Installation of P2 Brake Controller in 2022 Chevy Traverse With Factory Tow Package

Question:

Hello, I have 2022 Chevy traverse with factory tow package. I also have a tekonsha P2 brake controller, what wire harness will work to plug in. In the past I used the Chevy adapter #3026-P will this work for me? Thanks.

We can help get the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90885 connected to your 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. But there is not a simple plug-in wiring adapter such as the # 3026-P available. From our Tech Support contact at Tekonsha they informed us that when GM changed the wiring of the platform the Traverse is built on, the previously used wire adapter no longer works so you need to use the following parts and steps:

T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector, # 118287
Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controller, # 20127
Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers, # 5506


1. # 118287 – Plug-N-Play | 7-Way Wiring Harness
a. Install the 118287 per the instructions.

2. # 20127 – Prodigy Brake Controller Harness
a. Splice red wire into vehicle cold side (Brake Pedal). Then connect blue and black wire from the 5506 and follow instructions.

3. # 5506 – Brake Control Wiring Kit
a. Install brake controller wiring per instructions (Brake Controller Instructions & 5506 Instructions). Route blue/black jacketed wire to the back of the vehicle towards 7-Way Harness.

4. Splice the blue wire from the 5506 into the blue wire on the 7-Way harness. (Black wire not used).
