Driver's-side and passenger's-side hydraulic drum brakes feature a single-plunger design. Automotive-grade friction pads and e-coated backing plates are long-lasting. Fit 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2" wheels.

  • Hydraulic drum brake assemblies are designed for use with a surge-type trailer brake actuator
  • Automotive-grade friction material is molded to brake shoes
    • Pads are fully bonded - not riveted - to shoes for long life and more braking torque
    • Less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to mechanical lockup, thanks to tapered edge and circular grinding
  • Periodic manual adjustment required
    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gears allow for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plates resist wear and corrosion
  • Single plunger design
  • Adjuster plugs (included) cover access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assemblies and off of the shoes
  • Left-hand (driver's-side) brake assembly and right-hand (passenger's-side) brake assembly included
    • Mounting bolts and hardware (BRKH12) sold separately
  • QAI and CSA certified

  • Application: most standard hub-and-drum assemblies, including Dexter, Lippert (LCI), and AL-KO
  • Dimensions: 12" diameter x 2" wide
  • Mounting flange bolt pattern: 5 bolt
  • Wheel size: 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2"

  • Limited 1-year warranty

These trailer brake assemblies act as part of your trailer's hydraulic braking system. A hydraulic trailer brake actuator is required for these brakes to function.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

These brake assemblies meet the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. These brake assemblies underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. These brakes have also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on these brake assemblies is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Parts arrived on the date scheduled, the shipper for some reason couldn't find an address that they had delivered to before, this was not any fault of etrailer.com. All parts fit exactly as they should have and now hopefully I will not have to fix someone else's neglect again, as shown in some of my pics. But if I do I will use etrailer.com. Big thanks to Shawn for help above and beyond.

they fit as they should. easy install .Had to replace all brake lines so replacing every thing made it easy and not to expansive.

Exact parts I needed to get my trailer on the road. Thank you for your help!

The brake plates came fast and was the exact match to what I had.

  • What Hubs/Drums Are Needed With the 12 Inch Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit AKUBRK-7
The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit part # AKUBRK-7 does not come with the hub/drum nor do any of our braking assemblies. If you will need this as well then I would need to know your axle capacity and bolt pattern. If you have a 5,200 lb axle with 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern then most likely you will need the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. There should be an axle tag on the center of the axle which I could then use to confirm the above.

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Hydraulic Brakes for a ShoreLandr Boat Trailer
In order to confirm the correct replacement braking assemblies for a trailer you'll need to find the axle capacity. The axle capacity can be found on the axle tag in the center of the beam. The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit part # AKUBRK-7 is designed for 5,200 lb - 7,000 lb axles. The other common axle capacity is 3,500 lbs and in which case you'd need the part # AKFBBRK-35.

  • Comparing the Dexter Duo-Servo Brake Kit with the etrailer Uni-Servo Brake Kit
The Dexter Hydraulic Drum Brake Kit # 23-336-337 that you mentioned are Duo-Servo brakes meaning they deliver the same amount of braking whether you are driving either forward or in reverse. The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-7 that you referenced are Uni-Servo brakes which means that they will still apply braking when going in reverse, just not as much (about 20% total power) as the Duo-Servo brakes. Unless you plan on doing a lot of backing up with your trailer and you need...

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies for a 7K Trailer with 12 x 3 inch Brake Assemblies
If you are just wanting to get new brake assemblies you could use part # AKEBRK-7-SA for 12 x 2 assemblies for electric brakes or part # AKUBRK-7 for hydraulic brakes. These measure 12 x 2 inches so they will fit in the hubs you have now, plus they are rated for up to 7,000 lbs axles like that you have. They also fit a brake mounting flange that has a 5 bolt pattern. Although this will work, I recommend going ahead and replacing your drums as well so that you have an entirely new system...

  • Replacement 12 Inch Brake Assemblies Compatible with Old Warner Trailer Hub/Drums
You can absolutely use the Dexter 12 inch brake assemblies. If you have electric brakes then the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # 23-458-459 with your current hubs. You may also want the new mounting hardware # BRKH12. For a more economic option that will work just as well, you may want to consider the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # AKEBRK-7-SA. If you have hydraulic brakes,...

  • Can Electric Brakes Be Added To a M1162A Military Trailer
I do have an option for you but we do not offer any hubs compatible with this bearing combo. Therefore, the best option without replacing the axle would be to simply replace the braking assemblies. The best way to find the correct braking assemblies would be to measure the inside of the drum where the shoes ride. The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit part # AKFBBRK-35 for example measures 10" diameter x 2-1/4" wide or part # AKUBRK-7 which measures 12" diameter x 2" wide. I have attached...

  • Parts to Convert Electric Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
Converting from electric brakes to electric over hydraulic brakes will give you the most effective braking setup available. You are going to need a number of different parts, and the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA-10-252-82 will give you an electric-hydraulic brake actuator, a brake line kit, and breakaway kit. Because you have a triple axle trailer, you are going to need an additional hydraulic line kit # 9579-01. If you are interested in a new brake controller, the...

  • Brake Assembly Recommendation for Dexter Axles Rated for 5,000 lbs
Dexter SLR does not indicate the weight capacity of the axle, but if you have 5.2k rated Dexter axles the assembly part # AKUBRK-7L would be the correct left hand brake assembly. Or if you need both sides you'd want the part # AKUBRK-7 which includes a left hand and a right hand side. These fit the standard Dexter style brake mounting flanges found on 5.2 to 7k rated axles that have a 5 bolt mounting pattern.
