Video Transcript for Review of MB Sturgis Propane - Adapter Fittings - 402258-MBS

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael, with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the MB Sturgis propane adapter fitting. This is going to let you connect your propane cylinder to your regulator within an inverted flare pigtail. You can see the female inverted flare connects to an inverted flare pigtail. The male fourth inch NPT then screws into the inlet of your regulator.

This is a sturdy brass construction, it has been leak tested, and it's going to meet or exceed all applicable safety standard requirements. Our total overall winks is right about seven-eighths of an inch long. Total width is right about five-eights of an inch. This is made here in the USA. That is going to complete our look at the MB Sturgis propane adapter fitting..

MBSturgis good reliable brand

Needed to replace a leaking pigtail hose. Bought two of these hoses and 1/4" female inverted flare x 1.4" MPT fittings (402258-MBS). Added fittings to regulator with yellow Teflon gas tape on threads. Replaced both hoses and leak checked. No leaks! Great quality fittings and hoses from MB Sturgis. Fast service and delivery from etrailer.com.

Used to attach the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose (POL Pigtail x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 3') to my 3/8 pipe thread shut-off valve. High quality as always from etrailer.

No problems, etrailer is the best. You guys work your tail off concerning customer service. In this day and age that is something to be proud of. Keep up the good work.

by:

Worked perfectly

by:

This did what it was supposed to. I went to Camping World to buy a replacement pigtail (they wouldn't cover it under warranty unless I took the trailer to them), but the one they had was the wrong connector. After being treated very rudely, I left without the adapter, so I bought it here. I'll probably be back.

by:

Great place to order rv parts. Has a good sometimes even better selection than most other suppliers. The cost of the items is also good. I will order again.

by:

The hoses I bought to work in between the tanks and regulator on my 30' Airstream had a 1/4"male compression thread. The regulator has a 3/8" FM thread. This (these, always replace both, best practices) fitting with pipe dope (teflon tape has a greater tendency to leak) worked perfectly.
Great price, great shipping & great people to deal with. Now retired, I was in the USCG, a union pipefitter & a Mechanical Contractor.

by:

Product works as intended. Just make sure if your buying propane pig tails that you check to see if you need these as well or if your pig tail will work without them. I made the mistake and order the pig tails and had to order these later.

by:

Spoke with Paul, and he was super knowledgeable about getting me the correct adapter fittings for my RV propane regulator.

Highly recommended this site.

by:

Product is exactly what I needed for air tank fitting that I was unable to find at any big box. Fast ship and process updates to ensure I stayed informed about my order. Will look here first next time I need a specific part.

by:

This reducing bushing worked great between my propane regulator and Hose to tank.

by:

Nice adapter for using readily available propane hoses on an Airstream.

by:

Parts are of good quality, even made in usa..
Installation was a snap..thank-you etrailer..

by:

Exactly what I needed for my pop up. Couldn't even think of the proper terminology for it but etrailer knew exactly what I was thinking..... hmm.

by:

Just what I needed. Not much more I can say about a fitting.

by:

Customer service was great. Item was as pictured. Easy to track shipments.

by:

Fits great, etrailer was the only place I could find the fitting that would work.
Thanks

by:

Could not find the exact replacement hose for my propane tank but with this coupling, it will work just fine

by:

Perfect match for my problem and excellent support from etrailer.

by:

by:

This part was exactly what I needed and worked great. The only issue I have is that the part was not linked to the original part I ordered. I had to contact customer service to get that information. They were very helpful. I will shop here first again.

by:

After one year of use (both summer and winter) it preforms as it did on day one. No leaks, no deformed hoses. Good product.

by:

  • Does Check Valve of Propane Pigtail Work with Propane Adapter Fitting # 402258-MBS
Yes the check valve of the pigtail part # 100575-20-MBS would work with the # 402258-MBS that you also referenced.

  • Adapter Needed from Quick-Disconnect on Grill to Type 1 Fitting on Propane Tank
I believe what you are looking for is the Camco Propane Hose w/ Shut-Off Valve # CAM57629 which has a Female 1/4" Quick-Disconnect fitting to a Female Type 1 fitting. This is designed to connect a Quick-Connect grill valve to a 5 lb, 20 lb, or 30 lb propane cylinder. If you are needing something else please send me a picture of the fittings you are trying to connect and I can help you find the correct parts.

  • Replacement Pigtail Needed for Type 1/ACME Fitting to Regulator
It sounds like you have a POL fitting for your propane and you are wanting to change to a Type 1/ACME propane fitting. You can definitely do this as long as you use the newer propane tanks that have the threads on the outside of the tank valve. To accomplish this you need the Propane Pigtail # 100575-15-MBS. If your regulator doesn't already have the brass fitting for the inverted flare side you also need the adapter # 402258-MBS. Using the inverted flare fitting means you don't have...

