We ordered these tensioners with a set of Pewag square link, mud service heavy duty chains appropriately sized for our 315/75R16 tires. Those tires have a tall sidewall and so I opted for the tensioners listed for 16 to 20" wheels. However, with those chains and tall sidewalls of our tires, these tensioners lack sufficient reach to get more than three hooks attached to the chains (photo). If you're planning on using these tensioners on a tire with a tall sidewall and a chain that doesn't extend down the sidewall very far (as ours), I recommend mounting the chains and then measuring the diameter of the circle inside the side chains. Call Etrailer with that measurement and see if they can set you up with a tensioner that will fit. Our ordering experience with Etrailer was great - prompt shipping and compassionate customer service when I explained the problem mentioned above.

I give 5 stars but haven’t used them yet..I live in San Tan Valley AZ and no snow but I will hunt in the mountains and will have the security of having chains and adjusters.

I received my order quickly and will be teaching myself how to install these snow tire chains this evening when I get home. These are the same snow tire chains selling in our area but for a much better price. We are taking a trip up to the mountains this weekend and our area mountains have received hundreds of inches of snow. I wouldn't think of heading up without high quality chains for our car. Thanks so much for the fantastic turn around time I would definitely purchase items from this retailer in the future! Thank you etrailer!

Comments
Well, I believe they are still sitting in my garage. We took a trip to the snow last year and the highway required chains. At the last minute we decided to take my husbands truck rather than my passenger vehicle, so we never did have to use them. Hopefully someday, someone will need them and we will be able to use them :- I appreciate the follow up. I remember everything being great with this purchase and I would purchase from you again in the future.

Ordered chains from Mesa, AZ by phone, on Friday. Requested delivery to address in Moab, UT by the next Friday. They arrived early on Wednesday. Chairs were intended for compliance with Colorado State chain laws. They were not required or used on I-70 on trip to Denver despite snow & ice storm and heavy traffic while crossing the mountains. Traffic was moving way too fast, and travel distances too great, to make speed limiting chains practical. Back in St. Louis now, but not sure I will ever need them here. I guess I'll keep them just in case we have a hard winter. I may need to find a big parking lot for my first experience using chains. Can't wait.

Comments
I have not had the chance to mount the chains and use them. They sit in my car trunk adding weight for better traction on dry roads. If they have function and purpose it could be to keep snow and ice away from St. Louis. I may need to take another winter road trip through the Rockies just to see if these chains really work.

Simple to attach. Keeps chains centered on wheel, reduces noise, and protects body and brake components from damage caused by slack chains. There isn't a lot of excitement when it comes to tire chains and adjusters unless it is when you need them and you don't have them, or you have them and they don't fit, or you have them and they don't work. With etrailer I managed to miss ALL the excitement! As always I received excellent sales and shipping service to get me the correct chains and adjusters in time for an unscheduled trip, they fit to a "T", and provided excellent traction with no sidewall wear or impact with body or brake components. I always marvel at finding the best service for truck and trailer equipment half way across the country rather than in my own backyard.

Put these on over the weekend fit purfect .Have a road trip coming up hope we don't need them but we have if we do need them.

- PW99
by:

Estimated ship time from eTrailer was inaccurate since the product turned out not to be in stock; had to wait an additional week before delivery. However the chains did fit my 2015 RAM 2500 Power Wagon with stock tires (Duratrac 285/70-17) and wheels. The rear left parking brake cable is VERY close (~1/2 inch) from the chain, so I had to use a zip tie to keep the extra links from slapping against the cable. There was plenty of clearance up front and on the rear right. Glacier rubber adjusters (PW99) are necessary to remove chain slack.

- PW99
by:

Chain adjusters work really well. They install easily and keep the chains tight. Made of strong materials and will last a long time. I would purchase them gain.

Thanks for being my go to for hitches and spare tires so far. And thank-you for coordinating with UPS so that I could pick up from their facility as I had already moved out of base housing.

- PW99
by:

While these will get the job done and are reasonably priced, they start off extremely taut and difficult to pull into place on an 18” truck wheel.

- PW99
by:

Ok so I purchased these along with my V-Bar chains. It states it will fit 16"-20" wheels. When I tried to install them on my chains, they were to small. My 2013 Tacoma TRD 4x4 has 16" wheels with BFG 275/70R16 all-terrain tires. They are really good quality, but just to small. I guess its my fault, I should have done my homework prior to purchasing these. Looks like I am gonna have to head to Wally World for some bungie straps.

- PW99
by:

I bought these to use on tire cables/chains for winter. I have installed them to dry fit them on the tire cables/chains. If I lived somewhere that you had to use them a lot I would step up and buy a different style. In my case these will work great.

Ordered tire chains and these tightening cables for our new car and our annual round trip between Washington and California. Hope we never have to use them, but i was very pleased with the order process. I entered the make and model of the car and it was as simple as that. I feel confident these will fit the car when we have to use them. The order process was smooth and the company even upgraded us to quicker shipping at no extra cost. The chains were well packaged and arrived in good time. The customer service and contacts were all excellent. I will recommend them to anyone who needs this type product.

- PW99
by:

These chains deserve zero stars because they're a complete waste of money. I was never able to attach them to the tire & that was with the wheel off of the car. Imagine trying to install them in a snowstorm with the wheels on the car. I threw them in the garbage as I was past the refund period.

Bought these to use with the Glacier alloy square-link snow tire chain on my 2014 Mazda CX-5. These worked great to provide the extra tension and were easy to install.

Much too small for a Tahoe with 18" wheels and Glacier Cable Chains (PW2028C). Package says for Light Trucks, but then adds - "fits all passenger & minivan". That sounds right.

  • Do Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains Fit 245/55-19 Tires
Cables instead of chains are a good idea if you don't plan on using them often, or have them "just in case" because they are a more economical option, and I can confirm for you that the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW2029C you asked about do fit your 245/55-19 tires. Tensioners will give you a nice tight fit, and for an economical option that will work I recommend the Glacier Rubber Adjusters # PW99. I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the...

We have a few different adjusters that have six attach points. These are designed for different size tires. for tire rims that are 14 to 24 iinches diameter I recommend part # TCMA2. For 15 to 18 inch diameter I recommend part # PW105, and for 19-1/2 to 24-1/2 inch diameter rims I recommend part # PW103. And for rims that are 13 to 20-inches diameter you can use part # TCMA1.

  • Tire Chains for a 2009 Mazda 5 with Cinturato P7 205/50R17 Tires
For tire chains a lot depends on what type of conditions you will be driving in and how often you need to use the chains. If you just want to have some chains in the vehicle and will rarely use them then going with cable style chains, # PW1034, with rubber adjuster # PW99 would work just fine. These chains are not going to offer the best traction or last the longest but will do in a pinch. All of these chains are Class S rated meaning they need the least amount of clearance. Vehicles...

For 205/60-16 sized tires on your 2015 Mazda 3 I suggest using the # PW99. You're in that mid range where both are listed as a fit but you'd rather not have to stretch them too tight. The tire chains # PW1034 are a great choice for your car since you won't have a lot of internal clearance. You should check your owner's manual for restrictions on installing and using tire chains as well.
