cadillac Escalade EXT
Had to file the bracket down to get it to slide in to the unit. Was able to get the control knob to fit into the dash in the removable card holder. 2022 Chevy, Colorado Z 71.
Was easy(ish) to install in me 2015 Jeep Wrangle Unlimited. Placed the main unit behind the glove compartment using the supplied bracket and the dash knob down near the passenger footwell. There isn't enough length of wire to get the knob to the driver's side in this configuration, but putting the main unit on that side while remaining hidden is a major pain, especially with the upgraded sound system. Used it a few times already, and the adjustability is excellent, it goes from almost imperceptible to locking up the brakes at maximum pretty quickly on the same road. It will serve you well no matter what trailer you are using.
came with everything needed to install, liked the sleek one button control.
Our new Tekonsha brake controller was super easy to install. We are new RVer's and are will use it today for the first time when we pick up our travel trailer from the dealer.
Looking forward to many safe miles because of that device.
We are telling everyone we meet about the great prices and service at etrailer.com

On Monday I ordered a Teknosha Prodigy P3 Proportional brake controller and interface cable from trailer.com. I received these items via UPS ON Wednesday ( I chose to pay for two day shipping because I'm picing up a new travel trailer on Saturday).
Today (Thursday) I installed the controller in my 2014 GMC Acadia. It was fully installed in les than 20 minutes. I will functionally check it this weekend. Etrailer.com responded quickly to my order and I received the items on time.
The Tekonsha Primus IQ was very easy to install with the GM wiring harness. I had everything installed in about 45 min. and it works great on my 2015 Chevy Traverse. etrailer.com had my order at my door within 3 days and offered free shipping. Can’t ask for much more than that.
Easy to install and it works great.
I am a retired auto mechanic so I truly know and appreciate when something is actually plug and play. Our 2017 Chevrolet Traverse had the factory V92 trailer towing package listed on the build sheet so the plug for the trailer brake was where it was supposed to be. The controller is easy to adjust and has an LED display to let you know if it senses a connection. Additionally, there are three levels of brake application based on trailer weight. We tow three different trailers so this feature is appreciated. Completely works as advertised and all for a good price.
The plug matched the truck's wiring harness and works good. The instructions were very clear and easy to use.
worked exactly as documented
