Installing the brake line kit was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to overcome the difficulties. The main issue was the lack of space to work in, which was due to the trailer's design. Once I was able to get the kit installed, it worked great.

by:

This is really a nice brake line kit, it comes with everything needed.

by:

Thanks for providing hard to find parts. You are my go to source for trailer parts!!

by:

PERFECT! Customer service. Personal, direct communication. Constant updates and alternative suggestions to parts I had not thought of. Follow up was great and all my parts arrived in great shape.
I’ll always be a fan of E TRAILER

Product was used and works fine I had to cut 1/4 inch line to run it as I wanted to bothsides and teed it infront of drivers side to across to curbside for othere wheels which I ran a 3/16 line to each wheel. I had to buy extra fittings but all worked out brakes work as designed.

I had to upgrade my fifth wheel to a motorhome do to my wifes disability how ever every thing worked out just fine fo the short time I used it.

by:

brakes work great but the instalation wasn't the best calipers rub on the rim and nobody had any advise to get it to work. Even though it says that it fits a 16 inch rim but thay don't but I got it figured out no help from the compinies that make or sell the item. and when the packages showed up the boxes were all smashed up and the calipeers and brakes were all scratched so the e coating is worthless but there was nothing anyone could do. And one of the caliper bolts had fell out and i had to order a new one because they couldn't figure out how to send a bolt that fits. very disappointed

I recently ordered a complete hydraulic disc brake kit for my horse trailer, as I wanted to change out the worn out electric drum brakes with something better. I worked with Carla on getting all of the right parts to make this changeover. She was very helpful and made sure that I got all of the necessary parts on order. I received everything in one shipment and set out to install the brake kits on all four wheels.

I ran into a problem with the brake line kit that was supplied by HydraStar...they didn't include the brake lines and fittings for the second axle as was specified in my order, so I had to make a special run to my local auto parts house to get the lines and fitting at an additional cost. I placed a call to eTrailer to let them know what happened and they said that they would have a tech from HydraStar give me a call. NEVER GOT A CALL FROM THEM!!!!!! Anyway, the installation proceeded and all went smoothly after that. It took me two and a half days to do this entire installation myself and I am very happy with the results. I just got back from a 2000 mile trip with the trailer and everything worked perfectly. Thank you Carla and eTrailer for your help and providing good quality products.

by:

Nice upgrade from electric drum brakes to disc brakes. Clearance on calipers to my 16” steel trailer rims was tight. May upgrade to 17.5” rims in the future.

by:

I changed out my electric drum brakes on my Montana fifth wheel with this hydraulic brake actuator and Kodiak discs rotor system . What a difference this new brake system has made. I can now lock down the trailer tires if needed and drive much more relaxed on the highway knowing I can stop on a dime.

by:

Always great and timely service. Correct parts in a very quick turn around. I've been doing business with etrailer for years and have bought many items from them because of their great service and quick delivery. With all the incompetence these days, it's nice to deal with true professionals.

by:

Works great with no problems whatsoever.

by:

Have not installed items at this time, but service has been GREAT so far. Waiting for a few more parts.

etrailer as always has what I need, ships fast, and product is "as advertised"!
A pleasure to talk to the tech's when I have questions and even go as far as calling manufacturer to verify equipment selections.
Keep up the GREAT work.

by:

Everything was very quick and arrived on time. Did get 2 damaged caliper fittings but customer service was awesome and is going to send me replacements. I would suggest that better packaging for the calipers.

  • Parts Needed to Convert to Disc Brakes on 2011 Keystone Montana 346LBQ 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Adam, We can definitely get you set up to convert your 2011 Keystone Montana 346LBQ 5th wheel trailer from drum to disc brakes. You'll need a hub and rotor kit, so what you'll need is the following: - Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD66FR Since you're moving to disc, I assume you're going to an electric-over-hydraulic set up for your 5th wheel. We do have a kit with the rest of the needed parts for that if you need them, the Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes...

  • Triple Axle Brake Line Kit that Uses 1/4 inch Main Feed Line
Having the slightly larger main feed line of 1/4 inch is a a great idea for plumbing up your triple axle trailer. We have the HydraStar kit part # HS496-153 which is designed for that. This kit uses 1/4 for the main feed line to the first tee fitting and then from there reduces to the smaller 3/16 inch size but this kit was designed for heavier trailers like yours so it will still work really well and you won't have any issues with brake performance. I attached a diagram that shows how...

