This jack will take the work out of lifting and lowering your trailer. The 30-amp motor ensures trouble-free operation and consistent power with the flip of a switch - no need for a crank. It also has helical-cut gears, which have angled teeth that mesh together clearly. This allows for quieter, more efficient operation than a jack that uses a standard Acme screw.

To ensure great performance even at night, this jack also comes with a front-facing light that houses 3 LEDs. The light is directed at a downward angle allowing for easy deployment and retraction of the jack in low-light settings. The unit also comes with a manual crank handle in case you lose power.

This jack can be bolted or welded onto your A-frame coupler, or it can sit in a brace behind the coupler. As with other Lippert jacks, it is constructed of powder coated steel to ensure that it will resist rust and corrosion and hold up well to the elements. The housing on the jack protects the internal components, and it has a durable, UV-resistant coating that resists chips, cracks, and fading.

You always want to be sure when purchasing a tongue jack that the jack capacity at least matches your trailer's tongue weight (TW). Your trailer's TW should be around 10 percent to 15 percent of your gross trailer weight (GTW), which is the weight of your trailer when it's fully loaded. So if you have a 5,000-lb trailer you would want a jack that can support at least 500 lbs to 750 lbs.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.

Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.

It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.

Trailer and Camper Jack Lift

Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

The bolt pattern matched my trailer so it was very easy. No skill needed. I soldered a connection on and hooked it directly into the battery. I had to drill a hole for my foot extension. So far so good. 23 foot travel trailer.

I wish I would have purchased it the same day I purchased the trailer. It’s super!!!

As always a big help in getting what I need, and wanted. Good tec help, fast service. Already installed.

Worked great, nice upgrade, saves a lot of work. Worth the price.

by:

Love it! No more hand cranking. Installation was a breeze. The trailer tongue has nut plates so it was a easy swap. No extra wrench to loosen the bolts.
I just crimped on a connecter on the end of the power wire, ran the wire through the factory clamps of the camper and put it on the positive side of the battery. Done! I kind of wish it had a slow and fast speed but no biggie. I really like the LED light on the front with its own switch. It adds to the “wow” factor. Thanks again etrailer! I never shop anywhere else.

by:

As always, etrailer was informative, very polite and fast with delivery! My sales rep this time was Mike, but it doesn’t matter, all reps are on the ball and ready to help.

by:

Jack was easy to install. We've only used the trailer once since replacing the old jack and had no trouble.

by:

it came earlier than stated 1 day earlier , which was great -I bought it to replace the original -they are supposed to be watertight- but the original seized up from not being covered-so, I will not install the new one till spring after winter is over- I did connect it to a battery to be sure it functioned right- I am sure it will do it's job- just learned a hard lesson about keeping it covered against the weather--they should come with a water proof cover for it--but it does not-

by:

Do not like the new design. Much slower than the old version and the buttons stick out too far and now I cannot lower my tailgate while the trailer is attached.

by:

My electric tongue jack arrived in two days, was easy to install and makes hitching an unhitching so much easier.

Etrailer was the best place I have ever dealt with.
They were so helpful and curteous the best,
The person was excellent who took my order !!!!

by:

Showed up a day early. Looks like a perfect replacement.

by:

Fit perfectly easy to install. I used it on my 2013 keystone sprinter travel trailer.

by:

First of all , My compliments to the shipping department. I was actually impressed the way that the trailer jack factory package was secured in the etrailer outer shipping box.
Since I was basically just replacing a old jack that I damaged with a new one, the installation was easy. All works great, exceeds my expectations .

I purchased a used trailer that came with a cheap "Made in China" copy of the Lippert 3500 lb electric jack which the dealer had installed. It currently retails for $70.00. It failed after 3 years (trailer only 3 years old). So I bought the "real" deal this time. I had read previous views that said the Lippert 3500 was noisy. Mine barely makes a whisper and compared with my previous jack it doesn't make any noise at all. Etrailer even matched a competitor's low price. I couldn't be happier. Installed it yesterday and it moves up and down with ease. I'd give it and Etrailer 10 stars if I could.

It’s working just like the day I install it just fine

by:

Same as what I have now, easy to install, quick delivery.

by:

Excellent product. Great customer service. Plug n play. Perfect fit to replace my frozen jack. Fast shipping. Ordered Monday, received Thursday, camping Friday.

by:

I have been using this electric tongue, jack and have been very satisfied with its overall performance

by:

Product looked great when I opened the box. The box on the other hand was taped closed and torn when it arrived. I like the water seal that has been added to the switches. The jack itself though leaves more to desire as it is slower than the previous model.

by:

Excellent and fast shipping. Fantastic company to deal qith.

by:

The order shipped quickly and arrived when promised (via UPS). After removing the old tongue jack, the new Lippert jack installed in less than 45 minutes. Installation was straightforward due to the clear instructions included with the product. I have been very happy with all products purchased from etrailer.

