Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Video Transcript for Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install a Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow packages and as a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C55515. Here we have our wiring harness. This end is going to plug directly in the factory connector that would go to your 7-way. It'll provide you with a 4-pole flat connector hookup to your trailer, which will provide you with all your necessary lighting that you need, including your left turn, right turn, brake lamp and tail lamp signals. The harness has a wiring loom on it, pre-installed so it'll keep it nice and protected and make it easier for you to zip tie it up out of the way to prevent any rubbing on any sharp frame materials. It measures about 40-inches long so you can take that into consideration when routing it. It's extremely easy to install.

It just plugs into your vehicle's factory connector that would go into a 7-way. The only thing that you may need to do is install some fuses and relays into your fuse box, or you may need to take it to the dealer to have the ECU flashed. This is all dependent upon your vehicle. One of our customers with a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee had to say, "The harness plugs right into the factory default plug underneath the bumper. Awesome. Only thing that is a pain is that you have to go to the dealer to have them activate the power to the harness.

That's a Jeep issue though, not an eTrailer issue." And that customer's right. The best thing to find out if you need any additional fuses, relays, or flashing done to the computers on your vehicle is to contact your local dealership. On most vehicles you're going to find this connector behind the back bumper. Right here going outside the back is our dummy plug. Up on top of the connector is a release tab. Push down on that tab and pull your wiring back to release it.

To make it easier to see, we've pushed the connector around and here you can see the release tab. We'll just press in on that tab and pull outward to release it. And now we're ready to plug our connector in, but before you do that it's a good idea to fill it up with some dielectric grease. Just squirt it around on the pins on the inside, and that'll help keep out any moisture and help prevent corrosion. You can pick up some dielectric grease here at etrailer.com with part number 11755.

And since this is just a demonstration, we won't be installing any today. Now, we'll take our connector, line up our tabs there, and then just plug it in. We're ready to tie up our excess wiring for our 4-pole and find a proper mounting location for it. Then you can use your dust cap here to secure your 4-pole connector to your safety chain loops, you could pick up a bracket using part number 18144. And now we're ready to test it out. The best way to do this is to hook it up to your trailer, or you could use a tester such as the one like we have here. You could pick up one of these testers at etrailer.com. We have our left turn, right turn, tail lamp, and brake lamp. And that completes our look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow packages and as a 4-pole flat trailer connector.

I chose the Draw tight Max Frame Trailer Hitch for its known quality, i like it comes powder coated to reduce unsightly rust and to keep that fresh look. I chose the this hitch for my all around light and heavy duty needs. The Draw Tight Ball Mount is a quality enhancement to this hitch. I chose the 2" chrome ball for its quality and appearance. The Curt C55515 wire connector was the best choice for my lighting needs. 506283

  • How to Activate Factory Tow Package Wiring on a 2017 Dodge Durango
To activate the factory tow package wiring on your 2017 Dodge Durango you will most likely have to take the vehicle to the dealer and they can make it fully functional. Trailer wiring harness # C55515 is designed for models that already have the factory wiring activated. The other option for you is to use wiring harness # 118617 which plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation of this harness.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For 2014 Dodge Durango
Since you found a connector near the spare tire on your 2014 Durango, there are a couple options for you. You will need to test the plug you found with a circuit tester like part # 40376. Have someone sit in the driver seat and run through the functions while you use the tester to see what functions you have on the plug. If you want a 4-way flat connector on your vehicle I recommend part # C55515. This will plug into the plug you found by the spare. If you want to do some towing...

The Curt hitch # C13277 is a confirmed fit on your 2017 Audi Q7 but the wiring harness # C55515 is not confirmed at this time. This harness does not fit any Audi models; it fits only U.S. vehicles that have an industry-standard round U.S. Car type connector, which is usually found under the rear bumper or tucked away behind the spare tire. The correct 4-pole wiring harness options for your 2017 Q7 are Curt part # C59236 and Tekonsha # 119250KIT. The Curt is a hard-wired installation...

  • How to Activate Trailer Lights on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with C55515 Wiring Harness
I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said if you have installed the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55515, you will not need to do anything with the fuses to enable the trailer lights. However, you will need to take your vehicle to your Jeep dealer and have them reprogram the Jeep's computer to activate the trailer wiring harness. It will take about 10 minutes.

  • Adapting 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2012 Nissan Titan To 4-Pole Connector on Trailer
Your Titan would've been factory equipped either with or without the 7-way trailer connector. If there's indeed a connector on the rear, it would be the 7-way. There's a few ways you can go about doing this. The easiest option would be to adapt the 7-way to work with a 4-pole by using a plug-in adapter like part # PK12716. You could also use the # C55515 that you referenced. You'd unplug the wiring harness from the rear of your 7-way, and plug the # C55515 inline with that connection....

  • No Trailer Running Lights on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
If all of the trailer lights are working except the running lights then there could be a few potential causes. For starters, I would check that the trailer running light fuse on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee to make sure it is intact. If this is not the problem then you will want to check the pins inside each trailer connector in addition to the wires leading into the back of them. The wires need to be tight without much play while pulling them and the pins need to be straight and free...

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55515 is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a tow package. Since the lights worked and don't work any longer, I recommend disconnecting the Curt harness from the factory harness, and checking the pins of the factory harness with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. • Turn Signals and Brake Lights Not Working On 2004 Nissan Titan Factory Tow Package Wiring
If you are testing that actual trailer connector on your 2004 Nissan Titan with a circuit tester, such as # 40376, then the likely culprit causing the brake and turn signals not to work is a bad or missing fuse or relay. Consult the trucks owners manual and/or power distribution box lid to determine the locations of the fuses/relays related to the tow package wiring. Fuses are easy to check but relays are a little harder. Basically to test a relay you need a known good relay that you...

Or if you are looking of a 7-way you would want the part # 74682. If for some reason you couldn't get a T-connector like the part # HM40655 to work the only other option would be a hardwire kit like part # 18252. The part # HM40655 is a confirmed fit for your truck though and will work as it was designed specifically for your truck.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring of 2015 Grand Cherokee That Stopped Working
If your factory trailer wiring stopped working it's most likely due to blown fuses or relays under the hood of your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. That's what I would check first. Older Ram trucks used to require their TIPM to be reset if the trailer wiring ever experienced a short.
