Boat ramps and winter roads can chew through standard brake parts fast. These 12" x 2" marine-grade assemblies use galvanized backing plates, stainless steel springs, and a zinc-plated wheel cylinder to hold up against rust and corrosion. They’re made to keep working smoothly even after repeated dunkings or exposure to heavy road salt.
When you’re towing heavy or making frequent stops, you want brakes that bite consistently without fading. The semi-metallic pads on these Demco hydraulic drum brakes are strong and long-lasting, producing less dust than organic pads. Each pad is riveted to the shoe for a secure hold that resists crumbling or warping over time, so braking stays predictable mile after mile.
As shoes wear down, stopping distances can creep up. These brakes include adjuster plugs that let you fine-tune the star gear easily while keeping dirt and grime out of the assembly. A quick manual adjustment brings the shoes back into spec so your trailer keeps braking evenly every time you hit the pedal.
Each kit includes left-hand (driver’s-side) and right-hand (passenger’s-side) assemblies that fit most standard 12" x 2" hub-and-drum setups with a 5-bolt mounting flange. They work with 14-1/2", 15", or 16" wheels on axles rated up to 7,000 lbs, making them an easy bolt-on replacement when your old drums are worn or corroded.

It has been a full year and many miles of trailering my boat and the brakes still work great. I have manually tightened them twice so I know they are taking wear and tear of of my truck brakes.

According to Demco, as long as youre not exceeding the capacity of the brake assemblies, youll be just fine. No worries until you use them on a trailer heavier than their rating.
