Quick, Easy Hookup and Disconnect

This Roadmaster tow bar has a large hookup radius to ensure simple, secure hookup. What this means is that, even if your towed car is not perfectly aligned with your RV, you will still be able to make the necessary connections. To achieve this, the Falcon 2 has stainless steel, telescopic inner arms that adjust independently. In addition, these arms are able to pivot in and out, changing the spread. So, if your car is angled a bit behind your RV, you'll still be able to hook up by bringing the arms closer together and staggering the length so that 1 arm is longer than the other, allowing it to reach the more distant base plate.


The fact that the arms are extra-long also allows for a better turning radius. By putting more distance between your motorhome and your towed car, your entire setup will become easier to maneuver so that your towed car will track behind your motorhome without running the risk of hitting your RV during turns.


Autowlok

The Autowlok mechanism features a spring-loaded pin that locks the telescoping arms into place for towing. Once the tow bar is connected to both your RV and to the base plates on your towed vehicle, simply drive forward until the tow bar arms fully extend, at which point they will automatically lock into place. Once you've reached your destination and you're ready to unhook your car, press the release button to disengage the spring-loaded pin. The arms will be able to telescope again, making it easier to disconnect.


The internal self-lubricating nylon bushings help to absorb road shock and reduce wear and tear on the tow bar by eliminating friction between the inner and outer arms as they telescope in and out. Inside each arm, a built-in safety strap provides extra peace of mind by ensuring that the inner and outer arms won't separate in the event of a latch failure.


Quick-Disconnect

When using EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL, or Classic base plates, quick-disconnects make it a snap to attach the tow bar to your vehicle. Other methods require you to maneuver each tow bar arm individually and perfectly line up tabs on the arms with tabs on your base plates. Roadmaster's unique design lets you connect and disconnect the tow bar quickly and easily, all by yourself.


The quick-disconnect brackets come in separate pieces. The pieces that are positioned on the ends of each tow bar arm interlock with matching brackets that attach to your Roadmaster base plates. Sandwiched between the tow bar arms is a sturdy crossbar that essentially turns the arms into a single structure. This crossbar allows you to lower the tow bar as a single piece onto the quick-disconnect brackets on your towed car so that you don't have to connect each arm separately. When lowering the tow bar onto the brackets, make sure that the tab on each bracket lines up with the hole in the matching bracket. Then just insert the linch pins through the holes in the tabs on top to secure the brackets together. To remove the tow bar, simply remove the pins and lift the tow bar off of the brackets. These convenient brackets also make it simple to mount any number of Roadmaster accessories, from basic safety cables to the Guardian rock shield.


Quick-Disconnect

If you have MS, MX, or EZ5 base plates, the arms will connect directly to the base plates. Just remove the quick-disconnect brackets from the ends of the arms and you will be left with lugs that fit into the base plate brackets. Once the lugs are set inside of the brackets, simply insert the included pins to secure them in place.

FEA test

This Falcon 2 tow bar has been subjected to rigorous physical and computerized testing to ensure that it meets Roadmaster's exceptionally high standards. Throughout the design process, Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA) is done. Each of these tests display a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a durable, strong, and safe product.


Simple, Secure Storage

The Falcon 2 can easily be folded up and stored on the back of your RV when not in use.


Storage Process

After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, collapse the arms and push them together so that they are side by side. Then fold the arms up toward the RV and the storage latch will automatically engage to hold the tow bar in place.


Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.


There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.


FlatTowing Components

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part number RM-520. So, if you're looking for a tow bar that has the ability to store on your RV's, you're not having to take it on and off, but also be extremely easy and simple to hook up, the Falcon 2 is going to be a great option for you.It's going to slide into the receiver hitch on your motor home, and we're not going to have to worry about a ball mount. Now in our application, we are using a high-low adaptor, which is not included. Our tow bar is designed to work with two inch by two inch receiver tube openings, and has a capacity of 6,000 pounds. Now on the vehicle side, it's just going to be a simple quick hookup to our base plate, and it's going to work with all Roadmaster base plates, as well as some Blue Ox base plates with an adaptor that is sold separately.Our tow bar's going to feature telescoping arms, which is going to give us a really large hookup radius, which means it's going to be a lot easier to hook up to our vehicle without having to be directly in line right behind our motor home. Do allow for better maneuverability and easier towing, and the stainless steel construction of the inner arm allows for smooth operations.There's a self-lubricating nylon bushing that's in between the outer and inner arm, allowing the arms to move freely and provide a long lasting system.

