Built-In Rain Shield

MaxxFan Deluxe Rain Shield

The MaxxFan Deluxe has a built-in rain shield that, along with the dome, surrounds and encloses the vent opening. The shield blocks rainwater and other precipitation from entering through the vent and damaging the interior of your RV or trailer. This means you can run the fan during any weather without having to worry about the consequences. With the rain shield, there is also no need to install a separate vent cover.

The smoke dome on the rain shield is constructed of durable high-density polypropylene. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance.

Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxFan Deluxe Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 10 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on the keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on the keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Deluxe

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan from afar, including turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Deluxe Open

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Deluxe Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Deluxe vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The included mounting flange is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, first secure the mounting flange to the roof. Then connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Next insert the vent into the flange and fasten it down using the metal mounting points on the flange. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

I've had this fan for about one year now and it has been amazing. I love the fact it is reversable and has 10 speeds for just the right comfort.

I do wish the buttons had a soft glow at night so you could find them in the dark.

Also, be aware the smoke color will still let in a ton of light so if you don't want to rise with the sun, you might want a plug or dark cover.

Nice product, very impressed with it’s design, construction, functions, quality and ease of operations. It looks great on my Transit van. Being it’s a medium height roof I don’t want it to be any higher than it has to be. The low profile is nice. The height of van with Maxxfan open is 9 ft. 4 in. The etrailer installation video on the Transit was very helpful. I made a frame just as described on the video. Using the 2 x 2 ft. piece of 3/4 inch plywood to make the frame is the way to go. It provides the strength I needed due to the weight of my solar panel bracket just 3 inches away. The two screws you see near the edge of the frame is the solar panel bracket. A constructed picture frame style frame would never support the weight. It is a strong solid frame. The roof is solid.

Comments
Maxxair after 1 year is working great and looking good. I didn’t. Mention in my original review that I have it powered by my solar batteries. This way there is no problem with draining the truck battery. I can leave the van locked up and windows closed and exhaust the heat for hours when away exploring.

MaxxFan Delux roof vent has been installed in our camper van for one year. I absolutely love it. The TOP THREE features are:
3) when closed, it is closed, even pollen stays out and that is saying a lot
2) when open the rain stays outside, just like you really want it to do
#1) the temperature activated ON/OFF feature is wonderful - hold the button closest to the corner for 3 seconds to activate this amazing feature. When the interior temp is > 78 degree F the fan automatically turns on and the higher the temp, the higher the fan speed. It shuts off when it is cool enough in the van. So it is not using battery unnecessarily. Speaking of energy, there has been no noticeable drawdown on my battery even when the fan is running almost fulltime in the summer heat. With our newly added insulation and cedar siding, and the MaxxFan, our van is so much cooler than ever before. LOVE IT and highly recommend. Separate from the great product, the staff at eTrailer are top notch and go out of their way to make sure you are getting what you need. They were out of stock when we ordered, and attempted to help us find a different item in stock if we needed it asap. We were fine to wait for the smoke lid. But it was nice they called to see if we wanted slightly different model sooner than later. Nice human touch in a world of automated order and delivery.

I purchased this maxxfan to replace the roof vent unit that came on our camper. This new vent fan is whisper quiet and best of all it can remain open while its raining. The install was easy and it fit the original hole perfectly. Used the TremPro 644 sealant also sold by etrailer and the install came out perfect. Thank You! etrailer for quick shipments and quality products.

Garbage!
This is a review of the Maxxfan.
etrailer
are very good and would receive 5 stars, as would the service technician at Maxxfan.
The Maxxfan is useless, quite literally. It lasted less than 2 weeks before it stopped working. I spent time with a very helpful service representitive from Maxxfan diagnosing the problem. I am now forced to wait at least 2 weeks before Maxxfan have the motor and PCB which both need replacing.
Be very aware when you buy a Maxxfan product that they consider profit more important than happy customers.

by:

I actually bought two of these fans and they work great. One of my fans stopped working while on the road and I contacted etrailer and they responded on the spot with advice. I ended up having to contact the MaxxFan people who quickly sent me a replacement circuit board that I installed and it is working great. All in all this is a good product with very good support, if needed.

Comments
We have two Maxxair fans and one was having some issues with both the control panel and then the motor on only one of the fans. I reached out to the Maxx fan company and they promptly and without question sent me the appropriate replacement parts. Very pleased overall with the product and the customer service was fantastic! I highly recommend their products.

I purchased this MaxxAir MaxxFan to replace a stock vent/fan that came on my teardrop camper. The most important thing to me was that the fan was quiet as it is only about 4 feet away while sleeping. This fan is so quiet that I can barely hear it on low and on high we can talk in normal tones and hear the television over it just fine. With the stock fan on we could not hear the TV even with the volume at max and could barely stand to leave it on while sleeping. The sleek profile actually adds style to the teardrop. My second hope is that it moves enough air that we won't need to use A/C - so far so good, this fan moves so much air that my curtains go sideways (and can still hear crickets outside) and the 10 speeds let me get it just perfect. Auto on at 78 degrees, reversible, ceiling fan... all nice bonuses. 100% satisfied with this product - Follow the directions, install is relatively easy, solid product. Hardest part for me was correcting the original opening which was not square. I used an oscillating tool to cut the inside shroud down, it was pretty quick but left some cleanup, not sure if it was ultimately any easier than using the prescribed hacksaw.

by:

I love these fans. When I bought a caravan I removed the fantastic fan for one of these because it can be left open when it rains....I rarely ever closed it just so I had airflow in the caravan. Now I have a van, installed it for the same reason. Expensive, but worth it in the long run. I wish they offered a non translucent top model.

