Video Transcript for Kodiak Trailer Brakes KDBC250E Review

Today we're going to look at the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper with the E-Coat finish for 7,000 to 8,000 pound axles. Now this caliper is a cast iron construction, prevents flexing, helps keep your breaking torque consistent, uses a self-adjusting design to ensure smooth, even breaking, has a low drag ability to retract the piston further than traditional models, which will give you less friction, and that leads to a cooler running break. Now the piston itself, let me just pop the pad out. There's your piston. It's a two and a half inch diameter piston, which is 30% larger than in most disc brake system. This will give you increased breaking torque and a shorter stopping distance. The break pads themself are a semi-metallic break pad, which are powerful and long lasting.

It gives you strong breaking power with minimum pressure when applied to the pedal. The heat is conducted away from the rotor to prevent any heat-damage. Let me go ahead and put that right back in the piston there. Now it does have a nice E-coat finish over it. It provides corrosion resistance for fresh water and limited salt water use. The caliper will include the two stainless steel guide bolts with the thread locker on each thread there.

Has a dual port bleed screw, uses a silver cadmium-plated steel piston, and I mentioned the semi-metallic friction pads. This part is made in the USA. Again, the application on this is for disc brakes with the axles' rating of 7,000 pounds to 8,000 pounds, and uses rotor diameter of 13 inches. That should do it for the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper in the E-Coat finish for 7,000 pound to 8,000 pound axles.

We have purchased from etrailer numerous times over the last year. They are very prompt in shipping orders and the products always seem to be in stock as we have had not recent back orders. The products are very reasonably priced and name brand and good quality. We need their products often and we plan to continue to purchase from them. 677851

My order arrived on time, exactly what I thought I needed. It turned out the product (brake caliper and pads) were not needed so I have a spare which is fine. I earlier ordered a bearing from etrailer which I did need now and its just fine. Ill be back to etrailer any time I have fifth wheel needs. 560021

  • Recommended Electric Over Hydraulic Conversion for Dutchmen Voltage 3818 Toy Hauler Triple Axle
  • We do have the ability to convert your Dutchmen Voltage 3818 to Electric over Hydraulic brakes. First you will want the brake assemblies and for those, I recommend the Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 5.5K to 7K # AKFBBRK-7 (one kit per axle). Then you will need brake lines like the Deluxe Hydraulic Line Kit - Tandem Axle - Drum # 9579-2 along with the Hydraulic Line Kit, 3rd Axle - Drum and Disc # 9579-01. Then I recommend the HydraStar...

I have attached these options for you below which are for an 8,000 lb axle and will absolutely work with the Kodiak 250 Disc Brake Calipers like part # KDBC250D or part # KDBC250E. • Replacement Calipers for Boat Trailer
  • In order to determine the correct replacement calipers for your boat trailer, you will need to know the weight capacity of the trailer axle as well as the brand of your existing calipers. For example, the Kodiak Disc Brake Calliper # KDBC250E is compatible with 7,000-8,000 pound axles. I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of calipers. You can select the brand and weight capacity you are needing using the options on the left side of the page.

  • Which Caliper Should You Start with When Bleeding Brakes
  • When bleeding the brakes, you will indeed want to start with the caliper farthest from the actuator and then bleed the other assemblies that share the same hydraulic circuit. After those have been bled, simply start again on the other side of the trailer with the furthest brake from the actuator. This is to ensure that no air bubbles get trapped up along the trailer lines. I did also check with both Kodiak and Titan and both also recommend starting with the calipers furthest away from...
