Can the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate Be Rotated

Updated 09/22/2025 | Published 02/03/2022

Question:

In response to a question about rotating the Lippert Smart Jack 90 degrees, Victoria B wrote: I spoke with my contact at Lippert and he confirmed that the Lippert Components Power Tongue Jack 1817941 # LC285318 can be rotated to be best orientated for you. The jack can be un-bolted, rotated, and reinstalled. In response to a second question, another tech said that the three screws holding the jack to the tongue could be removed, and the entire assembly turned. Is this the case? Would the holes match up if the plate were to be rotated?

Yes, you can rotate the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate part # LC285318 in one of three ways so that the controls face forward, back to the right, or back to the left. Just remove the nuts/bolts, rotates, then reinstall once you get the jack in the correct orientation for your setup.

Can you please give any more information on *how* this can be done? My installer says it can't or that if it can he doesn't know how to do it.

@Julie You would just rotate the jack like 120 degrees. The mounting plate is a triangle with 3 holes so you would just turn it until the holes line up. I have heard of some cases where an additional hole must be drilled in the mounting plate.
