Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at these Lippert Self-Adjusting Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies. Now you can get this as a pair, as I have him here on my table, the left and right one. Or if you just need one or the other, we have that available for you as well. So whichever one you need, whether it's the pair, whether it's just the left or just the right, just take the appropriate part number that you see there on your screen, pop it in the search field of our website, that will take you to what you're looking for and you can add that to your order.

So these electric trailer brake assemblies, you're going to be getting both the driver's side and the passenger side brakes for one axle. And these are going to be 12-inch by two-inch self-adjusting drum brakes designed primarily for trailers with 5,200 pound through 7,000 pound axles. I have these kind of balanced a little bit precariously here on my turntable. So I'm going to turn this carefully just so hopefully you can see all the angles here of these assemblies. Now the nice thing about replacing the complete assemblies is that you don't have to rebuild your existing brakes piece by piece.

So instead of replacing the individual shoes, magnets, springs and other components, you can just swap out the complete assemblies on both sides. So when you look at these assemblies themselves, there are several things worth noticing. You can see the difference between the left hand and the right hand here. I just want to point out here, most new assemblies that you're going to get are going to have a sticker on there indicating if it's left or right, but maybe you have an assembly and it doesn't have a photo on it. There is a great way to determine which assembly is for which side.

So on the assembly, the shorter brake pad, and I think you can see that there, the shorter brake pad is the primary pad. That's the pad that's always pointing to the front. And then the longer brake pad will always point to the back. So as you can see, this is the left hand assembly. This is going to go on the driver's side of your trailer.

So that shorter primary pad is going to point to the front and then that longer pad is going to point to the back. So you can picture how that's going to sit on the driver's side. Same with our passenger side. The short one is pointing to the front and the longer pad is pointing to the back. So that is going to be on the passenger side. So in case you don't know, that's a great way visually to determine which assembly is for which side. Now you're going to get, as we we inchesre talking about here, you're going to get everything that you need in this assembly. This does have a five bolt mounting pattern. You're going to get the brake shoes that we mentioned, the electric magnet, the springs, the internal hardware. And again, you can see how this is self-adjusting here with the cable here. And also the leads here at the back. Again, I'm just being careful here that these don't knock down. So they're going to be ready to wire in. These are self-adjusting. So as the brake components wear, the assemblies are going to maintain their adjustment, that's going to cut down on periodic manual adjustments that you have with manually adjusted trailer brakes. That's going to help maintain more consistent braking performance over time while reducing some routine maintenance. But fitment is probably the biggest thing to pay attention to before picking these up. You will want to make sure that your trailer uses 12-inch diameter by two-inch wide brakes with a five bolt mounting flange. They're intended for 5,200 pounds, 6,000 pound and 7,000 pound axles. And these can also work with 8,000 pound hybrid axles, but they do not fit standard 8,000 pound axles, just so you're aware of that. If your trailer has a Lippert ABS braking system, these assemblies are compatible with that. You don't need ABS to use these though, so they can also be installed on trailers without an ABS system. One thing you will want to have ready before starting the installation is the mounting hardware because it isn't included with these brake assemblies. So on your screen, I am including our part number for that hardware or you can pick that up individually, but if you want to keep everything together in the order, you can just take that part number, pop it in the search field of our website, that will take you to that hardware and you can add that to your order as well. But overall, these are going to be geared towards those with worn electric drum brakes. We want to replace both sides of an axle together and move to a self-adjusting setup. But again, you do want to make sure that you confirm the fitments.
