Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with a 2014 Silverado 1500

Question:
If you already have Roadmaster base plates installed on your 2005 Jeep Wrangler then the RoadMaster Base Plate to Blue Ox and Demco Tow Bars Adapter # RM-033 and the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 are a great selection. If you don't already have a base plate kit installed then you will need to choose one from the linked selection as they are bumper specific. If you are unsure what you have just send me a photo and I can identify what you have. Since the Blue Ox Alpha comes with safety cables you will only need a wiring kit, supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter to finish up your flat towing setup. If you will only be towing this way once in awhile then you will probably want to go with a magnetic tow light option like # TL21RK. Otherwise I recommend going with the Roadmaster # RM-15267 for wiring. Going this route you will also need the brake light relay # RM-88400 if you use a supplemental braking system (which it looks like you will be). Unfortunately there are no systems that will activate the brakes in your Jeep with the brake controller in your 2014 SIlverado 1500. Again, if you will only be towing once in awhile the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR is an excellent portable system that can be transferred between multiple vehicles. If you will be towing frequently then a more permanent solution like part # SM99251 will be more beneficial. To determine if a high-low adapter is needed for your flat towing application I have attached a link to one of our helpful articles. I have also attached a link to our selection of adapters should you need one.
