Greasing bearings doesn’t have to mean tearing everything apart. This Dexter idler hub is built for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube axles with #84 spindles and includes a grease cap designed for easy access to the zerk fitting on your spindle. Just remove the rubber plug, attach your grease gun, and the grease flows to both the inner (L68149) and outer (L44649) bearings. It keeps the bearings protected from corrosion and saves time every season.
Skip the parts chase. This hub assembly comes complete with bearings, races, a 58846 grease seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. The inner race (L68111) and outer race (L44610) are already in place, so setup is straightforward. With a weight capacity of 1,750 lbs per hub, it’s built for steady use without needing extra hardware runs.
Matching wheels is simple thanks to Dexter’s exact specs. The hub fits 13" to 15" wheels with a 5 on 4-3/4" bolt pattern and 1/2" wheel bolts. The grease cap flange measures 1.986" outer diameter, and the wheel center hole needs at least a 2.6" opening to fit cleanly over the hub face.
This hub isn’t delicate—it’s made from solid iron that stands up to repeated trips and long hauls. Whether it’s rolling under a small utility setup or kept as a spare for peace of mind on the road, it’s a dependable piece built for long-term performance.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

That buggy looks like it would be a lot of fun to ride in! I'm so glad that we had some hubs that would work on the spindle, sometimes old spindles are too short and the hubs wont fit right, but these were a perfect fit. Thanks for sharing all the pictures, David. I loved looking at them all.
