These trailer brake assemblies act as part of your trailer's hydraulic braking system. A hydraulic trailer brake actuator is required for these brakes to function.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

These brake assemblies meet the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. These brake assemblies underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. These brakes have also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on these brake assemblies is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

The brake assembly arrived quickly and was correct fit. The best thing about dealing with e-trailer was the associates knowledge. I will shop them first next time.

by:

Parts arrived on the date scheduled, the shipper for some reason couldn't find an address that they had delivered to before, this was not any fault of etrailer.com.
All parts fit exactly as they should have and now hopefully I will not have to fix someone else's neglect again, as shown in some of my pics. But if I do I will use etrailer.com.
Big thanks to Shawn for help above and beyond.

by:

Amazing value. Super fast delivery. Replaces the original AL KO for a fraction of the cost. I understand why so many folks recommended Etrailer to check with and order from.

by:

by:

Good product and good price. It's nice for weekend work that you are open for orders on Sunday. Thanks

by:

Haven't tested yet but look great.

by:

by:

Great customer service and great product. Now we will see about installing

by:

I have been using for more than 5 years, with proper use and maintenance, they work very well and last a long time

by:

Easy to use, fast delivery and good pri cing.

by:

Delivered a day early, exact fit, good deal

by:

Items are of good quality and easy to install. I had to make a small adjustment on the 5 mounting holes on the backing plate to 7/16" in order to use the original bolts since no hardware is supplied with the kit. The best was that all other parts were already assembled and factory set which made installation fast and easy. Also, by using the kit the cost of the job was less expensive then replacing all of the individual parts. This was a win win-win for me. Thank you etrailer.

by:

The brake plates came fast and was the exact match to what I had.

by:

Great product,good price,fast shipping

by:

The parts are identical

by:

I was able to use all of the parts except the backing plates because they didnot have the correct hole pattern for my axles.

by:

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly for 2006 Karavan Trailer
You already did all of the work here by finding the bearings. Since you have a # 25580 inner and # 15123 outer bearing the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 6K Axles # AKHD-655-6-G-EZ-K will work as a replacement. The only other thing to match up is the bolt pattern and this has the same 6 on 5-1/2 you currently have. If you want replacement brakes as well you can use the # AKUBRK-7. If you don't have a lockout and need free backing brakes then we also have the # AKFBBRK-7.

  • Replacement 12" Brakes for Fayette Dayton 9254 W-5 Axle
To replace your 12" brakes I recommend checking out the 7K TruRyde Electric Trailer Brake Kit # TRU96FR or the 5.2K - 7K Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-7 depending on what kind of braking system you have. You'll also need the Mounting Hardware Kit # BRKH12 to complete your installation. According to my research the Fayette Dayton axles are older and some obsolete so I also recommend comparing the brake mounting flange bolt pattern in the attached photo for our brake assemblies to...

  • Parts to Convert Electric Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
Converting from electric brakes to electric over hydraulic brakes will give you the most effective braking setup available. You are going to need a number of different parts, and the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA-10-252-82 will give you an electric-hydraulic brake actuator, a brake line kit, and breakaway kit. • Comparing the Dexter Duo-Servo Brake Kit with the etrailer Uni-Servo Brake Kit
The Dexter Hydraulic Drum Brake Kit # 23-336-337 that you mentioned are Duo-Servo brakes meaning they deliver the same amount of braking whether you are driving either forward or in reverse. The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-7 that you referenced are Uni-Servo brakes which means that they will still apply braking when going in reverse, just not as much (about 20% total power) as the Duo-Servo brakes. Unless you plan on doing a lot of backing up with your trailer and you need that...

You may also want the new mounting hardware # BRKH12. • Brake Assembly Recommendation for Dexter Axles Rated for 5,000 lbs
Dexter SLR does not indicate the weight capacity of the axle, but if you have 5.2k rated Dexter axles the assembly part # AKUBRK-7L would be the correct left hand brake assembly. Or if you need both sides you'd want the part # AKUBRK-7 which includes a left hand and a right hand side. These fit the standard Dexter style brake mounting flanges found on 5.2 to 7k rated axles that have a 5 bolt mounting pattern.

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Hydraulic Brakes for a ShoreLandr Boat Trailer
In order to confirm the correct replacement braking assemblies for a trailer you'll need to find the axle capacity. The axle capacity can be found on the axle tag in the center of the beam. The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit part # AKUBRK-7 is designed for 5,200 lb - 7,000 lb axles. The other common axle capacity is 3,500 lbs and in which case you'd need the part # AKFBBRK-35.

  • How to Measure for Correct Axle Replacement
To replace your axle you'll want to measure your hub-face (A) and spring-seat (B) dimensions of your current axle (see attached) and choose one with the same measurements. You also want to make sure the weight ratings match up as well. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 7461121 has 95" hub-face and 80" spring-center measurements. This axle doesn't come with brakes or a hub so you'll either need to transfer ones from your current axle or you would need the...

  • What Hubs/Drums Are Needed With the 12 Inch Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit AKUBRK-7
The Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit part # AKUBRK-7 does not come with the hub/drum nor do any of our braking assemblies. If you will need this as well then I would need to know your axle capacity and bolt pattern. If you have a 5,200 lb axle with 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern then most likely you will need the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K. There should be an axle tag on the center of the axle which I could then use to confirm the above.

With Hydraulic brakes I recommend replacing the entire assembly to reduce the risk of the wheel cylinders failing down the road. These measure 12 x 2 inches so they will fit in the hubs you have now, plus they are rated for up to 7,000 lbs axles like that you have.