  • Parts Needed to Upgrade From 7K to 8K Axle and Convert to Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
In order to change from an 7,000 pound axle to an 8,000 pound axle you will need to replace the entire axle with an 8K model. You will not be able to add any parts to your current axle to upgrade it to an 8,000 pound capacity. We do not currently have any 8,000 pound axles available but you will want to find one that features the same hub face and spring center length to what you currently have. Then in order to convert from electric drum brakes to electric over hydraulic disc brakes...

  • Determining Correct Axle Upgrade For 2018 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer
I would be happy to make a recommendation for upgraded axles and suspension components for your 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK, but first I will need a few measurements from your current components. Starting with the axle you will need to measure your current axles from hub face to hub face and from spring center to spring center to determine the correct length the replacement axle would need to be. For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 89" Long - 5,200 lbs...

  • Parts Needed For Converting 5th Wheel Trailer With Tandem Axles To Disc Brakes
We have just what you need to convert to disc brakes on your fifth wheel trailer. First, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, part # K2HR526D. This is for one axle so for a tandem trailer you will need to order 2 kits. This kit has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. The inner bearing has a 1.750 inner diameter and the outer bearing has an inner diameter of 1.250 inches. For a brake line kit I recommend part # HS496-152 for a 15-ft kit, and part # HS496-252 for a 25-ft kit. These are designed...

  • Replacement Timbren Axle-Less System and Hydraulic Brake Assembly for 3,500 lb Axles on Boat Trailer
I would love to help you upgrade your suspension components! I am guessing that you have 3,500 lb axles on your trailer but if you could verify that it would help me to make sure that I recommend the correct parts for you. Also, are you looking to add brakes to both axles or just keep them on one pair? You would get more braking power and less wear with brakes on all of the axles but if you only want them on one then that will also play into the parts.

  • Brake Lines for Boat Trailer In Salt Water
Hi David; I honestly wouldn't choose steel brake lines for a salt water application, even if they were stainless. A better option would be the Hydrastar Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # HS496-152 or # HS496-252 with copper-nickel alloy. This has proven to be more reliable than steel and has better corrosion resistance since it doesn't rely on a coating that will eventually wear off. Another good option would be the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 20TA-BLKIT with rubber hoses and stainless...

  • How to Convert Trailer Drum Brakes Over to Disc Brakes
There is a good way to get the check valve out of your current actuator and save some money. What you will need to do is remove the large snap ring from the front of your actuator where the brake line attaches, pull the spring out, and at the end of the spring there will be a metal check valve. If you remove that check valve and reassemble the brake assembly without it you will be ready to use disc brakes. Or a less invasive way is to puncture the check valve, basically you would just...

I did some checking and your 7K Lippert axles use inner bearing 25580 and outer bearing 14125. We have 7K brake kit options that use these same bearings and have the same 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern as your existing hubs. The most basic kit is # K2HR712. The parts have a raw finish which means no corrosion resistance. The next step up from there is # K2HR712E which has an e-coat finish which is like a powder coat and offers minimal corrosion resistance. What I recommend is the next step up...

I would need some more information before setting you up. What is your axle's weight capacity? Do you have an idler hub or hub and drum? What size are your wheels? The Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD33FR are the brakes you will need to convert your 7,000lb axles to use disc brakes. This kit provides the brake assemblies for one axle so you will need 2 kits for your 5th wheel. It fits a standard #42 spindle with a 2.25" Oil Seal # XLPROLUBE2440SEAL. If your axles have the smaller 2.125" seal you will need 2 of the Seal Kits # RG06-090 to fit your axle. • Recommended Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Set Up for 2016 Montana 3710FL 5th Wheel
I was able to confirm that your Montana 3710FL uses tandem 7000 lb axles. A 7K axle would typically have an 8 on 6-1/2 wheel bolt pattern and the spindles would be compatible with a 25580 inner and an 14125A outer bearing. You'll want to identify the inner and outer wheel bearings used by your current hub/drums. Let me know if your hubs uses a different outer bearing. • Recommended Brake Line Kit for Use With Titan Model 60 Brake Actuating Coupler
The brake line kit that would be best for you will depend the number of brake assemblies, the length of the trailer and whether the brakes are drum or disc. First, you can use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, part # K2HR526D. This includes the hub and rotors for one axle. You will also need a bearing kit, part # BK3-100 for each wheel.
