rv power center

This RV power control center combines an AC/DC panel with a smart converter charger. Creating easy access to your electrical connections, this all-in-one breaker box distributes AC and DC loads to your RV and charges your batteries while connected to shore power. The integrated converter charger also uses the Charge Wizard to help extend battery life.

AC/DC Electrical Distribution

internal view

The panel supplies AC and DC distribution to your RV's electrical system. The AC section includes 5 branch circuits rated for 120V at 30 amps. The DC section has 6 branch fuse holders capable of using (1) 40 amp and (6) 30 amp fuses. However, you will need to purchase AC breakers and DC fuses separately to complete the installation.

inside cover

Once all of your connections are made, the breakers and fuses are easily accessible by opening the door on the front of the box. The door also includes a blank label to list all of the connections.

Multifunctional Converter Charger

The integrated converter charger changes AC shore power into DC power to charge your battery bank. It includes an output mode switch that lets you choose either lithium or lead acid batteries. No matter what type of battery is installed in your RV, you'll always have the most efficient charging profile. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this unit operates properly.

Charging Profile Designed for Lithium Batteries

In lithium mode, the unit uses a higher output voltage, which provides a fast, complete charge. It also extends battery life since it utilizes the appropriate charging profile. Additionally, this mode is compatible with your battery's internal Battery Management System (BMS), which helps manage the charge cycle by monitoring the battery state and balancing cell voltage.

Charge Wizard for Lead Acid Batteries

In lead acid mode, the Charge Wizard automatically switches voltages while your lead acid battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. This function is compatible with flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries.

Charging Modes

  1. Boost: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. This is where most of the charging happens. It charges the battery up to 90% of the full capacity.
  2. Normal: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery begins to reach capacity, the normal state will kick in and reduce the voltage to safely complete the charge.
  3. Storage: Once the battery reaches full charge and remains unused for 30 hours, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization: This mode activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended storage cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

Safety Features

internal view

The system includes a number of safety features. It has a reverse polarity protection that will protect the converter if the battery is hooked up incorrectly. Additionally, the unit includes protection for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent, which can damage your equipment, as well as the converter. The built-in cooling fan also removes excess heat from the unit. The fan speed is proportional to the internal temperature of the converter, so when the power demand is low, the fan will operate quietly.

I had my son-in-law who is an electrician install the converter. The converter is working good and the battery charge was really good. I believe that the water pump pressure was the best I had in a long time which indicates how well the battery is charged. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think that a better manual could of come with the converter. When I connected the battery there was a green flashing light that I didn't know what it meant but after an internet search I found out what it meant. E-trailer was great to deal with, fast service and answered my questions quickly,

Since I just finished installing this converter late today, I don't have any operational history on which to rate it, thus the Average rating. I do have a couple comments about the product itself. 1.I believe the PD4135K would be ideal for a small travel trailer or a van conversion with few powered features. In my case I have a fully loaded 2002 Roadtrek 190. The OEM supplied documentation listed an Elixer 4500 Converter, however that was substituted or later replaced with a Centurion 3000 Converter which was no longer keeping the RV battery charged. The Centurion unit had 9 usable fused 12VDC circuits while the PD4135K has 7 total and 6 usable for distribution. Compounding this issue was the fact that the Centurion unit had three fused circuits with two separate and different loads connected - a definite No-No for safety's sake. The solution was to install an Auxiliary Fuse Block and feed it from F2 on the PD4135K. The pig tailed leads on the PD4135K were a definite asset in this type of installation. 2. My installation required the use of all three dual 120VAC Breakers (6 circuits) which leaves very little room for wiring within that small compartment. While difficult, it can be done, though I suspect doing so pushes the NEC to the limit. I'll make two suggestions for anyone contemplating such a project. First, consider carefully the number of circuits(both 120 VAC and 12VDC)you need to accommodate without doubling up. It may be worthwhile to purchase a higher amperage rated converter to get the needed circuits and additional room for wiring. Second, mark every wire with a unique number before disconnecting it and record that number along with the circuit's function and fuse rating. Wire markers are available at your local [online]. As well, white adhesive tape and a black marking pen works fine. Doing this may save you time and later frustration. THIS REVIEW AND PICTURES EMAILED!