Now with the arm in this position, it is locked and ready to tow, but if we come back to this button right here, and push down, it'll unlock it and allow us to store it.To stow the tow bar, we just simply push the arms together, and we can lift them up and that nut on the back here is going to line up with this lever with the hole in the middle. It's going to lock it into place, and then we can simply turn it to one side or the other, and it'll store right on the back of our motor home.Our tow bar is going to feature a nice black power coat finish, which is going to keep it looking nice and lasting a long time. The length of our tow bar with the arms collapsed, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the mounting location in the vehicle, is going to be right about 41 and 3/4 inches long, and with the arm fully extended, it's going to be a total of 53 inches long. With everything hooked up right here, we're ready to hit the road.And now to finish up your look at the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part number RM-520. Speaker 2: Alright guys, so what do you think about the Falcon 2 Tow Bar Speaker 3: I think it's a really good entry level tow bar.

It's not got all the bells and whistles of some of the other tow bars, but it's very good construction, good quality. It'll last forever as long as you don't back up with it, or do something to bend it or whatever. Speaker 2: How's the installation of this compare to other tow bars Speaker 1: Well, I like it because it just goes straight into the receiver. You don't got to mess with a ball mount, or any kind of an adaptor or anything, as long as you have a two inch receiver, it'll go right in, and then on the other end, it comes with a quick disconnect, so it makes it quick and easy to get on the car side as well. Speaker 2: And this tow bar is compatible with all the different Roadmaster base plates Speaker 1: No, there is some that it's not, but we break it down pretty good and we'll tell you which one it is compatible with, and what they're not.

Speaker 3: So this one would be compatible with EZ4 or EZ5 base plates, just when you're using the EZ5, you wouldn't need the crossbar portion. With the EZ4 you need the crossbar and the quick disconnect, and the brackets. So it depends on which base plate you have, you can adapt it to whichever one. The other thing is it will store on the motor home, so when you're done, you're at your camping destination, you can take the crossbar off .. or the tow bar off the car and store it on the back of the motor home and leave it there.

No worries there. Speaker 2: How does it compare to the other motor home mount tow bars Speaker 3: This one is probably one of the, like I said earlier, entry level. It is not a non-binding tow bar, so once you get it in the locked position like it is now, you have to press this small button, you get it to slide back in, and then that locks it, but if the tow bar gets bound and the car is not level and the back of the motor home are not perfectly straight, this button will be really hard to push. And there's an additional pry bar basically that you have to use to get enough pressure to push down on that button without damaging it, and to allow the crossbar, or the bar to retract. Speaker 2: That kind of leads us to my next question, and it is why would somebody either choose this or not choose it Speaker 1: Well, I think not choosing it, that would be the biggest thing, is that it's not non-binding, because if you had towed before, you can't always get inaudible 00:05:04 behind it, perfectly behind the motor home and disconnecting. That's probably the biggest challenge is once you go to push the button, and you're fighting it, but as far picking it, why they wouldn't pick it, it has a nice hookup and it's got really long arms, which means you can hook up pretty easy, so they give you the access to where you don't have to be right behind it to hook up, but like I said, the same time you go to unhook that's where the downside's going to come into play. Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a really good, like I said, entry level tow bar, somebody that's not wanting to spend a whole lot of money, then you buy this tow bar, it's more economical in the non-binding styles, and they can get into it for a little bit, and then once they've towed and they decide they're actually going to keep doing this, and they want something that doesn't cause them that binding issue when they're unhooking, they can always upgrade. Speaker 4: I think it's a great option since we're able to store it on the motor home. You don't have to worry about some of the ones that store on the front of the car and fold up, like the A-frame style that drop down on to a standard ball on the back of the motor home, so it's one less thing to worry about taking it apart when you're at the campsite. You just unhook it, fold it back up and you're done. Speaker 2: Yup. Alright, thanks guys.

