Question:
I need to replace the original surge brake actuator on my boat trailer. Original is an Atwood p/n 82541. Can you advise on what is the appropriate replacement? Many thanks!

Hey Tommy, to replace your Atwood 82541 surge actuator you can use the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX63FR.
This replacement is going to be weld on, is made in America, and has electric reverse lockout so you can backup without activating your trailer's brakes.
What kind of boat do you haul with that trailer? I used to work in the industry and always love hearing what different folks are rollin' around with!
If there is something else I can help with, feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

Hey Tommy, how did the swap to the Dexter DX7.5L actuator go on your boat trailer? I'm curious if the weld-on style worked out well for your setup. Your update could make it easier for the next person replacing an older Atwood unit.
