    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Can Tire Chains be Used on a 2016 Subaru Forester and Do they Go on the Front or Rear Wheels
In the owner's manual for your 2016 Subaru Forester it states that you can use traction devices on the front wheels only just not actual chains. This means you can use cables, Snow Socks, or K-Summit chains that only go on the tread. You didn't mention the tire size you have so if they are 225/55-18 or 225/60-17 tires you can use cables # TC339DC or Snow Socks # TCH70. If the tires are a different size let me know what they are and I can make other recommendations.

  • Can Tiitan Chain Tire Chains # TC339DC be Used on Highway or have Snow Depth and Speed Requirements
Titan Chain Tire Chains # TC339DC meet DOT requirements in all states for any roadway on which chains are required and/or can be used but aren't required by law. There isn't a specific minimum or maximum snow depth for these chains. As far as speed goes most chains including these are rated for 30 miles per hour but if you have to use chains then it is possible that even 30 miles per hour is too fast!

  • Tire Chains for 225/55R17 Tires on a 2008 Subaru Outback Wagon
We have numerous tire chains that will fit the 225/55-17 tires on your 2008 Subaru Outback. I have included a link to the options below. For infrequent use a set of cables such as # TC339DC would be all you would need. For more frequent use I recommend something more substantial such as the Titan chains # TC1553. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. We can ship many of our products to Canada. You can estimate shipping cost...

  • Recommended S-Class Spring Cable Tire Chains for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
The online edition of the manual for the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek indicates on page 8-11 that low-profile S-Class spring chains can be used on the front tires only. Since a given tire chain is made to fit only certain specific tire sizes you will also want to check the sidewall of your tires to find their size designation, such as P225/60R17 and P225/55R18. I linked two pages showing our range of S-Class chains for both of these two tire sizes that can come on the Crosstrek. For the P225/60R17...

  • Tire Chains for a 2008 Volvo S-80 AWD
When a vehicle owner's manual or manufacturer says something like Use only Volvo approved chains that means they want you to buy them from Volvo or a Volvo dealer when in reality they should just tell you what makes chains approved or not. Basically you will need Class S compatible chains or cables because there is limited clearance between the tires and vehicle components. Also, on your vehicle the chains should only be used on the front wheels. If you are able to turn off any type of...

Yes we do have snow cables that fit the tire size of 225/50-18 that you have on your 2021 BMW X1 with the part # TC339DC. These are great for one time use or to have as an emergency, but if you wanted something with similar clearance that will last a very long time, provide better traction, and installs in a matter of seconds you'd instead want the Konig Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115104 which are also a fit for your tire size.

  • Recommended Class S Tire Chains for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with 225/60-17 Tires
Tire chains that use cables, like what you find with part # TC339DC, are pretty much a one-time use as they are essentially a cheap way to say that you have chains when the law requires it. If you're needing to use actual chains then I have a few options that are Class S compatible and will fit the 225/60R17 tires on your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The Konig CB12 # TH01221104 are the next step up, will be easier to install, and will be a major upgrade to entry-level cable-style chains when...

  • How Many Snow Socks to Use on a 2016 Subaru Forester
Since your 2016 Subaru Forester is all wheel drive (AWD), I recommend using a traction device on each tire. The general rule is to place the traction device on each powered axle. If you do not have a full set of four autosocks then you can add an additional two using the SSE Hybrid Snow Socks part # TCH70. I would also like to mention that certain situations require an actual chain/cable to be used even though the owner's manual does not recommend it. If you live or will be traveling in...

However with that being said, we certainly understand certain states and conditions require the use of them therefore the choice will be ultimately up to you.
