    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles
  • Provides alternative to heavy, bulky snow chains
    • Low-profile rollers wrap around wire cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links
    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon with Tire Size 225/60R18
We have similar tire cables to the Titan set you referenced that do fit your tire size of 225/60R18 like with the # PW1046 from Glacier but the # TC343DC would not fit. If you wanted my recommendation though I would go with the Konig Easy Fit chains part # TH04115245 since this provides the ultimate in traction, durability, and ease of install. These literally install in a matter of seconds and don't require you to roll around on the ground at all to install either. Check out the install...

  • Best Tire Cables for a 2018 Buick Regal TourX with 235/50-18 Tires
If you are referring to the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC343DC then yes, these cables will fit the 235/50-18 tires that you have on your 2018 Buick Regal TourX. They have a diagonal pattern for improved traction and ride quality when compared to ladder style. They also come with adjusters to help keep the cables centered on the wheel. I have attached a review video for you.

  • Should I Get Snow Socks, Cables, Or Chains For My 2022 Subaru Forester?
The ISSE Classic Snow Socks # TCH70 will meet the Department of Transportation requirements in all states, but they will not be very effective if you do end up hitting snow. Due to this, I tend to steer people away from this option and towards one that will get you better traction when you need it most. The Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC343DC will do a much better job than the socks will, but even these are really only intended for one season. With that said, I...

  • Recommended Snow Chains for a 2019 Subaru Forester w/ 225/60R17 Tires
I have a great option for you but the tire chains that use cables, like item # TC343DC, are only good for a one time use. They are pretty cheap and are a way to check the box and say you have tire chains when the law requires it. For a set of chains that are Class S compatible and will fit the 225/60R17 tires on your 2019 Subaru Forester I recommend the Konig Tire Chains item # TH01221104. The diamond pattern chains provide more chain contact, which ultimately leads to better traction...

  • Recommended Snow Cable Tire Chains for 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon
The owner's manual for your 2018 Subaru Outback specifically states that traditional chain link style Tire Chains should not be used because of the lack of clearance to the wheel well and between the inside of the wheel well and the suspension/braking components. It goes on to say that Class S cable chains are acceptable, and should only be used on the front wheels. I'd recommend going with the Titan Chain # TC343DC Diagonal allow Cable Snow Chains, which is a fit for your tire size. The...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2019 Subaru Outback
We do have fits for your 2019 Subaru Outback tires that are size 225/65-17. I did take a look at the owner's manual and while it says tire chains should not be used, it does allow the use of traction devices that are Class S compatible on the front wheels. For this I recommend the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC343DC because the cables are in a diagonal, V-shaped pattern for the best traction in light snow. I have added a link to a video review of these cables...

  • Recommended Traction Device for a 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon with 225/65-17 Tires
According to the owner's manual for your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, tire chains cannot be used on this vehicle due to limited clearance between the tires and vehicle body. However, I do still have options for you. For your 225/65-17 tires, I recommend taking a look at a set of tire cables such as the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC1042 for ladder style or part # TC343DC for v-style. Generally speaking, ladder bar style tire cables will be a bit more cost effective in comparison...

  • Tire Chains for a 2008 Volvo S-80 AWD
When a vehicle owner's manual or manufacturer says something like Use only Volvo approved chains that means they want you to buy them from Volvo or a Volvo dealer when in reality they should just tell you what makes chains approved or not. Basically you will need Class S compatible chains or cables because there is limited clearance between the tires and vehicle components. Also, on your vehicle the chains should only be used on the front wheels. If you are able to turn off any type of...

  • Comparing Titan Chain # TC1042 And # TC343DC Tire Chains For A 2020 Subaru Crosstrek Premium
Hi Leigh, The Titan Chain Cable Tire Chain # TC1042 are not a fit for your tire size but the Titan Chain Cable Tire Chain # TC343DC are. The owner's manual states not to use tire chains but if you absolutely have to then you'll need class S compatible chains. The # TC343DC are class S compatible but cable-style chains really aren't effective so I'd recommend the Konig Tire Chains # TH01221104 over them if you're going to use any. These are also class S compatible and offer assisted...

  • Recommended Distance and Speed for Snow Tire Cable Chains on 2015 Chevy Impala
There is not a limit to the miles you can drive on Snow Chains for your tires. There is a speed limit rating of 30 mph, and you should not use them on dry pavement, other than that, there are no limitations. For your 2015 Chevy Impala, I recommend the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC343DC. These will fit if you have the factory size tires 235/50-18 or 245/40-20. If you have the factory 245/45-19, then I recommend the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW1042 along...

  • How Many Snow Cables/Chains Are Needed for a 2019 Subaru Outback
Correct, the owner's manual for a 2019 Subaru Outback states to only use traction devices on the front two wheels. The Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC729DC for 225/60-18 tires or part # TC343DC for 225/65-17 tires are the best cables to use as the v-track pattern ensures constant traction and the included tensioners help keep the cables centered on the tire.

  • Which Snow Tire Chains Will Fit My 2013 Audi A6 Tires?
We do have low-profile snow tire chains for your 2013 Audi A6. You can go with a cable design or a chain design. Cables are lower profile, easier to use, and are less-likely to damage your vehicle if they somehow come undone while driving. Chains on the other hand are thicker and more aggressive for heavier snow and also could potentially cause more damage than cables if they happened to break. That being said, I recommend going with a cable setup, but I will give you options for each style. If...

Spring chains are basically cables like the Titan part # TC343DC which are a fit for your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon tire size 235/60R17. These are great for one time use applications with low clearance. The best low clearance tire chain is the Konig K-Summit part # TH022230K55 as it doesn't drape over the inside sidewall of the tire at all. These last a very long time and they also install easily.
