Most controllers hang under the dash where they bump your knee or clash with newer interiors. This unit mounts fully out of sight beneath the dash so nothing sticks out. The main box measures just 3-3/8" long x 3" wide x 7/8" thick and uses an adhesive pad or zip ties to secure it anywhere. Once mounted, you control everything from your phone—no extra knobs or screens on the console.
No buttons or modules to reach for—just open the OneControl app on your Apple (5.0 and newer) or Android (4.3 and newer) device. Through Bluetooth, you set max braking output, adjust sensitivity, and even hit manual override right on the screen. The app displays a ring showing how much brake power is applied and lets you save multiple trailer profiles so your settings are ready the next time you hook up. If Bluetooth drops out, the controller keeps working with your most recent settings, so you’re never without braking.
Jerky stops disappear thanks to true proportional braking. A built-in 3-axis accelerometer senses how fast you’re slowing down and sends matching power to the trailer brakes. It works automatically at any mounting angle and supports trailers with 1 to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies), with electric trailer brakes. The result is smoother, balanced braking that protects tires and pads on both rigs.
Setup takes just a few steps with the included custom-fit harness—plug one end into your factory tow port, the other into the Echo unit, and you’re connected. No cutting or hardwiring required. LED indicators on the box show status for pairing and troubleshooting, while built-in reverse polarity and short-circuit protection keep the system safe. Calibration happens automatically once it’s plugged in and paired, getting you towing in minutes.
If you pull different trailers or share towing duties, you can store multiple brake profiles in the app. Each saves its own max output and sensitivity settings so switching setups takes only a quick swipe on your phone. It’s ideal for anyone managing more than one trailer—set it once, save it, and tow with confidence every time.

I reached out to Curt about the problems with the new app. They advised that the new app runs the same as the old app it has to run in the foreground unless they are using the button which is the same as the old app. They wanted to know if you were having trouble getting past that screen. Which type of cell phone do you have and which IOS are you using?

Still 5 stars, lots of trips including a long tow of over 5000 miles. Consistently worked flawlessly. Mild annoyance that they changed the app but once I learned how the new app worked it continues to function flawlessly.

Traded the 2016 Grand Cherokee for a 2018, brake controller and wiring adapter fit perfectly again and has been performing flawlessly.
