The Seal Fit perfectly in my ’69 Dexter Axle Mobile Home Hub

Comments
The bearings I purchased for my 1969 mobile home axle that I use on my log slitter are working flawlessly.

The parts were all the right ones and most were Dexter oem parts. The only problem I had was putting the bolts in the frame end of the spring perch. It was easier to take the spring loose from the axle, put the bolt in ,then bolt it back to the axle. I intend to buy all of my future trailer parts from etrailer.

Thank you for your prompt shipping of my order. Surprisingly, I had a hard time locating the seals locally so you guys were just what I needed. They fit my replacement job perfectly. Thanks much!

I have nothing but good things to say about the seals, and working with etrailer. George is one of the few folks in this business who reaches out to make sure customers are satisfied. The seals were exactly what I ordered, arrived as promised, and are good quality seals. I have owned boats for 35 years, and trailer to the river to boat, and have now owned 5 different boat/trailer sets. In that time, I have never found a wheel seal that actually prevents water from getting in. I have every type of bearing buddy, have packed marine grease in against the bearing buddy springs...nothing works. So, being able to get these seals supports my yearly ritual of popping the wheels off every year, cleaning everything up, replacing bearings as needed, and off we go. It is the price of boating, and prevents being the guy along the freeway with the family in the car and smoke rolling out of the wheel. Thanks, George, for being a connected and caring dealer. You are the last of a dying breed. You have won my business for life.

Comments
Seals are working as expected ... they dont keep the water out, but Ive never met a seal that did :-. The double lip does slow the flow down a bit. Good seals, good price.

I've got about 12,000 miles on my new Rockwood Windjammer 3029, so it's time to remove, inspect, clean and repack my wheel bearings. This requires new rear seals, so I ordered them thru etrailer. Package came in sooner than expected, and was in good shape. The rear grease seals look identical to the "Dexter" stamped seals that came on the trailer, except for the Dexter name and logo. They installed just as expected, and now I'm ready for the next 12,000 miles.

Comments
after one year, seals are still performing as expected, no problems.

Better than the OEM seals on my 30-year old Dexter 5.2K axle, which were single lip seals.

I used these seals on my triple axle boat trailer that gets submerged 15 times a season. I remove the hubs every fall to remove any water that gets in. The seals with Lucas oil red grease keep all the water out. 1st time in ten years I didn’t have to clean out milky grease and relube.

Original seals were leaking grease onto brake drums. Replaced seals and bearings all round and have had a trouble free year. Very happy with product. I believe the original grease used was incorrect for wheel bearing use.

  • Trailer Hub Seal Recommendation for Dexter 12 inch by 2 inch Hub
For Dexter 12x2 inch hubs there are two different seals that the hub could have came with. You would need the part # RG06-070 for if you need a seal with an inner diameter of 2.25 inches or the part # GS-2125DL for if you have an inner diameter of 2.125 inches. You can measure the spindle of the trailer axle to find this same dimension as well.

  • Replacement for Trailer Grease Seal SKF 21352
The Trailer Grease Seal SKF 21352 has an I.D. of 2.125" and an O.D. of 3.371". The closest match we have is the Trailer Grease Seal part # GS-2125DL which has an I.D. of 2.125" and an O.D. of 3.376". Since these are grease seals, the .005" difference should not be an issue.

  • Replacement Grease Seal for CR 21352
From what I was able to determine, your CR 21352 grease seal is a Chicago Rawhide 21352 and should be a double lipped seal with a 2.125" ID and 3.376" OD. To replace a seal of that size you'll want to use the # GS-2125DL, which has the same specs as your CR 21352 grease seal and is a direct replacement.

You will want to measure your spindle to make sure (see accompanying photo) but the double lip grease seal that fits Dexter axles that are rated for 5,200 lbs - 7,000 lbs is # GS-2125DL. If you look at the photo you will want to use a digital caliper such as # PTW80157 to measure where the letter "B" is on the spindle; that will be the inner diameter of the seal. If yours measures 2.125 inches then # GS-2125DL will be the correct seal for you. On occasion your axle will have an inner...

  • Replacement Grease Seal for Dexter 63052
Based on my research Dexter seal 63052 appears to have been used in a military trailer application. I also could not find a current production seal that cross-references with this one. In this case the way to find a new seal is to measure the hub bore and the spindle using a precision caliper like # PTW80157. It sounds like the seal you have has an inner diameter of 2.25 inches and outer diameter of 3.371 inches. For a pair of seals this size we have # RG06-070. This is a set of two 10-36 double lip seals. We also have set # RG06-090 which has an inner diameter of 2.125 and outer diameter of 3.376 inches. the tighter fit around the spindle means you are less likely to lose any grease. To pick out a replacement grease seal you will need to measure the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal rides with a digital or dial caliper and then need to measure the hub bore where the current seal rides.
