Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Ask the Experts about this etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums

  • Possible Hub Recommendation to Fit Mobile Home Axle with Bearings 25580 and 102949
There is a slight chance you have number 42 spindle dimensions on your mobile home axle. Measure the diameter of your spindle to get the exact dimensions of where the bearings and seals ride. If the bearing dimensions are 1.74 and 1.25 and the seal diameter is 2.24 then you are in luck. A hub like part # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K would fit. I attached a link to a page that has all the fits as well.

  • Hub, Slip On Rotor Kit Recommendation for 7k Timbren Axle Less Kit
The trailer hub part # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K does fit the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # TASR7KS01 that you mentioned. Then when you want to use a slip on disc brake kit you'd want the part # K2R79D which will fit and work well with this setup. It's designed for 9/16 inch studs as well which are going to be a bit stronger. We don't have any options that use lug bolts instead of lug nuts at this time.

  • Wheel and Tire Combo that Fits 7k Timbren Axle with Hub AKIHUB-865-7-1-K
The flange of the # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K is not compatible with 14 inch rims. Also 14 inch rims don't have the 8 lug bolt pattern of the hub either typically. Now would be a good time to upgrade to new wheels and tires like the part # AC16R8SMV which would fit and work well. For clearance reasons the outer diameter of the wheel is 30.79 inches in diameter.

  • Which Spindle is Compatible with # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K 7000 lb Trailer Hub
The # TRU37FR EZ Lube or the # TRU57FR standard spindle is compatible with the # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K hub you mentioned. These spindles are compatible with a 5200, 6000 or 7000 lb capacity axle, the axle capacity will depend on the bearing set used. The hub you referenced uses a 25580/14125A bearing set which is good to 7K.

  • Can 6,000 Lb 6 on 5-1/2 Hubs Be Swapped Out for 7,000 Lb 8 on 6-1/2 Hubs
Yes, the 6,000 Lb Trailer Axle Spindles have the same dimensions as the 7,000 Lb Trailer Axle Spindles so you can upgrade to the larger bolt pattern. The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-865-7-2-K with the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-6 or the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K which both have a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern is my recommendation. Please note, the bearing numbers are not the same between a 6,000 Lb Trailer Axle Spindle and a 7,000 Lb Trailer...

  • Large Spindle and 8 Lug Hub Assembly For Crane Build
Our strongest regular spindle is the #42 Spindle, # TRU57FR. This spindle is for a 7000 lb axle and the idler hub assembly is # AKIHUB-865-7-1-K. If you wanted a drum assembly with brakes, you would want the # AKHD-865-7-2-K hub and drum assembly with the # AKEBRK-7L-SA brake assembly. We carry heavier drum and brake assemblies, but this is the largest spindle we carry.

  • How to Use an 18 Inch Diameter Wheel on a Trailer
I understand the look of using the same tire on the trailer as the tow vehicle but there are not going to be any performance benefits. In fact, using a passenger tire on a trailer is actually going to give you less performance than using a special trailer tire. The issue is that passenger tires do not have the sidewall capacity that is needed for use on a trailer. Trailer tires are going to experience much more flex than a passenger tire so the sidewalls need to be much stronger. I can't...
