I appreciate that there are [install] videos that show how to put these on. All you are practically doing is hugging your tires on your vehicle. The chains worked great and easy to put back into the box for safe keeping next use.

Great chains. I use a set of four on a subaru outback. Living at elevation, snow and ice. Not uncommon wintertime scene. Pretty easy on (have a pair of leather gloves and headlamp), five minutes ideally to get all four on in the dark. Practice with them before the storm. Very easy off. Will vibrate your teeth out if travelling on plowed roads, but that's not what they're intended for anyway. Take them off and throw them in the trunk.

Chains arrived earlier than estimated on the website. High quality, good price. Got them for emergencies, have not had to use them yet.

Product exactly as described. Easy to install. Bruno and I looked at the chain and said, "now what." After looking at the instructional video we put them on in no time. Hope I don't need them on my trip but ready if needed.

This is my go to snow chains for easy to put on and take off quickly. You do need a round rubber ring to keep the chain really nice and tight. I find the self tightening system is okay but with a rubber ring to tighten the chains down, it is a lot better

This is a life saver. Having a rear wheel drive car (Genesis) the snow and ice of the past month made it impossible to drive. Got these and haven't had a problem since. Was considering buying snow tires for my car but for 500 dollars for just two tires for my car got these instead, and glad i did.

Great product at the best price anywhere. I called to place my order rather than making it online because I had a question about shipping time just before Christmas. The lady who took my call was extremely helpful. Regular shipping was free, and she found and followed through with express shipping for just $7. She was super nice too.

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

I bought these same brand chains two years ago for my Corolla. These chains have worked extremely good for me on the steep icy highway during a really heavy snow storm. Other cars with the typical cable chains were sliding all over the place, but our car made it through without sliding. I was more worried about the other cars sliding into me, than about my car making it through. The highway was eventually closed down about 5-10 minutes after us getting through. For light snow or almost bare pavement with patches of snow these chains are sort of over kill. I have used them maybe 10 to 15 times but on my last trip one of the chains broke. I believe the ball broke off from the inside hook of the chain. I would prefer if the inner attachment was more like a hook (like they typically use on ladder chains) which I think would be more robust. I have had a number of balls breaking off on my ladder type chains, so to me it seems like that is the weak link in this chain design. Installation is pretty easy but that rubber hook at the end is also hard to install in the cold. Also getting the chains off after that terrible snow storm was difficult. The inner ball/hook was completely frozen together. So be sure to have something in the car to chip the ice away if needed. On warmer, less severe days it isn't a problem. Overall they are a great chain to carry with me for those ski trips.

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

I have to say I'm extremely satisfied with these tire chains!! They're so aggressive and work well with my corolla. My at is front wheel drive and the weight of the motors sits perfectly in line with the tire/chain combination. They bite and dig right in the snow and ice. My drive way is very long as you can see and quite dangerous in snowy conditions. I've had numerous times where I've had to slip the chains on and it was a breeze. They're so easy to put on and off. I feel extremely confident throughout the winter season with the Thule tire chains in the back of my trunk. Thank you so much! You guys have great products going!

Hi, Austin. Thanks for the review. I just purchased these same chains and am wondering if you have ever had any problem with the chains scratching or damaging the rims? Thanks

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

I had never heard of ETrailer before I began searching for the Konig snow chains that I wanted. Lower price on a site worries me and usually means you won’t get your order in time or possibly ever. The morning after I order I got an email updating me that the MFG had delayed their order. No big deal because I’m not in a hurry but I replied to the email for the heck of it. I was pleasantly surprised that a person replied to my reply who apologized again that there would be a delay. I continued to get updates from real people daily and throughout the packing and shipping of my chains. I’m by nature suspicious and don't trust a lot of online stores. For instance, the same night that I ordered from ETrailer I ordered Xmas gift from Wilson sports. I could never checked the status of my shipment on their site and when I asked for the status of my shipment I got an automated reply. I received my snow chains and am still waiting for my football and receiver gloves. I have no idea when they’ll show up. ETrailer is run the way a company should be run. I will always search ETrailer to see if they have anything that I need and have already told all of my friends about this company. Thank you ETrailer employees George J., Justin W. and all of employees that handled my order and got my order to me within 10 calendar days. Awesome service!

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

The snow chains arrived quickly. They appear to the correct size for my tires for my vehicle, but I had difficulty in getting them to fit properly. However, there are two factors to consider: 1) I recently purchased new tires, which are at the maximum tire pressure and 2) I have never used snow chains before, so my experience in installing them was lacking. So, now I will await the net snowfall to try them out on the road for real.