The tongue jack is still working as advertised. No problems whatsoever.

by:

Easy install

by:

Comparable price. Super fast shipping. Works great. Have ordered from Etrailer in the past and have never been disappointed. Thanks!!

by:

Perfect replacement for my non-working jack. I like that it also has a manual hand crank. Good quality and easy to order.

by:

I had my trailer tongue jack fail. I thought (hoped) it was just the actuator switch; replaced that but no luck. Found the exact same product through etrailer and purchased it (why not, the first one lasted for 8 trouble free years). The price was very reasonable and I received it a week sooner than promised. Installation was a snap- 3 bolts and connect a wire. Now on to more camping adventures!

  • How Does an Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack Get Power
A-Frame powered trailer jacks such as # LC285318 get power from a trailer mounted battery and not from AC shore power unless there is a converter than converts the AC power to DC power and it is then connected to the jack. This would be uncommon.

  • Best Power Tongue Jack to Replace Manual Jack
The Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3,500 lbs - Black item # LC285318 is a great jack and it is highly reviewed. This jack will exceed your expectations. It has a retracted height of 10-3/4", an extended height of 28-3/4", and 18" of travel. It extends 6" in 41 seconds with 1,000 lbs of tongue weight. I have linked a couple of review videos.

  • Troubleshooting Powered A-Frame Jack that Has 12 Volts Power But Does not Function
The fuse being left in really shouldn't have caused an issue. Most likely your problem is a bad ground for the jack though. The # LC285318 grounds through the mounting hardware so what you would need to do is run a jumper wire from between the track jack mounting bracket and the mounting bracket of the jack back to the ground wire of your trailer wiring or to negative side of trailer battery if it has a battery. That should get your jack working again.

  • Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack Only has Intermittent Power
It does sound like there could be some loose wiring in the jack head or it could also be a bad switch/dirty contacts for the switch. Most electric jacks you can take apart to access these components to repair or replace parts as needed. If that does not solve the problem then the first thing I recommend checking on your powered trailer jack is the ground connection. Over time a ground connection can get corroded and cause a poor ground so the circuit is not completed. Many electric trailer...

  • Replacing Light on Lippert 181794 Powered A-Frame Jack
I believe that the electric power jack that you are talking about is a discontinued jack that was manufactured by Lippert who replaced it with part # LC285318. When I spoke with my contact at Lippert he said that it should either just pop right off or you will need to remove the cap first and then it will pop off. At this point you'll have access to the light.

  • Can Head of an Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack be Rotated to Clear Lowered Tailgate
You can rotate the whole trailer jack, such as # LC285318 or another A-frame mount jack, by unbolting it from the trailer, turning it, and bolting it back on. You would not be able to rotate just the head by itself.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Jack Light That Is Partially Dim After Water Was Poured on Switch
Yes, water can create shorts between circuits and what you described has been known to happen when a jack gets rained on. What's happening is that the switch is being bypassed slightly by the water which is allowing the light to slightly illuminate due to the very small amount of amperage able to get past it. If you take a blow dryer to the switches you'll see the light go off.

Yes, you can rotate the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate part # LC285318 in one of three ways so that the controls face forward, back to the right, or back to the left. • Electric Trailer Jack Makes a Spark Sound Inside when Trying to Raise or Lower the Jack
Are you using Lippert jack # LC285318? Because it only has 1 wire. It is possible that, if you have a jack with two wires, the positive and negative wires were switched. You could also have a bad switch or some other component on the inside has failed. It could also be an internal fuse or circuit breaker that has blown/tripped. This would mean there is either a short or the jack is trying to draw too much power because the battery it is connected to is bad or depleted. If the wires were...

  • Troubleshooting Electric Hydraulic Jack That Stopped Working
Since you have a new travel trailer it is unlikely that the jack would already have an issue, so the problem is likely in another area, specifically the connection between the jack and the trailer battery. There will be a wire that goes from the jack to the battery; did it somehow become loose or damaged on your way to the campsite? Is your battery fully charged and had it been? If not, the low voltage coming from your battery could have caused your fuse to blow.

  • Where is the Fuse Located on Lippert Electric Trailer Jack LC285318
If you have Lippert jack # LC285318 then the fuse is on the power wire inside of the black fuse holder. I included a picture pointing it out. Also, if you have your manual crank handle you could lower the jack using it. If you have a different jack and it does not have an obvious external inline fuse then it will have an internal fuse or circuit breaker. If you know the jack manufacturer and model you have I can look into it further.
