Everythings great except the butyl tape. It was smashed badly. I hope i have enough usable to complete the job.

Oh gosh, I hate it when it shows up like that. Was there enough usable tape for what you needed?

by:

As usual, my order arrived quickly and complete. I paid 15% more over a nationwide RV chainstore because time and time again etrailer has proved to be a better value. The Maxxfan 5100 and installation kit required only a couple of hours to install. Most of the time was spent erecting a safe support system to get on the roof of my teardrop trailer.

by:

Nozzles were damaged but I think they’ll be fine. These were a replacement for sealant tubes that were damaged/leaking.

by:

This kit is mostly complete. The only thing missing is a guy to get up on the roof of my camper who can use a heat gun to soften all of the old sealant and yank out the old vent. Seriously, the kit has everything I’ll need to install the new vent.

Now, I can add a comment about the install materials have stood up: Very well! No leaks!

by:

I watched some videos before doing this so I was ready. The job was straightforward and materials provided worked exactly as advertised. The sealant in particular flowed right where I expected it to. Good job on this folks.

Big shout out to Kimberly @ etrailer for the excellent customer service with helping me place my order. She is extremely proficient with products and guided me in the right direction to make the correct purchase item. On top of that I received the items in just 2 days! Well done.

It was easy to install and 1 year later, still no leaks.

Still great all this time later.

by:

The sealant has a bent nozzle and the tape is crushed on the sides. It may be ok.

by:

I’ve yet to install it but am looking forward to using it

I bought this kit to make my roof vent install water tight. The butyl tape and self leveling sealant were exactly what was needed. The kit comes with two sets of screws (which weren’t included with the roof vent), however I didn’t use them as one set was slotted (flathead vice Phillips) and the other (better) were hex head/slotted. I prefer Robertson (square drive) screws and that is what is stock on this trailer so that’s what I used. I would have given 5 stars if the screws that came with the kit were better quality (i.e. weren’t slotted). Regardless, there is no doubt it is water tight. Good kit.

by:

It’s been one year (1/4/23) since I purchased and installed these products on my 1994 Airstream Trailer. The complete kit was more than adequate for my job given that the trailer had a few other areas requiring attention or needing the self-leveling sealer. I waited for the ideal conditions (weather, temperature, and time of day) before applying the parts and sealing a few other external components. We’ve had several rain events and temperature swings and these products have held up very well. The trailer serves more as an office now which increases the importance for not having leaks!

This was a great choice to select these projects and particularly, from this vendor. They were very responsive and quick to get the order out.

Thanks to George and his Team!
Happy New Year 2024

by:

Excellent service, fast delivery. My husband installed this in less than 2 hours. Everything needed is included in the kit, very good product!

by:

There's a generous amount of goo here to go with the butyl tape, maybe enough to do two hatches. My question is about the screws they send which in my case are redundant. They're all slot headed so will have to be pre drilled and installed with a standard blade manual screw drive driver ensuring a labor intensive install or removal.

by:

The ventilation kit is okay. I ordered it along with the electric vent. Getting the kit saved me from having to go get materials.

by:

Can't really said hadn't had good weather to install it, but shipping was quick,

by:

Always pretty satisfied with etrailer. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star this time is the butyl tape was smashed because of the way it was packed for shipping. The product otherwise arrived in good condition upon initial inspection. I haven't installed the fan yet so can't yet speak to function.

by:

Everything arrived in good condition.

by:

Quick shipping

by:

This kit was not put together in a box. The screws were literally thrown in a very large box and so were the other 2 items. One nozzle of the caulking was bent, and if used the caulking would have come out near the tube itself. We were supposed to get 30 metal screws and 8 wood screws. We were missing some of both. Not a happy camper. I called the company and more of what we needed were being sent out. We shall see.

by:

PERFECT EVERTHING NEEDED TO GET ER DONE

by:

More than enough tape and caulking to install two 14" x 14" roof vents. Worked well.

by:

Everything was great!

Still comes in handy! I purchased this kit for a project trailer I work on in my spare time. This kit, a year later has been very handy to have. Everything applied easily, worked well and didnt suffer in quality over time. Living in CA you cant say money well spent on much anymore, but I am happy with this purchase.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Replaced roof vent on my 1964 Shasta and the self leveling sealant worked just as described. I applied it when temperatures were in the 50s and nights got down to the 30s so it took a couple days to dry. I’ve had no issues at all.

  • Option to Replace Fan-Tastic Roof Vent 6500/410 With Remote
We have spoken to Fan-Tastic Vent about this issue in the past, and they have confirmed that there are no replacement remotes available for the 6500 model as it's no longer in production. So if you want to still use your existing fan but also wanted a remote, they said what you can use is the Fan-Tastic Vent 7350 Series Upgrade Kit # FV807359. However, this is similar to getting a brand-new vent, so you can go that route, with a number of different options. For a powered lift with a remote...

When installing the MaxxFan Roof Vent # MA00A04301K that you referenced you will want to use butyl tape on the vent edges in addition to the sealant that you will apply around the unit to cover up bolt holes and any other areas that might lead to a leak. A great 14 x 14 option that looks clean and is functional is the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2092SP-28. It comes with a white cover and is operated manually so it is less expensive than an electronic option. I have attached a video of this vent being install on a trailer for you to check out....

In order to determine the correct roof vent, measure where the vent opens. The standard trailer roof vent opening is roughly 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" and have roof vents that measure 14" x 14". To pick the correct cover, you will also need to know the type of hinge you need. There is a 3 point hinge, such as the one on the Camco # CAM40153; a 4 point hinge as seen on the Camco # CAM40154; or a rolled metal continuous hinge like on the Ventline # BVD0449-A03; and universal hinge as shown on...

I recommend upgrading to the Dometic FanTastic Roof Vent # FV807350 for both your fans. These are controlled by a remote and allow the fan to either vent out or in. This would allow you to easily circulate air through your camper having one blowing air in and the other out. They can also be set to activate at a certain temperature to help keep your camper at a comfortable temperature when the AC is not needed. It also has a built in rain sensor so the lid will close should it begin to rain....

I believe you are asking about a standard square roof vent on your trailer, and you really just need to know two things - the size of the cut out of the vent opening and the (approximate) depth of the opening. Good news is, square trailer vents are almost always a standard 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" (give or take a smidge), so that's likely what you have, but you'll want to verify.