So far so good! I build my own power center modeled after the ones in RV for our enclosed trailer. Its been working great. I bought fuses at the auto parts store, and bought circuit breakers at home depot no problem. I did contact progressive dynamics because it seems that there are places you can buy these cheap but the serial number is not recognized by progressive dynamics meaning you have no warranty and probably cant return it to those places. But since etrailer was not listed on progressive dynamics website as a retailer, I contacted them, gave them my serial number, and they confirmed that etrialer is a preferred dealer, and my serial number is legit.... I contacted progressive dynamics also during installation, and they were very helpful. I was concerned the the wire coming out of the unit that hooks up to your 12 v batteries was 12AWG. I though that seemed too light a gauge, and should be at least 10AWG maybe 8AWG. Progressive dynamics, technical guy said that they have a special high temp insulation on those wires and they can indeed handle 40 AMPS. He recommended (which looks odd installed) but I ran 8AWG from my battery, and spliced it to the 12AWG wire on progressive dynamics unit. No Complaints so far, its been running great and charging the batteries. No regrets.

The service from eTrailer was excellent as always and customer support was very good. I was replacing my brand new WFCO WF-8735 unit because it was not a smart charger - I could not get it to charge my batteries at full speed. The PD4135 is a direct replacement for it and provides better options for charging manually and also has a switch that converts charging for a Li battery. Although the product installed easily, there were a few glitches. One, etrailer did not send a manual with the product, so I had to get it online. Even then, the manual left a lot to be desired. It didn't describe the installation well nor the operation. The PD unit is a bit smaller than the WFCO and therefore the PD cover just barely covered the old screw holes. Also, the WFCO has 7 fuses but are not identical to PD's 7. The PD has 5 branch circuits like the WFCO except it has one extra circuit that can handle up to 30A - that's the second red wire (labeled 002) and the 6th fuse. The 7th fuse is red on both units and is for reverse protection. The 6th fuse on the WFCO is to doubly protect all of the branch circuits and has a metal 30A fuse - that's not in the design of the PD. Operationally, the PD works fine. The switch to convert to Li batteries is TINY and prone to breaking off (my first unit had the the switch in the bottom of the box!) You'll have to scour the PD website to find a picture of the switch since it is not included in the manual. Also, not included anywhere is the need to remove a 4 wire harness when using Li batteries. Also hard to find but on the website is the operation of the push button for manually exiting the Wizard mode and the meaning of the flashing light. Other than those minor issues, the unit is great.

Installed this unit in a vintage travel trailer we are restoring. It’s compact size and multi function made it perfect for a retrofit. This converter is smaller than the 110v only panel it replaced.

I just finished the change over. Relatively easy with the help of a few YouTube video's. Take pictures before and label all the existing wires. I did not use the 2nd red wire and the hole is now too big for the PD4135. You will have to plan ahead if you replaced the WFCO. Tomorrow I will be hooking it up to the new Lithium. So far so good.

Seems to be a great product as long as it charges my lithium iron batteries. The only complaint is the bus bars are down fairly low in the AC side of the box. Hard to get large fingers down into it.

This thing works great! I like that it charges and maintains my battery. I installed it in my converted cargo trailer. works great and keeps up with all of my electrical loads without issues. This power center charges a 4D 200ah 1500cca CAT industrial battery. It will charge the battery from 10.5 to 13.5v in 4-5 hrs. I run this power center with my 1000w Honda generator with no issues.

Just received it but reviews are great and it is exactly as described. Will be perfect for my old 13 foot Burro trailer. Can switch between Lead-Acid and Lithium batteries so is future proof. Sales/shipping experience with etrailer was great of course. Literally shipped an hour after order was placed. Shipped to Canada in ~4 days. Outstanding all around.