I live on a mountain top in Western North Carolina where one of our recent snow falls left 10 inches of snow the first night. I refer to my driveway as The Roller Coaster because it is so steep and curvy and at 6:30 the morning I first used the chains, it was so covered that I had to guess where it was. I have an '03 Subaru Forester and with my Thule chains, I was able to go where the snow plows hadn't gone with no traction problems whatsoever. It was a week before I was able to safely take them off the car, but they're in the back for the next time I need them. etrailer is fantastic! I ordered the chains on Saturday, Dec 25, got confirmation of my order that same day and had the chains the following Wednesday. I recommend both etrailer and these chains without any reservations on either!

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

I used these chains for the first time to get me home after work when winter storm Jonas hit the east coast. The snow was so deep that I only had trouble when the snow started to pick my car off the ground. I made it all the way home with these chains but did notice a few links broke during the 30 minute drive home. I wasn't going any faster than 20-25 mph on the way home. I couldn't go any faster given how bad the roads were. These chains were easy to install and I did drive a few miles before stopping and retightening them as per the instructions. The chains can be used again even with the broken link but I will have to repair them in the spring or buy new ones next year.

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

Ordered these chains from etrailer.com for my 2007 Prius. First order from this company. Got a heads up call from Preston at etrailer saying there might be delay in shipping ( there wasn’t). Then followed up with call saying they had shipped. Company is obviously ‘customer satisfaction’ focused. Based on my experience with this one order from etrailer I would highly recommend it. Haven’t had to use the chains yet but I know they are quality (Thule) and will work.

Chains arrived well packaged and everything intact. Simple to put on and take off, works well on my 225/45/18 wheels (not an easy size to find). Review on the shipping as well, worried about it arriving on time but the estimate was spot on and arrived when it said it would so kudos for that.

I don't usually submit online reviews but in this case wow what a great company! I ordered some chains for my Lexus ct200h on a Saturday and got a real live phone call on Sunday from Erika stating the product I ordered was out of stock. She recommended these chains instead and not only were they less expensive but they arrived on Thursday just in time for a California ice storm on Friday. I had to put the chains on for the first time on my way home to my house at 5000 foot elevation. I watched the video before leaving work and as promised they went on in a breeze even with the low wheel well clearance. Great company, great product- I couldn't be happier!

Review from a similar CB12 in Tire Chains

Due to our new residence location (Big Bear Lake CA) I've been researching tire chain specs and options. My past experience was only seasonal, but now that we live here permanently I wanted the most effective design and durable materials....not only for my Jeep, but my wife's Honda. Just received both via UPS last week. Nice product and packaging. Now just waiting for the snow!

The Thule CG9 Tire Chains, # TH2004205104, and the CB12 Chains, # TH01221104, are both Class S compatible tire chains and will fit the P225/60R17 tires on your 2013 Subaru Outback. The main difference between the CG9 and CB12 chains is that the CB12 tire chains are manual tensioning chains and the CG9 chains are have automatic tensioning. The CB12 chains are also rated for off-road and on-road use. The CG9 chains are for on-road use only. I would go with the CG9 chains. The automatic...

  • Comparing Thule CS-10 and CB12 Tire Chains for a 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon with 225/60-17 Tires
I think the law trumps the owners manual but you might want to check with Subaru just to be sure. This is the old tire chain paradox in action: manual says no, law says yes. That is it in a nutshell. The Thule CS-10 chains are associated with passenger cars so I would look at them for your 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon. For the 225/60-17 tires you would use # TH2004125104 that you referenced. The CB12 chains # TH01221104 will fit but offer no rim protection or quick release features and...

For a more economically priced...

  • What Tires Do Chains Need to Be Installed On For a 2016 Honda Accord
According to the owner's manual for your 2016 Honda Accord, only the use of tire cables are permitted and they must be installed on the front two wheels. If you do not already have a set of cables then I recommend checking out the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains part # TC339DC if you have 235/45-18 tires or part # TC335DC if you have 205/65-16 or 215/55-17 tires. The Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains part # TH01221104 that you referenced should not be used because they do...

  • Using Tire Chains on a 2008 Nissan Maxima
According to the owner's manual for your vehicle, Nissan doesn't recommend using tire chains on Maxima models equipped with 245/45-18 tires. If your vehicle uses that size, in order to use chains, Nissan recommends swapping your wheel/tire size to 225/55-17. If you swap to those size wheels/tires, I'd recommend the Konig # TH00023103. Some vehicle manufacturers will endorse the usage of Class S rated chains when they're worried about clearance between the inside of the tires and braking/suspension...
