This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
This tire has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Westlake ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire, in a load range G, and it's mounted on this 16-inch, glossy black Eagle aluminum wheel, with an 8 on 6 1/2-inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel that the tire's mounted on is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust proof. And we mentioned it is the Eagle Series, which you can see is a split 8-spoke design with a glossy black finish.
And if you look on the edge of the spokes, it has a nice machined face on the edge of the spokes to give a nice shine to the wheel. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to help protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. One of the nice features I like on this wheel is right here in the lug-nut wells, they use steel inserts, and that's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Those steel inserts prevent the holes from elongating and wearing down, so it eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts. A few specs on the wheel, its diameter, 16 inches.
The width on just the wheel is seven inches wide. This wheel does have a bolt pattern of 8 on 6 1/2 inches. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, that's an even number of lugs, in this case, eight. It's pretty easy because the lug holes, if you look, they'll go directly across from each other. So all you have to do is pick either hole, let's say this one, measure from the center of the hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it.
So this wheel, it'll measure 6 1/2 inches. So it's an eight lug, 6 1/2-inch bolt pattern. This does use a wheel lug size of either a 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18. The weight capacity on just the wheel is 4,080 pounds. Now if you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap.
If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole right here, 'cause when you install your cap, it will go through this hole. This pilot hole diameter is 4.9 inches. Now the tire that's mounted on this wheel is a Westlake radial tire, so it is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon ply. They do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it is great for highway use. This is also an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, so it has this sturdy sidewall so they can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, not intended for use on other vehicles. And the tire size, which is stamped on the sidewall, ST, for special trailer, 235/85R16, the R means that it is a radial tire. Section width, 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 31.7. And we mentioned this is a load range G tire, which means it's a 14-ply rated tire. So it does have a maximum load capacity of 4,410 pounds at 110 PSI. This assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications. And this tire does come with a speed rating, and they do stamp it on the sidewall of the tire, and it's in a letter designation. And where you'll usually find it is, right after the size, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then there's a letter L that's stamped on there. Speed rating L will mean it's 75 mile per hour speed rating. Now they do offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years, and flat tire service is available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. But that'll do it on the look of this Westlake ST235/85R16 radial trailer tire, in a load range G, mounted on this 16-inch, glossy black Eagle aluminum wheel, with the 8 on 6 1/2-inch bolt pattern.
