How To Use a Tow Bar With a Poison Spyder Front Bumper on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Updated 02/02/2025 | Published 01/31/2025

Question:

Will the Blue Ox base plate be compatible with my Poison Spyder Brawler front bumper? I’m ok with modifying it a little if I have to. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU.

Hey Mark! I do have an option for you but the Blue Ox item # BX1126 is designed to be used with the factory front bumper on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU only.

I took a look at the Poison Spyder Brawler front bumper. It does have d-rings, which means you should be able to attach a tow bar directly to these with an adapter. Simply put you won't need a base plate at all.

It looks like the d-rings are 3/4" thick so you could use the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts item # RM-035. Please note that these only work with Roadmaster tow bars like the Falcon 2 item # RM-520.

I highly recommend you check with the manufacturer Poison Spyder to make sure the D-rings can be used for flat-towing. If you have any additional questions or concerns feel free to reach out in the comment box below.

Turns out it does work with my bumper. The base plate sits lower than the bumper mounts. My jeep is lifted to the point I wasn’t comfortable attaching to my RV with the D-Rings.

@Mark That's awesome Mark! Glad that worked out for you. Blue Ox and Roadmaster don't test out their baseplate kits on aftermarket parts so we have no way of verifying whether or not it will fit.

@JerredH I’ll see if I can post some pictures. Maybe help someone with the same question.