  • Can the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail # 100575-20-MBS be Connected Directly to Regulator
Typically a regulator will have a 1/4" Female NPT inlet, like what the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator # 108220 has. For the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail # 100575-20-MBS to connect to your regulator you will need the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting # 402258-MBS. If you already have the gold adapter fitting with the Female Inverted Flare fitting then the adapter is not needed.

  • Recommended 12 Foot Long Hose To Go From Propane Tank to Regulator
The MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose part # 100019-144 along with the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting part # 402258-MBS is most likely what you are after in order to attach a propane tank to a propane regulator. The POL fitting on one end will attach to the tank and the 1/4" inverted flare fitting will attach to the propane regulator when using the 1/4" inverted flare to 1/4" NPT fitting above. The MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose is then rated for up to 350 psi.

  • Can Type 1 Propane Connector be Used for Propane Tank with Threads on Outside
Thank you for the photo! Since your propane tank has the threads on the outside and inside it means that you can use a pigtail with either the POL or Type 1 connection like you're asking about. Swapping over to the Type 1 is a great idea just because it's easier to twist on plus you don't have to mess with any kind of sealant. If your regulator has the adapter on it then I recommend using the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Stainless Overbraid - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15" # 100833-15...

  • How To Attach a 100 Lb and 40 Lb Propane Tank to the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator
In order to connect the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # 108220 to a 100 lb propane tank you will need the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose part # 100019-24 and the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting part # 402258-MBS. In order to connect this same regulator to a 40 lb propane tank you will just need to use the MB Sturgis Propane Hose w/ Back Check part # 100473-24-MBS.

  • Do You Need Teflon Tape For A Propane Pigtail Connector.
Yes, you will need teflon tape rated for use with propane. The MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly - RV Type 1 w/ Back Check x 1/4" MPT - 12" # 100473-12 does not have an inverted flare in it so it will require tape on the end leading away from the propane tank. An example of the inverted flare can be seen on the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Stainless Overbraid - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 2' # 100833-24. If you look at the fitting running away from the tank you will see the flare. If...

  • Recommended Propane Regulator Needed for Outdoor Range with 100 Lb Propane Tank
The requirements for your outdoor range will dictate the correct regulator. That said, the MB Sturgis Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # 108221 provides up to a 400,000 Btu per hour output which will surely be enough for your outdoor range. It will also work with a 100 lb propane tank using the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose part # 100019-144 and the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting part # 402258-MBS.

  • Recommended Propane Regulator 11 inch to 13 Inch WC Hooked up to 100 Lb Tank
The standard water column output for RV propane regulators is 11" like the MB Sturgis 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # 108220 for vertical or part # 108221 for horizontal which are what I recommend. That said, you can adjust them higher to 12" by removing the black cap and turning the valve underneath. These can be hooked up to a 100 lb propane tank using the MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail Hose part # 100019-60 and MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting part # 402258-MBS. We don't carry any CCST...

It sounds like you're looking for a Type 1 propane pigtail, which are available in 12" with part # 100833-12, 18" with part # 37207-30735 or 30" with part # 100575-30-MBS; these all have the dark green Type 1 connection that you're seeking but they do not come in a 10" long version. For the 1/4" MIF to 1/4" Female MPT adapter you can use the # 402258-MBS which does not have a back check, or the # 204120-MBS which comes with a back check. • Choosing Between a Single and Dual Stage Regulator for 100 Lb Propane Tank and Furnace
It is usually best to go with a dual stage propane regulator over a single stage propane regulator as they are more accurate, perform better in the cold, and most can be adjusted. For this, I recommend the MB Sturgis Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # 108221. In order to attach the regulator inlet to your 100 lb propane tank you will need the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose part # 100019-15 and the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting part # 402258-MBS. • Regulator For a 100 lb Propane Tank to a Ventless Heater
The regulator you need is MB Sturgis part # 108220. The maximum propane flow capacity of this regulator is 400,000 BTU per hour so it can handle the 18,000 BTU of your Empire wall mount ventless heater. The two stage regulator is also the best option for the heater that is most likely running for extended amounts of time. Most likely there is a POL fitting on the tank, you can use 100019-48 pigtail to the regulator. The hose does not have a back check so you need adapter fitting part...

The overall length of the MB Sturgis hose you asked about is 24-7/8 inches so it's too short for you. Instead I recommend using part # 37207-30645 which is 30 inches. It's a little longer than what you need but it has the same fittings.

  • Is Teflon Tape Needed To Seal the Propane Regulator
Yes, you will want to use some sort of thread sealer like part # LT37482 or pipe tape like part # A05-0265 on the NPT fittings inside of the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072. As a general rule, all NPT fittings should have some sort of thread sealer or pipe tape on them. Not to confuse you but some supply hoses (propane tank to regulator) like part # 100833-12 come with an inverted flare fitting and if that is the case then you would also need part # 402258-MBS...
