Question:

Im considering a 2024 Chevy Equinox LT FWD. Can this be flat towed behind my 38 Diesel Pusher? I am in MD near Washington, DC. Are there installers near me?

Yes, it can! The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox LT can indeed be flat towed. Here are the parts you will need to tow it behind your diesel pusher:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar item # RM-520 and item # RM-643

Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # RM-523193-5

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM38FR for LED lights or item # RM26FR for Incandescent Lights

Battery Disconnect Switch - Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System item # RM-766

Supplemental Braking System - Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes item # DM26VR

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

We do indeed have installers in the DC area. What you will want to do is go to the item # DM26VR part page and scroll down below the pictures and videos. On the left side of the page will be a link that says, Locate installers near me. Go ahead and click on this link and it'll take you to a page that prompts you to input your zip code. Once you do this you'll be able to access our network of reputable installers in your area.

Thanks Jared. Do you know the sequence I should follow to flat tow my Equinox? It is a FWD model. I am seeing articles written and videos by others who say it is a difficult model to flat tow. Thanks, Jimmy

@Jimmy I sure do Jimmy! I have listed them below: 1. Position the vehicle to be towed and secure it to the towing vehicle. 2. Start the vehicle. 3. If equipped with AWD, engage the AWD system and confirm that it is on. SKIP this step 4. Move the shift lever to N (Neutral). 5. Then, put the vehicle into accessory mode by pressing ENGINE START/STOP one time without the brake pedal applied. An amber light will appear in the button when in accessory mode. The chime will ring continuously for 30 minutes. Leave the transmission in N (Neutral). 6. Turn off all accessories that are not needed. They also list that a charge line is required to charge the battery while towing so you'll want to pick up the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25. They list that going over 65 mph can cause damage to the vehicle so you'll want to remain under this speed. With the instrument cluster being turned off it will not track miles traveled.

@JerredH Hello Jerred, and thanks for all your valuable assistance. I just took delivery of my Equinox and I am ready to make my purchase of the base plate and a few other accessories. I see you list Roadmaster parts. My motorhome already has a Blue Ox system. Do I need a Blue Ox Baseplate? I have the round connector on the back of my motorhome. I already have a BrakeBuddy. So, I believe all I need is the correct base plate, the battery disconnect, and the 7 way to 6 way adapter for my LED lights on my Equinox. Is this correct? Thanks, Jimmy

@Jimmy Hey Jimmy! Welcome back, congrats on picking up your Equinox! I would definitely go with a Blue Ox baseplate since it sounds like that's what kind of tow bar you have. The correct one is item # BX1730. The battery disconnect switch is item # RM-766 and for the lights you'll want the Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights with 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord item # RM38FR. Since you already have a supplemental braking system, once you get these parts set up you'll be ready to go.
