Question:

I am setting my up 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara for flat towing. Please review my parts list to see if it is complete. Hey Ed! It looks like you put together a great list of parts. I'm going to list everything out here with links so it is all in one place, including my suggestions. For a complete setup you will need the following:

-etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98948 (I'm assuming you have the factory plastic bumper)

-etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR (includes safety cables)

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267 (If you do not have ParkSense)

-Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR (If you have ParkSense)

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251

-Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490

The relay kit is not necessary so I pulled it out. I also recommend using the Roadmaster wiring with the diodes over the Hopkins # HM39VR and piecing the rest together. Roadmaster makes really reliable wiring. While Hopkins serves a purpose, I really don't recommend it. You can be confident with the Roadmaster setup and that is important when flat towing.

The only other thing you may need is a high-low adapter to keep you level. I attached an article below which explains how to measure for your reference. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Robin, I'm confused. You state that I don't need the relay kit but in the but the smart diode kit for LED lights (RM63MR) says: Do I Need a Brake Light Relay? If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely. When I press the brake pedal with the engine off, the brake lights come on. Thanks for your help, Ed

@EdL looking at it more it seems like we have some mixed info on this for the 21 Wrangler Unlimited. Since that is the behavior you're seeing go ahead and get the # RM-88400.
