  • Flexo-Coil cord is resitant to water, oil, chemicals, and has silicone-injected plugs to prevent corrosion
  • Center pin on 6-Way plug wired to 12V power, there are two industry standards
  • Includes:

    • 4-Wire harness
      • 27" Long
    • Wire connectors

Note: For applications that have separate lighting, this kit will cause your brake lights to function as both brake and turn signal lights. A wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes (RM-792) will be needed if you want to retain separate turn and brake signals.

Separate vs. Combined Lighting Systems

Some automobiles operate on a 3-wire system, wherein the brake signal and the turn signals travel along different wires to illuminate different lights. (Typically, these vehicles have amber turn signals.) This is referred to as a "separate lighting system". When you hook up for flat towing using this kit, your towed car's lighting system will operate in a combined fashion regardless of whether it typically has combined or separate lighting. This means that the brake and turn signals sent by your RV to your towed car will be carried on a single wire. As a result, your car's brake lights will do the flashing for the turn signals. Your vehicle will still function as designed when not hooked up to your RV.

Do You Need a Brake Light Relay?

Because this kit wires your vehicle as a combined system, a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

Installed as per video...I had a local car/truck accessory shop install mind as way too many facial screws for me to content with. $400 to have it done right.
(A little worried that if I get too close to a vehicle or wall that some damage my occur as cable connector and braking wiring sticks out 3-4 inches from front of car.) My older system was cleaner design across the front of the car.

Very complete kit. My only problem mounting it in a 2014 Chevy Spark is the limited space for the diodes. After much trial and fitting I found a suitable location. See photo.

I really appreciate your quality of products, & knowledgeable people to get correct answers to questions. We recently traded our Jeep for a 2020 Ford Ranger. I wanted to get a clean looking wiring hookup to tow behind our motorhome. You guys were the first place I thought of! Really appreciate your vast stock of products, & knowledge to back it up! We live full time in our coach, & Etrailer has a great supply of items that could me in handy for our life style! Thank you!

by:

If you have a tow vehicle definitely need to invest in this kit. It makes connection so much faster and easier using your vehicles existing light to perform like trailer lights.

by:
2011 Ford Edge

My 2023 Ranger taillights are very different than those shown in video. Three bulbs instead of one. Quality seems fine. Installed same product on a 2011 Edge, no issues in 2.5 years. Video for the Edge was much better than the videos for the 2023 Ranger.

by:

It would be helpful for etrailer installation videos to detail the tail-lamp wiring for the vehicles they install these kits in.

We bought the wiring kit for our CR-V which we were getting ready to tow. the kit arrived timely and was as advertised. It was easy to install and worked well. Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this product.

2013 Chevrolet Spark

The request for a review of this kit arrived slightly ahead of the kit, but since I installed the kit immediately, I can offer this review. Meh. The directions printed on two sheets of paper are pretty much useless, spending most of the space explaining the difference between having double-duty tail lights and having dedicated (yellow) turn signal lights. Duh!
There's plenty of wire to connect the rear lights to the front socket. Including a ring connector and self-tapping screw for the grounding wire is a neat touch. Glad I already own a crimping tool for making all the connections. The coiled cable for connecting the toad to the RV is robust, pretty stiff, but does the job for which it is intended very well. There are no directions as to how or where to install the bracket on which to mount the socket on the Toad, but the bracket which came with my draw bar worked just fine. Fitting the large diode blocks behind the tail light clusters was not easy as the diode blocks are pretty large. Not sure why they need such high capacity that they require large cooling plates, but I'm not an electronics engineer. If you know what you're doing, this is a pretty easy job. If you don't have the tools, supplies, and experience, it might not be that much fun.
eTrailer sells good stuff and Roadmaster has been in the business for a long time, so I have no worries about longevity or reliability. Oh yeah, the length of wire loom was a nice touch in case you don't want the "multi-colored wiring cable to show through you toad's grill." (really?)

by:

Dealing with eTrailer to purchase and install my own base plate made me feel like I had a team of experts at my disposal. The installation is not easy and not for everyone, but with the help of chat sessions and videos, I believe that most people with some good working knowledge of tools can get it done.

by:

Great product, easy installation. I was nervous about installing the lighting kit on my 2019 Jeep JL, did not want to mess up my Jeep. But installation was super easy. I took my time and installed the wiring inside my frame as much as possible, and zip tied the wires to protect from future damage. I did purchase more flexible wire conduit to help protect the wires. Thats my OCD :-), Highly recommend this product.

by:

I probably would have given a 5 star if the installation instructions were better. After reviewing the video on you tube everything worked great. The included instructions would make good fire starter.

The roadmaster coiled wire is a great product. The kit comes with everything I needed to install it.

2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

First off, I am NOT a mechanic and I especially HATE auto electrical projects. However, I wanted to wire my Jeep to tow behind my motorhome so I ordered the Roadmaster Diode 7 wire to 6 wire wiring kit (RM 15267). While I think it took me longer to install than those with experience, I am happy to say I got it hooked up and working on my first try! The videos that came on my email confirmation were GREAT and really helped my experience. Thanks so much everyone at etrailer for helping make my project successful!

by:

Would buy again. Would have been more helpful if the diodes would have plugged directly into tail light harness.

by:

Haven't installed yet, actually have not opened the boxes yet, shipping was fast.

by:

Works great! Full disclosure, I did not feel comfortable installing this myself and had it professionally installed. Our guy said it was easy, as it should be for him. We've towed a few times now and it's easy to hook up and use. Even though it fits nicely within the tow bar for storage, I've elected to take it off each time and store it out of the weather. That's just me though.

Saturn Relay

I should have been alerted that I needed a brake light relay also. Now I have to wait a few more days for this relay kit. Other than that oversight this is a very well put together kit.

by:
2012 Toyota Yaris

Instructions were pretty general, not specific to my car. Online video specific to my vehicle were much better and very detailed as to color of the wires to use in the taillights. When complete everything seemed to work right.

Easy to install. Perfect fit on my Honda 2014 CRV. Video was awesome. Great information on web site to aid in purchasing the correct one the first time.

by:
2012 Ford Edge

I ordered this kit to get me a heavy duty coiled cable with room to use one input as a dedicated power supply from the bus to then be sent to the towed battery to keep it charged going down the road.
the diodes i chose not to use, as i have a hopkins plug and play kit on the way, that will marry up the 6 pin fitting
I just needed the cable with the 7 to 6 adapters, it was the best price for the need :)
