2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Video Transcript for Titan Alloy Snow Tire Chains Review

Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at Titan Chains Alloy Snow Tire Chains. One thing I do like about these tire chains compared to your ladder chains, we don't have any connection to make around back. A lot of the times underneath, we have the climb on the ground, go around back, and then connect it. This way it's just up top here so we don't have to get down in the snow. Because if you're putting snow tire chains on your tires, there's probably going to be snow on the ground.

You don't want to be rolling around in that.We do have some square links that are going to be made of manganese nickel alloy steel, so it's going to help resist rust and corrosion and just keep it from wearing down really quickly. It is SAE S Class certified, so it is going to give you a smooth ride and fit pretty well in your wheel well. It does have a diamond pattern, which is going to give you really good traction for stopping and acceleration. One thing I really do like about these tire chains is it does have a built in tensioner, which a lot of the times you're supposed to get these rubber tensioners that aren't attached to your chains, and I know I would probably lose them. Definitely it being completely attached to the chains is going to be a plus for me, just so you don't lose them. Also, this does have a speed rating of 30 miles an hour so we do suggest not going over that speed. It also comes with a pretty nice carrying case.

It's going to last a little bit longer than those canvas bags, those usually rip over time. This one, it's made of sturdier construction and has a zipper. You're going to keep your chains neat and organized in this case and you're not going to lose them. If you have an all wheel drive or four wheel drive application, all you really have to do is buy two sets. It does come in a pair of two and it's going to be the same exact installation process on both sides.

Let's just go ahead and get to it.The first thing we're going to want to do is lay out our chains and make sure there's no kinks in our links. If that's all looking good we can go ahead and fish this behind our tire. Once we have them back there we can put our hands in our wheel wells, grab both ends, and connect them. While we're back here, we're going to grab these chains and drape them over. We do want to make sure that this straight line here is going to be in the middle of our tire tread.

Once we have that set we can go ahead and take our green hook here to try to get it clipped on this yellow excess of chain.Once we get that and everything's nice and even, one thing I do want to note, you guys can see back in here, there's two different ends. We have the open section with these two pieces of metal. We want that facing away from our tire because we want to have that smooth part up against our rubber just so we don't damage our tires when in use.If all that checks out, you get this green hook connected, and then we can take our tensioning device which is actually built in, which is definitely a plus for me because I misplace stuff all the time, we're going to place it like so and give it a good tug and make sure it's nice and tight. Once we get that, we're going to go ahead and put them through these red loops. Once we do that, we'll come over here and connect them to the yellow part of our chain.Once we have all that set up, we want to make sure and see if it's tight, and if it is, we do recommend rolling over it a couple more times and then coming back out and make sure that tension stays as it is. If it is, we're ready to hit the road.Well everyone, thanks for tuning in and taking a look at our Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains.

So far so good, I received the chains in a timely manner and they look great, came in a nice case. I have a V6 Honda Accord and was worried about wheel clearance with the chains on. Upon inspection I can see that the links are large enough to be effective but small enough to clear the wheel well - his under (no snow) conditions. I will finish initial review after I drive around. 734493

Chevrolet Colorado

We used the tire chains when travelling through southern Colorado over the Christmas period. We actually got bogged on the side of the road after an unscheduled stop. Even stuck in the mud and snow, the chains were really easy to fit with minimal trouble and got us out of the snow in no time. Really happy and fit perfectly. 576643

Chains arrived very quickly. Price was excellent, and chains are as advertised. Attractive and convenient carrying case make it easy to keep them handy in vehicle. The online installation video was good - definitely watch it before your first install. Definitely do a trial run before you really need them! Installation is pretty easy if the chains aren't all tangled up when you take them out of the case. So, take care when you put them away and it will make it easier the next time you use them. I would call these chains "light-duty" - the links are smallish. I wouldn't recommend themif you use chains a lot, but they are fine for me: I just need them those rare times when I really need to be out in chain-up conditions. 458264