In February 2016 I bought a used Class A Motorhome with came with a Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar. After a couple of trips around the country in my motorhome, I quickly realized why the majority of motorhomes I saw had a vehicle in tow. I searched for a decent tow vehicle and in June purchased a 2003 Chevy Tracker. I didn't know anything about Raodmaster or the quality of their products so I started reading reviews from satisfied owners and quickly realized I had a very good tow bar so I researched what I needed to hook it up on my Tracker. I got acquainted with eTrailer when I purchased the Base Plates to attach my Raodmaster Falcon tow bar to my Tracker. Derek at eTrailer was very helpful and took the time ensuring that I had the right parts to use with my used tow bar. The customer service I received was outstanding. I actually received my base plates the next day with free shipping! The installation instructions were clear and concise and I installed the base plates in about 1 hour and was ready to go. I took several trips (about 4,000 miles) with my Tracker in tow behind me and never had any issues. My Falcon Tow Bar I got with my RV is at least 10 years old and I considered buying a new one but I didn't want or need to spend the extra money since there really wasn't anything wrong with it. Then my last trip of the year (end of November) I was about 75 miles away from home running 75 mph (in traffic), when my Tracker (in tow behind me) was rear-ended on the highway. This accident could have been catastrophic but it wasn't. My old Falcon Tow Bar absorbed the majority of the impact! Needless to say, the tow bar was destroyed but the RV and Tracker never let go of each other. After settling up with the insurance company and fixing my Tracker, when it came time to buy a new tow bar, the Roadmaster Falcon II and eTrailer was a no-brainer. We replaced an accident damaged Falcon 2 with a new Falcon 2 after towing a truck behind our RV for over 24,000 miles thru 41-states and Canada in mountains and flat land with excellent results. We were blessed our accident occured on the entrance road to a campground and not on the highway. The drop down hitch completely severed between the coach and the tow bar, of which we now suspect was rated to close to the maximum load. So we corrected that situation before towing with a much higher rated 12,000# hitch. I towed my '04 Jeep Wrangler with my '15 GMC 2500. Houston to Crested Butte, CO. Everything performed just like it was supposed to. The Falcon 2 was easy to connect and disconnect. I have used "ball hitch" tow bars in the past and did not trust that style for the hills, curves, back roads and long haul towing. The Falcon 2 has a vertical pivot joint just south of the receiver coupler that seems to ease the stress on hitch and tow bar. I bought from etrailer.com because of price and availability. I received it 5-6 days after placing my order. Also, I purchased a 7 pin to 6 pin molded connector cable from etrailer.com because I could not find one locally. My local options were to buy pieces to build my own cable. No thanks. 418270

I am very happy with my resent purchase of the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar and the Roadmaster XL Base Plate. It took me about 3 hours to install the base plate. The directions that came with the product and the instructional video on etrailer.com were a big help. The Falcon 2 Tow bar is easy to setup and use right away. I will be towing a 2015 Ford Explorer behind my RV. I have not used the setup with my RV, but I did tow the Explorer around the block a few times with my F150, just to see how it all hooked up. It was incredibly easy. Way better than dealing with a tow dolly, like I have for the past two years. 334679

Easy to assemble and connect. Easy to disconnect and stow. Not a good idea to disconnect on an incline; that is, when the toad is inclined uphill. The release buttons are impossible, and some one else would need to start the engine, engage the xmsn and gently move forward enough to operate the release buttons. Not a good idea! If level or inclined downward slightly; works fine. The tow bar stows vertically, if so desired, which I do. I wrap the the whole unit in a water proof canvas to keep water out.
