    • Solenoid activates automatically when you shift into reverse
  • Low-profile coupler latch ensures easy, secure connection
    • Over-center latch mechanism only engages when the actuator is fully seated on hitch ball
  • Aluminum master cylinder is better at reducing corrosion than cast steel master cylinders

  • Weld-on installation
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: hydraulic disc brakes
  • Ball size: 2"
  • Overall length: 17.5"
  • Mounting: 3" x 3" or 3" x 4" straight tongue
  • Capacity: 7,500 lbs
  • 2-Year limited warranty

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Electric Reverse Lockout

The electric reverse lockout on this trailer brake actuator is automatically activated when you shift your tow vehicle into reverse. The solenoid wires into your trailer connector - which connects to your tow vehicle - so that it can detect when you are in reverse. When your vehicle is in reverse, the solenoid ensures that the hydraulic actuator does not activate your trailer's brakes, thus allowing you to back up your rig. To use the lockout feature, you must have a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole trailer connector.

Received the brake actuator very fast, and it appears to be very well made. I have not as yet had time to weld it to the swing-away connection, but I don't think it will be a problem.

  • Parts Needed to Convert Trailer to Surge Disc with Welded on Atwood Actuator and 3,500 lb Axles
Since your current Atwood surge drum actuator is welded to your trailer frame what you'll need to do is take the trailer to a welder who can cut the welds and remove what you have now and in place install a weld on coupler designed for disc brakes like the part # DX63FR. Since the diameter of your brake drum is 10 inch that means you have a 3,500 lb trailer axle so for a disc brake kit to replace that you'd just need the # K2R35DKG.

  • Stainless Steel Disc Brake Kit Solution for 3,500 lb Axle of Single Axle Boat Trailer
For a surge coupler replacement that would work well on your Rocket 1835 trailer the Dexter part # DX63FR would be a really great option. Then for a stainless slip-on disc brake kit the part # K2R35S would be a great option as well. The only thing else you'd need is a disc brake kit like the part # 18SI-BLKIT which is a flexible hose line kit so it's easier to install.

  • Replacement Surge Brake Actuator To Replace TDE LP7000 On a 2007 Four Winns Boat Trailer
Your TDE model LP7000 surge brake actuator will need to be entirely replaced as the master cylinder is no longer available for it. This will replace your entire actuator assembly and a portion of your trailers tongue.

  • How Are The Pins Removed On The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX63FR For Replacing Parts?
The pins on the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX63FR are removed by releasing the snap rings and washers from one side of the actuator. You will then be able to press out the pins. Do note depending on the age of your actuator and the amount of corrosion you may need some penetrating oil to help break the pins free from the sleeves inside the actuator. If the pin will still not release you can lightly tap on the end of the pin but be sure to be careful to not damage the retaining...

  • What is the Difference Between the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator DX63FR and DX93FR?
    I would be happy to! Other then what you pointed out, the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout item # DX63FR fits a 3" x 3" or 3" x 4" straight tongue. The Dexter item # DX93FR fits a 3" x 5" straight tongue.

  • Difference Between Dexter DX7.5L A-60 & A-60XL Disc Brake Actuator
Good question, and there is just one difference between the Dexter disc brake actuators you asked about, which is the overall length: - 17-1/2" Overall length: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX63FR - 19" Overall length: Dexter DX7.5L A-60XL Brake Actuator # DX43FR Apart from that, these are the exact same disc brake actuator, with both having an electric lockout, coupling to a 2" hitch ball, and 7,500 lb weight capacity.

  • Recommended Weld-On Replacement For An Atwood 82541 Surge Brake Actuator
Hi Doug, If the tongue really is C-Channel and not a box the you'd likely need to first weld a piece of metal to fill in the gap on the open end for the new actuator to weld onto. You could go with an actuator like the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX63FR. You'd weld this to the top of the channel, but there aren't welding instructions included. This actuator has a 7,500lb capacity, fits a 2" hitch ball, and comes with an electric reverse lockout solenoid so...

  • Recommended Surge Brake Actuator To Replace Old Atwood Surge Brake Actuator For Drum Brakes
To replace your old Atwood surge brake actuator I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator - Weld On - Drum - 2" Ball - Primed - 7,500 lbs # DEX94FR which will still work with your 2" hitch ball and drum brakes. You will have no problem removing your current actuator and welding the # DEX94FR in its place. The # DEX94FR does have a manual reverse lockout but you will need to purchase the lockout key # DX94FR. I included a video of the # DEX94FR for you to take a look at.

  • Recommended Surge Brake Actuator For Tandem Axle Boat Trailer With Disc Brakes
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 # DX63FR is would work perfectly for your boat trailer with tandem axles and disc brakes as long as your trailer frame is 3" x 3" or 3" x 4" and you are ok with welding it on. This actuator has a 7500lb weight capacity, so make sure your boat and trailer do not exceed that. Another option is the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go # 099-175-20 which has the same 7500lb weight capacity and is designed for hydraulic disc brakes, but has a zinc finish for superior corrosion resistance...
