Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Plus

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Plus Dual Arms - Manual

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

I've had the fan in for a season, and a couple southern road trips. Generally happy.
It will run "all night" with no problems on the stock dual batteries in my Ford Transit passenger van.
Didn't spring for the remote and maybe would the next time. the controls are bit small, hard to reach, a touch confusing for groggy, middle of the night changes.
Fan is quiet and efficient but even on high, directly over the bed, it's not going to bath you with sweat drying air movement. Quality seems good, I installed with an aftermarket, designed for the transit roof profile, ring, it went well. I painted the interior trim with gray "for plastic" rattle can paint to match the Transit ceiling and that is good stuff, it held up well to multiple on offs while getting the install just right". I also brush painted elastomeric white roof coating over the exterior caulk and and mounting screws, zero leaks so far.

by:

Great fan with multiple speeds, including reverse. Easy to install, comes with everything you need (except butyl tape). Has made a really big difference in the temp. comfort in my RV. The only negative is the supplied electrical connectors-I put them on, tested the fan & then installed the trim ring- then no fan! Turn out the connectors had fallen off- replaced with standard wire nuts and reinstalled the trim ring....VOILA....coolness!

by:

I installed it the day after it arrived in a 37' 2008 Forest River Georgetown RV in the master bedroom area since it only had an air conditioner, but no ceiling vent in that area. I cut a 14" x 14" hole in the ceiling and roof and installed it. Perfect fit, but quite a job to say the least. Not for the faint of heart.

Great fans. We boondock a lot so don't use the AC much, so two of these give it lots of airflow and keeps us pretty cool in our 21' TT. They have lots of air flow to clear out the heat in just a few minutes. They are totally silent on low and not very loud on high (Some say quieter than the Superfan). When we cook we reverse the flow to blow in and pressurize the odors and smoke out the hood vent and kitchen window. The only recommendation I have is to consider the one with the remote control. My wife is 5'0" and cannot reach the controls to open the vent nor turn it on/off.

One of the best up breads I’ve made quiet efficient reversible and not real difficult for a diy project

I had used various AC fans and DC muffin fans to cool my 6 X 12 cargo/camper trailer. What a waste of time and money that was. I had figured that since I had such a small space, I would need less fan to keep it cool. If a 26 foot long 8 feet wide RV needed only one MaxxAir or Fantastic Fan, then a fan with half the power should work with my tiny trailer, right? Wrong! Don't waste your time with cheap fan. Get a real one that will move real air. I absolutely love the thermostat; it works extremely well at keeping the inside at a comfortable temperature. As the day heats up, the fan slowly ramps up- the hotter it get, the faster it spins. If it is only warm, the fan barely turns. Other fans with a thermostat will jam on at high speed, then shut completely off, then jam on again in a jarring, cyclic effort to maintain an even temperature. As the night cools down, my MaxxAir slowly ramps down to an idle so that I can't hear it which is nice when wanting quiet time for sleeping. Some time during the night it shuts off completely. When I sleep in, I'm not awoken by a loud fan kicking in. The thermostat mode is utilized almost exclusively. Whoever included this type of thermostat is a genius. Having the 10 speeds also helps tremendously at keeping a stable temperature and it does so with a quietness that is far and away better than any AC fan. Muffin fans are quiet, too, but they are anemic and won't work against any kind of breeze. The buttons and switches are easy and intuitive. Keep in mind the manual button and the thermostat button are completely separate from each other. Using the manual button will have no effect on the thermostat button and visa versa. Very efficient with electricity while having a ton of power. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Describing how well this fan works compared to other fans is hard to put into words. Very high quality and highly recommended. And a huge thumbs-up for etrailer's customer service. The only negative was not having a template. The installation took a lot longer sans template. This wasn't to replace an existing fan. This was a virgin install on a vertical wall with no help from anyone but my dog.

This fan still remains one of the best purchases Ive made for my trailer. I cant talk highly enough about the quality, ease of use, and effectiveness of this fan.

by:

Etrailer shipped, very quickly. While researching which vent/fan I wanted to replace my old unit I used the advice function on the web site. The advice was quick and very useful. I looked at YouTube for installation instructions and was very happy to see the vent/used n the video was this unit. The video also gave me the confidence to do the instillation.
The vent/fan was very easy to instal and works well. It is very quiet compared to the fan that came with my camper. I'm very happy with this vent/fan and etrailer.

Ive only used the fan three times since I installed it. Im still very happy with the fan.

by:

Awesome! No RV should be without at least 1 of these high flow fans. I have installed 2 different Maxxair models in my Reflection and love them both. I put the remote controlled model in the kitchen/living area where it is too high to reach the controls. Very well made fans.

