Updated 01/13/2026 | Published 01/10/2026

Question:

Good day, Ive been reading through your QandA trying to find a full flat tow package for a 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth w/Turbo and not having much luck. I have found a few components that I believe will work Can you recommend all of the components that I would need to flat tow my Fiat behind my Class C RV? I prefer Roadmaster components and my car has separate turn signals. Thanks James

Hey James! I would be happy to help you out with this. You will need the base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental brake system. For a Roadmaster setup compatible with the Abarth Turbo I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 522013-1A

-Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00

-Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar # RM27NQ

-Roadmaster 80" Hybrid Coiled-to-Straight Safety Cables # RM-674

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267

-Curt RVi Series Shadow 2 Flat Tow Brake System # RVI94FR (includes charge line)

The only other thing you may need is a high-low adapter like the etrailer High-Low Adjustable Adapter for Tow Bars # e52ZV to keep you level. I went ahead and linked an article further down on this page which explains how to measure and choose the right adapter.

Any big trips planned once you get your Fiat set up for towing?

Thanks Robin. Do i need the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00? Does it replace the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 522013-1A? Or is it just another way to connect the tow bar? Also, Can I use the Demco Braking System #SM99251?

@JamesL you need the # 910021-00 so the tow bar can connect to the # 522013-1A. That is the only way to do it since Roadmaster doesn't have a Direct Connect base plate for your vehicle. You can use the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251 as well. If you go this route you will also need to add the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 and the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751455.

@RobinH Thanks, that makes sense. I'll get your list put together than. One other question. Do I need the Roadmaster Falcon 3HD Tow Bar # RM27NQ as it's for a 10K vehicle? or is there a smaller one that works with this set up?

@Jamesl how about the Falcon 2 # RM-520. Then you will need the Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643 instead of the others because they don't have channels for them.

I have a 2015 fiat 500C and use this flat tow system to tow my car. Have put about 15K on it since I installed the tow system. It works very good. I added some rock blocker flaps on my motor home. I am assuming that your fiat is a standard transmission. A few things I learned: 1. needs lubrication on a regular basis (I use PTFE lubricant spray) 2. I ended up marking the inserts for the crossbar assembly (left and right) 3. I learned the hard way to keep the emergency break on when removing the system. 4. Installation of the crossbar mounting points was difficult, the holes did not exactly line up and it was hard to thread the bolts. I ended up re-tapping the treads. I would recommend checking the alignment before installing the bolts and make adjustments to the holes if needed.

Etrailer has helped us out many times. We purchased our tow from E for our lil fiat! It has served us well and so easy to hook up. I mostly do it by myself. It’s so easy peasy! Also had them order an electric step for our Motor Home too! Glad we went to Etrailer for what we needed. They’re also very friendly!
