I bought this kit to make my roof vent install water tight. The butyl tape and self leveling sealant were exactly what was needed. The kit comes with two sets of screws (which weren’t included with the roof vent), however I didn’t use them as one set was slotted (flathead vice Phillips) and the other (better) were hex head/slotted. I prefer Robertson (square drive) screws and that is what is stock on this trailer so that’s what I used. I would have given 5 stars if the screws that came with the kit were better quality (i.e. weren’t slotted). Regardless, there is no doubt it is water tight. Good kit.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Replaced roof vent on my 1964 Shasta and the self leveling sealant worked just as described. I applied it when temperatures were in the 50s and nights got down to the 30s so it took a couple days to dry. I’ve had no issues at all.

by:

I gave this order 3 stars because whoever shipped this order put the vent and the installation kit in the same box. The roll of tape was damaged, but I think everything else look okay. I have read other reviews saying the same things I encountered happening and somebody is not paying attention to these reviews. Also the plastic piece of the vent should of been packaged better as they were laid in there to flop around. I am surprised that nothing else was damageed. etrailer is better than this I would think.

We always take reviews about the packaging seriously. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

Used to seal the replacement roof vent (old one was damaged from tornado). Followed instructions. Took our time and installation went well in 73 Deg weather. After a year, sealant is still good. (Trailer is stored under open sided shelter).

by:

What I'd like to know is how ETrailer got my Roof Vent stuff to me so quickly. Not only that, but I get a note right after I ordered referencing a prior order (for the same thing...different trailer) and I'm saying to myself, "These folks take customer service to another level." Everything ordered was in the box and delivered intact.

It does look a bit rough around the edges. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to make sure that the kit was not damaged.

by:

This kit is mostly complete. The only thing missing is a guy to get up on the roof of my camper who can use a heat gun to soften all of the old sealant and yank out the old vent. Seriously, the kit has everything I’ll need to install the new vent.

by:

The roll of butyl tape I received was twisted and bent. I had enough to complete my job but had to throw about half of it away. I'm not sure on the sealant. After 7 hours it is still very, very, soft. (I don't know if that is normal). The mounting screws have slotted heads. Be much better if they were phillips-I ended up replacing the slotted screws with phillips.

I am sorry that the butyl tape arrived like that. I will have Customer Service reach out to you. The sealant should cure in an hour however if it is still soft then wait 24 hours if you plan to paint it.

by:

the sealants were damaged the tape was fine, so I had to go to a hardware store to purchase two sealants luckily they sold same brand. But this is not etrailers fault I blame the transportation of it. I am more than pleased with etrailer and all the products we have purchased from you. your customer service is amazing! the knowledge of the staff is far beyond any other company.

by:

Fan as described. Installed with help of on line customer videos. Works well. Butyl tape arrived nearly folded in half but it worked ok.

by:

Great kit, I was able to re-use the mounting screws that were a bit nicer than the ones with this kit. Adhesives worked perfectly.

by:

The kit is more than sufficient for a 14x14" vent fan installation…except for the exterior screws.

One tube of sealant was just almost enough, but a little more from the second tube finished the job. The sealant looks adequate so far. Time will tell how long it lasts and how well it works. I put two rows of butyl tape under the vent’s flange and there’s almost but not quite enough left over for a second installation.

The screws on the other hand are all zinc coated. Not ideal to be up on a roof, covered with sealant or not. Fortunately, my new vent fan came with stainless steel screws.

I would suggest eTrailer consider replacing this kit with two alternate versions: one without screws and one with stainless screws. Standard shipping arrived on the third day. The price seems a little stiff, but to have everything I needed packaged and ready to go…well, OK.

by:

Arrived in timely manner, included the stated items more than enough type and sealant to install one roof vent.

by:

Etrailer had excellent customer service !!

by:

Worked as expected - easy install and foolproof seal.

by:

Had vent installed in about 2 hours, inst.ablation kit worked great

by:

I find e-Trailer to be both reliable and respectful. E-Trailer really is my "Go-To" for obtaining the items I need to improve and/or maintain my RV. Thank you.

by:

Gave me everything I needed to install the new roof vent. Good quality product and shipped quickly.

by:

Delivery was earlier than expected and the materials ordered were in the box. I was able to find an installation video of this exact product online so I am ready to install. Of course today will top out at 98 degrees and tomorrow is looking more like 100...sigh...

by:

Stop putting ordered loose items together in that long rectangle box! I have on caulking tube with a bent tip that may have punchered the seal , im not ready to use or test it yet so i don't know yet if it is any good. You cant blame the shipper , he doesn't know what loose in the box or which side is up . If I ever order anything it will only be ONE item at a time..P.S. same shipping issue last time I order a year ago... and it is the packer not the shipper.

by:

I assumed this installation kit would be packaged separately from the roof vent, but instead all that stuff was just thrown in the box with vent. There was sealant that leaked on screen for the vent. Poor packaging job.

by:

More than enough tape and caulking to install two 14" x 14" roof vents. Worked well.

by:

Still holding and doing great, no leaks or anything. Easy to use and install

by:

Perfect add on for the vent I purchased. Everything I needed for a proper water tight installation was there, plus enough for another if I decide

by:

Everything was great!

This comes with the needed screws and all of the sealant you'd need. To trim the garnish I would recommend using masking tape to mark where you want it cut and then use a fine tooth saw to make the cut. Since it's plastic it will cut very easily.