A yeah later and it still is the best thing I did to the van for increased comfort...next is solar

MA00-06200K -MaxxAir deluxe 10speed fan

I
bought this to replace the standard Fantastic Fan that was in my teardrop camper. Best upgrade ever!! The MaxxAir is SO quiet & moves the air!! The low profile smoke color lid is nice too.

by:

I bought two and I installed them in my 2016 Promaster. I generally use one blowing in and one blowing out for circulation. I find t helps keep the condensation down inside the van at night, with myself and two dogs. The low setting is relatively quiet and sufficient at night in the Rocky
Mountains. I did a test midday to see if the van would stay cool. With all windows covered with insulated covers and both fans going it was remarkably cool inside the van after 45 minutes. Sorry no thermometer available..,

by:

This is our second purchase. We are happy with the first one in our conversation van build. The second one is going in the conversation cargo camper.

Comments
We are happy with both of them. It’s working great. Thanks!

Works great, worth the extra money to have the rain guard. I have a couple of these in different trailers...one is in a cargo trailer, I leave the it open a few inches all summer long to vent it, I've never had rain get inside.

by:

Happy to say this is a great unit! To be able to have this operating in the rain is a game changer. Was able to get rid of my old "cover" which was too high and flew off once. I got the manual opener on the side of simplicity and power savings when off grid. Alex at Etrailer suggested this over what I was going to get and so glad I took her advice. Super fast shipping too!

by:

Excellent product. Works as advertised if not better. Ideal for venting moisture from bathroom. The auto feature works great for maintaining a cool temperature in hot climate.

by:

Works great. Also, it was delivered quickly and I was impressed with the follow up from Etrailer.

by:

I use my van for construction as well as camping. I wanted an all weather fan to keep it more comfortable.
I just installed the MaxxAir fan today and so far is seems great. I followed the install video for my Nissan NV2500 on etrailer.com and everything went perfectly. The only thing in did differently was use pvc board instead of plywood for the pack out material. It looks great and functions great. I would highly recommend this product.

by:

The Maxxair Deluxe fan works better than expected. We ordered the version without a remote and are extemely happy with the product. It took me a while to get around to putting it in my motorhome as I thought I would have to fish wires through my ceiling insulation, but when I remove the vent (with no fan) there were wires for the 12 volt lights already passing through the opening. Some YouTube videos warned against using power to your lights to power your fan since they are switched. Each light in our motorhome has its own switch in addition to the switch up front that controls them all. I just have to leave the main switch on and turn each individual light off. We do that anyway most of the time so it worked out fine.

The vent fan was pretty easy to install and I am not the most handy person you will ever meet. As always the fine people at etrailer were friendly and helpful and they have at least as good a price as anyone and better than most.

Very happy camper.

Comments
Still love it. Thinking of adding another this summer!
Timothy J - 04/20/2019

by:

The vent installation went very well. The video on etrailer was helpful.
I added aluminum reinforcement flat bars to the top of the mounting flange to improve the stiffness of the sheet metal roof. The Sprinter van has a flat area to install the fan without having to build up a mounting surface. I used stainless steel Philips head screws and nylocks instead of the provided stainless steel screws.
The black wire on the fan is the positive lead which is not a standard 12-volt wiring color.

It is an excellent fan and I have had no problems

great function, low battery draw, and prompt shipping!

This is a very nice improvment for our trailer. We love it. Got it quick from etrailer and my wife installed it after vieming a video from etrailer. She did a good jod. She claims I am to heavy to climb on the roof. So she took care of removing the old one, cleaning the old sealant and installing the new one. I did the connection inside from a wire running to a ligth. And voila. Happy camper.

by:

Fast service from etrailer. Install per installation instructions. Like the low profile andvease of operation. Being able
to leave the vent open without having to
put a additional cover to keep the elements out was a plus for me. Like being able to reverse the fan to draw air
in. Tech support from etrailer is the best.

by:

I was looking for a way to keep the rooflines of my teardrop trailer as close to factory as I could. This maxxfan fit the bill perfectly.

by:

The product was back-ordered but the communication was excellent around when the product would be back in stock And they received it and sent it out exactly when they said they would. Product was in perfect condition. Couldn't be happier with the service from etrailer.com

by:

Fast delivery, can't wait to get it ins talled.

Comments
Worked well all summer, with one in the front by the bed and one in the rear in the bathroom the move a lot of air. At night we reverse the one in the front and it is like having a ceiling fan over the bed. In the rain there is no worries about water coming inside and they have a much lower profile than a vent with a cover over it.

  • Powered Roof Vent Wiring for 2016 Keystone Cougar 326RDS
Most likely there isn't a 12 volt power source already ran to the ceiling of your trailer. You can check but most likely you are going to need to route at least one heavy gauge wire with a minimum of 20 amps on it's circuit to the ceiling to power each of the fans. From there you will be able to run power to each of the fans. It won't necessarily be easy, but this would be how an installer would go about installing 4 of the MaxxAir MaxxFan Trailer Roof Vent # MA00-06200K.

Unless the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent # MA00-06200K is installed on your vehicle I wouldn't worry about a voltage regulator because the voltage will drop enough that you won't see a spike over 13.6V.