The best part of the Maxxair MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat Manual Lift 10 Speed was installing it myself. I had climbed to my van to it's perfect white metal roof. Run an extension cord. Plugged in the [hardware brand] jigsaw. Bzzzzz. Four inches of sliced virgin metal. Four inches of hole across the roof. An existential moment. No going back. No trial run. Only forward. Forward like the Merry Prankster's bus.

Only later did I realize the point of no return had long since past. It past when I drilled the pilot holes before making the crooked ragged jigsaw cuts.

Installation was empowering. It took me out of my comfort zone. Cutting a ragged hole in the roof changed the way I think about cars. And it all worked out. Installation was as straight forward as people say it is. The hardest part was my mental resistance to cutting the roof.

The vent doesn't leak. It moves air. It's quiet and does not draw much power. I love that it is reversible. At night, I set it to exhaust so light seeking moths don't die in the spinning blades. They are blown away instead of sucked in.

For the electrical. I fused both positive and negative off the battery. I ran the power wires through flex automotive conduit. I picked up the fusing, wire and flex conduit from my local Walmart after figuring out what I needed. The hard part of that was determining wire gauge based on the total length of the feeds. The length was longer than I would have guessed when I measured it.

And it all worked the first time I pushed the button. Great product. Great experience.

Prompt shipping and no issues! Etrailer comes thorough again!

by:

Item was very easy install aside from removing the old unit and cleaning the site prior to install. New unit did not require any cutting of plastic trim - fit perfectly as-is right out of the box. Used dicor lap sealant and was completed in quick order. We installed this on a 2013 Keystone Cougar bathroom to replace the tiny oem fan.
Later on I did purchase the MaxxAir vent cover that is specific to this product (Fanmate) This took 5 min to install with 4 clips.

by:

Just what I wanted. Put it in the roof vent in the bedroom of my 5th wheel and really helps cool the trailer.

Bob

Excellent addition to help keep the trailer cool.

by:

Item received is as described on the website. One thing I can always count on , is the super fast shipping. I can not comment on their customer service as I have never had a reason to reach out. Nothing but positive experiences when shopping with etrailer.

by:

excellent service over the year since i nstalled.

by:

Just got it installed, works great! I had to do some modifications to the roof because I didn't pay attention to the 2 inch minimum, overall not a bad install process. etrailer was quick and had excellent service as always.

We typically dont need AC, so this fan has been a perfect option to get air flow in our truck camper. An added benefit is that we can put up and take down the pop-up without having the door open to bugs or having to manually tap in the canvas. An excellent addition to our rig. Install was pretty easy, the hardest part was getting the electrical service from a light fixture.

by:

Works as it should. Just know that the MaxxAir II Vent Cover keeps the lid from closing all the way and making a seal. Allows about 1/2" gap.

by:

Great fan for the price. I used it to covert an older roof vent with no fan. It came with everything needed to install. I was nervous to cut the trim ring but it was easy and you can not see the edge once installed. I wish I would have gotten the remote since the controls set up high due to my roof design, but still easy to use. Fan is quiet to run which is a bonus.

by: 04/10/2022

I just finished installing the Maxxfan in my ford van. Aside from cutting the hole in the roof, the whole process was way easier than anticipated. You can apply all the sealant and just drop it right in. Screws depends on what your interior roof looks and thickness. wired it up and its great. I choose not to use the roof vent. I used some custom trim instead.

by:

This is my second purchase of this fan. The first one went away when I sold my van. My new van will be receiving this one. I was so satisfied with my previous MaxxFan that purchasing a second one was a no-brainer.
Quiet and reliable with a number of useful features. Note the double brackets supporting the top, unlike other competing vents.
This is my third purchase from etrailer. Their prices are great and shipping is fast.

by:

I needed a power vent for a utility trailer that I was converting to a small camper. The vent was easy to install and make weather tight. It has operated perfectly for a year now. I thought it was a good buy.

by:

It’s a simple design, but works great. It’s reversible and has lots of speeds. The screen is easily removable for cleaning but locks in place. The lid is manual and the crank takes some getting used to but also locks in place and has been very reliable so far. Overall, for the price, this is a great fan.

by:

Had a MaxxFan 4000K in our previous camp trailer that worked so well we upgraded the fan in our recently purchased Lance. Best fan on the market!

by:

The MAXXAIR fan is just as described and what I needed.

by:

This fan is awesome, it moves a lot of air, installation was simple, replaced a regular gravity vent in my RV, obviously a Hugh improvement.
Shipping was lightening fast from etrailer.com, and was reasonably priced, I would highly recommend them!

by:

WOW.......what a fan!! Does everything it says it will DO. I especially like reversing to bring in fresh air. Will quickly exhaust hot or unpleasant air. Very quiet, even when on high. Great fan....
