Question:
Hello, Im interested in purchasing the Konig Diamond Pattern D Link CB12 snow chains for my 2016 VW GTI. The wheels currently on my car are 225/40 18 and I have found the correct size chains size 97. However, I am planning on changing my wheels and tires in the future so they would be 235/40 18 and the correct size for those wheels is size 100. Would it be ok to use size 97 chains on a 235/40 18 tire or size 100 on a 225/40 18 tire? I would prefer to only buy one set of chains now that could last me through both tires, instead of changing them in the future. Would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Before you select a set of tire chains you will need to review the owner's manual for your 2016 Volkswagen Golf. From my research, tire chains can be used on the vehicle if they are installed only on the front two wheels and are less than 15 mm thick.
With that being said the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains are only 12 mm thick therefore will work well for you. However, for the 235/40-18 tires you will want to use part # TH01221100 (Size 100) and for the 225/40-18 tires you will want to use part # TH01221097 (Size 97). Unfortunately, I cannot recommend you use either tire chain on both wheels as the manufacturer states not to.
For a set of tire chains with a link thickness less than 15 mm that will fit both 235/40-18 and 225/40-18 tires, I recommend taking a look at the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC339DC. The Titan snow cables will provide good traction in light snow and have included rubber adjusters to provide a snug fit.