Excellent company to deal with. Great customer service and product ships quickly. My most recent experience was related to on-going part replacement delays for a snow chain set I purchased last year. The issue was resolved with an entirely new chain so I at least have a fully functional and complete set on my next snow trip ensuring effective and safe travel. Thank you so much for on-going great service and support. 439882

2016 Honda Civic

I bought these chains prior to heading up to the Southern California mountains. They arrived extremely quick (about 3 days) after I ordered. The snow chains were very useful when I ran into a patch of ice on the way up the mountain. They are very easy to install/uninstall, unlike many of other types of snow chains you will find on the market. I would definitely recommend these snow chains to anyone heading up to the mountains during the winter that does not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle equipped with snow tires. 328378

2015 Toyota Camry

I just received my Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains. These are a nifty alternative to chains that require jacking up the car and they look a lot more functional than cable chains. I just finished trying them on my 2015 Camry. It took a bit of time to untangle them out of the carry case but once that was done, the instructions were super helpful. I am closing in on 70 years old and had no problem getting the chains on. However, I did need to back out of my garage and re-tighten. My husband took about half the time (but I was coaching him!). I think in a snow situation, I would opt to untangle each chain in the back seat, then lay them out. Also, note that a small tarp will fit into the carry bag. I'm now feeling a lot better about heading over the mountains over the holidays. Thanks for a great product. 324751

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

These chains are by far the easiest chains I have ever put on or taken off a truck 10 minutes to put on and five minutes to take off. I am in a wheelchair so getting on the ground is not the easiest thing to do so with these chains taking so little time to put on it is a blessing. No Jack and no running them over to put them on. You may have to drive over them to take them off. Used one set last winter to plow a 6 1/2 mike gravel road and did awesome so I bought a set for the front. 694521

Still running strong. due to my own fault I had to replace 2 links as I spun my tires on bare frozen gravel road . But they are still a amazing chain

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

The titan Chain Diamond Lt Alloy Chain-sq Link work great on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. It’s been a year since I bought them, and I knew they fit because I practiced at home, but last weekend I used them in the snow for real. Easy to install, not too much vibration while driving, and easy to take off. Bonus: they fit easily back into the case! Never had a set of chains that easy to put away. 733031

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

Looking for snow chains for a 4x4 truck with larger tires is no easy task. Working with etrailer team via email, was very smooth and easy, my questions answered. I selected the TC2539 chain set due to the diamond pattern that has better sidewall traction and holding strength for use on off road trails during off camber driving. Upon receipt, I quickly reviewed and sent the team an email asking about the square lug size that I measured vs the stated data on the website. My questions where quickly and professional addressed and resolved. In the era of wanting and needing everything yesterday, and almost every company going away from human contact, etrailers is the pleasant exception with both personal email and telephone contact. This is not my first purchase with etrailers and won't be my last, it was a very nice experience to deal with the team. Rating is on my service contact. I have just received the new chains at the end of the snow season, so haven't yet run these chains. Past chains have been the same style and were great, much quieter on the road than ladder time due to extra contact. Thanks 475732

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

I have used these a few times in the snow and ice to be able to tow my 11000 lb fifth-wheel trailer. The provided enough traction to tow my trailer up a 6% hill from where it was parked. (chains on all four wheels 4x4) These are easy to install. I did have an issue when trying to install after getting into some snow. I was unable to get the proper tension and they would come off. Broke a couple of links. They come with a few repair links. Once they are on properly, they are good. This was also while towing the trailer, which is really the only time I need them. 745229

Review from a similar Diamond Alloy in Tire Chains

We purchased some snow chains. We did what was recommended by the etrailers representative, which was to try putting them on the car before we actually got into snow country. We were very glad we took her advice. Coming from California we didn't have any experience in putting chains on, but with the step by step pictures we were able to figure how to put them on in about 1/2 hour. It was very simple. We haven't used them yet, but they look like they will work great. Thanks 152157
