This roof vent's powered, 12-volt fan and dome lift provide the ultimate in convenience for ventilating motor homes and enclosed trailers. Fan and wedge-shaped, plastic vent cover are operated from a remote wall switch, included.Fan arrived in good shape on schedule. There were no wiring instructions or mounting hardware
I am very pleased with the quality of the vents. The prices were good too. Very happy with my purchase and how quick the vents came. Thank you
Installed fairly easy except no wiring diagram included. Removed a manual Ventline model. My wife is only 5' 2" tall and could not reach the fan switch or turn knob to open it up. This will be a breeze for her now. I guess being a master ASE truck tech and working on RVs for 15 years helped figure out the wiring. Now that it's installed would almost give it 5 stars.
This vent works great and was a direct replacement. Also fabulous service from etrailer.com as usual!!!
Works well,
Just what I needed, thanks
Well made vent should last years. I like the removable screen for easy cleaning. Unfortunately the roof vent mounting flange is badly damaged. I will need to do some work with my hammer and anvil to make it useable. This is clearly incorrect/damaged.
I’m writing this review before installing the vent so I can’t attest to its durability/longevity. This is a lightweight unit but it should suffice for use about three times a year for a couple of days at a time. This unit is affordable; well under $200. It is a next step up from a passive vent with no fan.
I’m very pleased with the quality of the vent and how easy it is to open and close. This was a replacement for the previous vent that became inoperable and leaked.
It’s been one year (1/4/23) since I purchased and installed these products on my 1994 Airstream Trailer. The complete kit was more than adequate for my job given that the trailer had a few other areas requiring attention or needing the self-leveling sealer. I waited for the ideal conditions (weather, temperature, and time of day) before applying the parts and sealing a few other external components. We’ve had several rain events and temperature swings and these products have held up very well. The trailer serves more as an office now which increases the importance for not having leaks!
This was a great choice to select these projects and particularly, from this vendor. They were very responsive and quick to get the order out.
Thanks to George and his Team!
Happy New Year 2024
installed on aluminum A.R.E. DCU truck cap.
Did not use the screw or caulk tape kit since the screws were far to long and the caulking is for rubber roofs. As it is, the smallest screws I found in size #8 were 1/2" long.
THe trim piece might be nice but it also reduces the head room in the space. i elected to not use it for that reason.
THe metal vent cover is what i wanted, though I wish they had smoothed the covers edge; it is sharp for the installer. But once installed it wont be an issue.
The screen is okay, but doesn't seem to completely cover the openings along the edge. If this was a concern, maybe a bit of 1/4" wide foam, backed with tape would make up the difference.
I prefer this type vent assy. with the round knob instead of the crank.
A cardboard template would have been helpful, but obviously not necessary.
With luck it will last half as long as the truck cap ... we'll see.
Received the Ventline Ventadome metal roof vent in good condition.
After removing the old plastic roof vent, the new unit slipped right into the existing square hole with no trouble. See the "before" and "after" pictures. The old plastic roof vent only lasted a few years in Wyoming (the 2 X 5 blocks in the "before" picture were duck taped in place to prevent the plastic bag I stuffed in there from blowing away - a temporary fix while waiting for the new vent).
I did not use the polyurethane adhesive between the roof and the vent flange. Everything deteriorates sooner or later especially in Wyoming. If I ever had to replace the vent it would be exceedingly difficult to remove it if stuck down with urethane adhesive. Instead I used ordinary putty (available at most hardware stores). In fact the old vent was sealed with putty. Since the putty layer is thicker than the urethane, I used 1" screws around the flange instead of the 3/4" screws supplied.
A year from now I'll see how the vent has survived.
Good quality, much better than the plastic one that came on my trailer, the hardest part of the installation was removing the broken one from my trailer.
The vent meets expectations of what you would want out of any product. It is well made, the galvanizing seems to be good (time will tell), the raising and lowering mechanism works well, installation was straightforward. After all, it is a vent, nothing super special. I choose galvanized metal over plastic because plastic gets brittle over time. Hopefully the galvanized metal will not start to rust. I like the vent, I would buy another and recommend it to somebody. Again, it meets expectations and you won't be disappointed.
No more breaking the roof vent on the trailer when shoveling off snow! Customer service was also excellent and shipped fast!
I just got the trailer roof vent, and it is a great product. I unboxed it and noticed it was made of quality material. The top half had nice wide corners with several predrilled holes for easy installation. The inside plastic parts were sturdy and well designed to fit just right. I will be replacing an old plastic roof vent on my 6x12 enclosed trailer. This roof vent will be a life saver because of its quality, and it will be able to handle the years of being in the elements to come. Plastic just doesn't last at all in elements. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to save themselves a lot of time and money replacing the plastic model roof vents by purchasing one of these. Great Job folks!
I bought this vent because it was low profile ,metal, manual operation and made in the USA. It was easier to install than I thought it would be ; because of the contours in the cap. No problem. The flange was wide enough and the gauge thick enough to make the contour perfectly. I used 100% clear silicone to make the seal.I'll paint it as soon as temperatures get back to normal. I highly recommend this unit.
The vent works fine but the inside trim that is supposed to go up to the vent so you can’t see the roof framing is about 2” short. If your roof is more than 2.5” thick you will need to reuse your old trim or make something to close the gap. Maybe I ordered the wrong one?
Finally got a break in the weather for the install of roof vent. Perfect replacement, fit like a glove. Well made and all pieces fit together perfectly. Shipping was very quick. Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!!! E trailer is the place to shop.
It arrived in the expected time. It installed and worked as described. The specifications allowed me to have the right hardware and adhesive on hand for installation. Still not leaking and didn't even dent with some hail that left marks elsewhere. I am glad I went with the metal vent vs the plastic that disintegrates in the sun and is destroyed by hail. This is what I will use to replace future vents. The price to value is excellent.
They have held up work really well and being low profile they’re not obtrusive, which is the book that I was going for.
if there was one thing I would complain about it would be when you go to close them they make a bit of a noise a rattle tin can sound, but that’s my only minor complaint otherwise excellent product.
Have had no problems since installing it, works as it should.
