Question:
My remote seems dead, I’ve replaced the batteries but nothing comes up on the screen, but, coincidentally, using the buttons up on the fan itself, allows me to only start or stop it, not open or close it without the fan running. Do I need a new remote AND a new circuit board?

The issues you are describing do mean you will need both a replacement circuit board and remote for your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent # MA00-04000K:
- Replacement Printed Circuit Board # MA10A21276K
- Replacement Handheld Remote # MA00A01150K
Since nothing is coming up on the screen and you replaced the batteries, the remote is indeed dead, and we have reached out to MaxxFan regarding the very issue you are having with the fan not opening or closing and they have verified that this does require a new circuit board.
