E-Z Lube-Compatible Hub for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Last year, I completely overhauled my Myco triple axle trailer that sits under my 47' Fountain. Trailer and boat weigh just under 20,000 lbs. so having all wheel and brake components in top shape is critical for safety. I replaced everything down to the axles, ie: hubs, bearings, seals, rotors, calipers, brake controller, etc. I purchased everything from eTrailer.com. Shipping was very fast and not only were their prices a third of what Myco wanted to charge me, but any issue or question I had during the process, their customer service was always helpful. Very happy with eTrailer.com and I'm confident that my trailer is safe.

great Deal, Great Service

This hub is complete and ready to install, just grease the bearings, install the seal and install this hub. This would make an excellent backup hub with packed bearings in a ziplock bag and it is ready for a quick field replacement.

It has been working out great. I would not hesitate to use this product again and likely will. Trailer bearings do go bad over time and this is a fast and effective way to get your trailer back on the road and under a load.

  • Will 225/65R17 Tires Work on the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Heavy Duty - 2" Lift 3.5K
The tire size you mentioned, 225/65R17, is not a size used on trailers. I can't recommend using a tire on a trailer not designed for trailers but, you can physically use this size on the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension part # TASR35HDS07 with an appropriate hub. The hubs we offer for this are the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K which has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # 8-231-9UC1-EZ which has a 8 on 6-1/2"...

  • What Grease Seal is Needed for the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam Part # 7461121
Yes, the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # 8-231-9UC1-EZ is a confirmed fit for the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam part # 7461121. You may have noticed that the axle beam takes a 15123 outer bearing and the trailer hub takes a 14125A outer bearing. However, they both have a 1.25" inner diameter therefore can be exchanged for one another.

  • Upgrading Hubs from 5 Bolt to 6-on-5.5 Inch Bolt Pattern Hub
To determine if your hubs can be upgraded from 5 bolt to 6 bolt pattern, you first need to pull one of your current hubs to determine the bearing and seal numbers to ensure your new hubs will fit your axle spindles. You will have an inner and outer bearing that will have numbers printed on the face. Then you will have a grease seal that will have a number printed on it as well. If you can get me those numbers I can let you know the 6 bolt hubs that will be compatible. If you can't determine...

The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles # 8327860 does not include any hubs. You can add hubs to make it an 8 on 6-1/2" lug pattern. The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 42866UC3-EZ contains the correct bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap and lug nuts for an 8 on 6-1/2" lug pattern with 1/2" studs. To complete the axle and brakes you will need 2 of these hubs with a Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-464-465. This brake kit is self adjusting...

The HydraStar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Triple Axle Trailers - 13" Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - 7K # HSE7K-TR1SO will work great on your 2020 Grand Design Momentum 376THS with 7k triple axles but this is a slip on kit so you will need idler hubs as well and then you'd be set. For a grease hub you'd just need 6 of the part # 8-231-9UC1-EZ and you'd be set. The Hydrastar rotors will slip right over these hubs.

  • Replacement Trailer Hubs for Spindle # TRU57FR or Spindle # TRU37FR
If those measurements are spindle measurements, we do not have an exact match, but the best way to find the correct replacement hubs is to find the inner and outer bearings numbers stamped onto the bearings. With those numbers, finding the correct hubs will be easy. Most of the time, mobile home axles are good for one time use only. The closest spindle we have to the measurements you have provided would either be # TRU57FR or # TRU37FR. For the TRU57FR spindle with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern,...

  • Will # 8-213-5UC1 and # 8-231-9UC1-EZ Hubs Fit the Same Spindle
Although both hubs you mention use a different outer bearing, the inside diameter of those different bearings is the same, so both hubs CAN be used on the same spindle. The outer diameter and thickness of both bearings is different, so the bearings cannot be swapped back and forth between the two different hubs. A 5200 lb axle is a de-rated 6000 lb axle. Therefore, swapping to the higher rated # 8-231-9UC1-EZ hub won't necessarily increase the capacity of your trailer. You'll be limited...

  • Which Spindle is Used for the # 8-231-9UC1-EZ Hub Assembly
The Hub Assembly you referenced, part # 8-231-9UC1-EZ uses the part # TRU37FR spindle. In addition to the bearings, races, seal and grease cap, the assembly includes 1/2 inch wheel studs with 1/2 inch cone wheel nuts. You would need to use a different grease seal, part # RG06-070. Welding a spindle is a tricky business, it is very important that the spindle is perfectly square to the axle. You will want to use a certified welder who is experienced with installing spindles.

  • Difference Between Dexter 8 on 6-1/2 inch Trailer Hubs # 8-231-9UC1-EZ and # 42865-KIT
The difference between the two trailer hubs you referenced part # 8-231-9UC1-EZ and # 42865-KIT is that the # 42865-KIT comes with two different grease cap styles and the # 8-231-9UC1-EZ only comes with one, the EZ lube style that has a rubber plug that can be removed for easy access to the zerk fitting of the spindle for greasing. The # 42865-KIT comes with a EZ style cap as well as a standard grease cap. I attached review videos for both hubs for you to check out as well.

Based on the dimensions you listed for the spindles you have on the axles that were given to you we do not have any hubs that would fit. The best solution I could recommend for you so that you could use the axles you have would be to replace the spindles that are currently on the axle with part # TRU37FR.
