Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at HydraStar's Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Tandem Axles. You can get these withpart number HS496-252, or a 15 foot long main line with part number HS496-152.The brake line kit is gonna include one long line, a six foot long to go from one side of the axle to the opposite side, and two four and a quarter foot long brake lines to go from your front axle to your back axle. This is also gonna come with four 3/16" flex lines to connect to your brake calipers. And you're gonna get all the union and hardwares you need to connect it.The brake lines are make of a durable, corrosion resistant copper nickel alloy. The flexible liens have a kink-proof design, and they're great for foldaway trailer tongues. Now on our 5th wheel here, we've mounted our brake actuator here inside our front compartment. Our brake line attaches to the back side.

I went ahead and drilled a hole in the bottom of the compartment and ran the brake line down through the hole.To ensure that we bend our brake lines properly without causing any kinks in the line, we're using a special tool for bending those brake lines. You can pick up these tools at your local automotive store. And then we began routing it back towards our axles. Our longest line finished its point here at our axle on our passenger side. We used the four-way union to connect one brake hose to the wheel right here. We used the medium sized line to run across our axle.

And we used one of the two short lines to go from this axle to the axle right behind it.The line that routed across to our driver side we connected here to the three-way union. One brake hose connects to that, and the other end of the three-way will go back towards the axle and the rear using that short line, again we have two of these short lines. The other end of our short lines will go to a straight union that'll connect the line to the brake hose. And now I wanna tighten them down using a 3/8" line wrench, which is available here at etrailer.com, and a half inch wrench just to hold your union fitting in place while you're tightening it down. Our brake hose hooks up on the backside here. Now, you can bleed the breaks and you're all set.And that completes our look at HydraStar's Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Tandem Axles..

I changed out my electric drum brakes on my Montana fifth wheel with this hydraulic brake actuator and Kodiak discs rotor system . What a difference this new brake system has made. I can now lock down the trailer tires if needed and drive much more relaxed on the highway knowing I can stop on a dime. 764756

etrailer as always has what I need, ships fast, and product is "as advertised"! A pleasure to talk to the tech's when I have questions and even go as far as calling manufacturer to verify equipment selections. Keep up the GREAT work. 708048

I recently ordered a complete hydraulic disc brake kit for my horse trailer, as I wanted to change out the worn out electric drum brakes with something better. I worked with Carla on getting all of the right parts to make this changeover. She was very helpful and made sure that I got all of the necessary parts on order. I received everything in one shipment and set out to install the brake kits on all four wheels. I ran into a problem with the brake line kit that was supplied by HydraStar...they didn't include the brake lines and fittings for the second axle as was specified in my order, so I had to make a special run to my local auto parts house to get the lines and fitting at an additional cost. I placed a call to eTrailer to let them know what happened and they said that they would have a tech from HydraStar give me a call. NEVER GOT A CALL FROM THEM!!!!!! Anyway, the installation proceeded and all went smoothly after that. It took me two and a half days to do this entire installation myself and I am very happy with the results. I just got back from a 2000 mile trip with the trailer and everything worked perfectly. Thank you Carla and eTrailer for your help and providing good quality products. 314641

  • Parts Needed to Convert Trailer from Electric Drum to Electric-Over-Hydraulic Drum Brakes
To convert your gooseneck trailer from electric drum brakes to EOH (electric over hydraulic) brakes you'll need a few items, all of which are detailed in the linked article on adding an EOH braking system to a trailer. These include the hydraulic brake assemblies, the hub/drums you have, an EOH actuator like the HydraStar # HBA-12, a brake line kit, emergency breakaway kit and a compatible trailer brake controller that will work with an EOH actuator. • Installing Hydraulic Disc Brakes on a 5th Wheel Trailer
I can help you correctly run hydraulic lines on your trailer. Adding disc brakes is a great idea, but the reason you are having such difficulty finding a schematic is because hydraulic brakes are rarely installed on 5th wheel trailers and they are typically installation specific. I have made a diagram of a typical setup on a trailer for you to look at. In this diagram I have run the main line down the driver's side frame of the trailer so the shorter lines are needed to the driver's...
