Features to know about

Smooth and Steady on the Road: 6,000 lb Dexter Axle Handles the Load

When you’re carrying serious weight, you need an axle that tracks straight and stays steady. This Dexter trailer axle beam is rated for 6,000 lbs and built from high-strength steel for dependable support mile after mile. The 3" diameter tubing with a .16" wall thickness gives it the backbone to handle heavy loads without flexing, while the bend in the beam creates a proper camber angle so your tires wear evenly and maintain full tread contact on the road.

Easy Maintenance You’ll Actually Keep Up With: E-Z Lube Spindles Keep Bearings Fresh

Keeping bearings greased is simple with Dexter’s E-Z Lube spindles. Each spindle has a built-in grease zerk so you can inject new lubricant without taking anything apart. Grease flows through the spindle to both the inner and outer bearings, flushing out old grease and keeping things running smooth. It’s quick, clean, and keeps downtime to a minimum.

Low, Stable Ride for Easier Loading: Underslung Design with Welded Spring Seats

This axle’s underslung design has the spring seats welded to the underside of the beam, lowering the trailer deck for easier loading and better stability. The spring seats are welded at 80" centers, ready for standard leaf spring suspension setups. When paired with the 95" hub-face length, it gives your trailer a balanced stance that’s easy to handle on the road and predictable when backing up.

Strong Foundation You Can Build On: Straight Spindle, 5-Bolt Brake Flanges, and Welded Construction

Everything you need for a solid suspension setup is already built in. The axle includes straight, no-drop spindles that accept inner bearing 25580 and outer bearing 15123 (sold separately). Brake flanges are pre-welded in a 5-bolt configuration, ready for compatible brake assemblies. With welded spindles and spring seats, it’s a durable, ready-to-install foundation that simplifies fabrication or replacement projects.

This axle and spindle assembly are high quality. Identical to the Dexter axle and spindle ass. that were on the trailer originally. A Big Tex S35 6' x 10' trailer that is 30+ years old.

Axle been on a car trailer seen lot of miles and several states , no problem at all

by:

Product was great. However, there was insufficient protection at the axle ends and it looked like the axles were dragged and fully exposed the spindles. One spindle lock nut was lost and one brake flange stud was also missing.

by:

Has been used on a trailer to haul a cat 279 skid loader. So far I haven't had any problems and it seems to be a good buy.

  • What Makes 5200lb and 6000lb Dexter Axles Different Capacity?
The thickness of the tube is not any different as they are both 3 inch diameter, and the spindles are also the same utilizing the same inner diameter bearings, hubs, and seals. The difference in capacity is in the custom bend in the axle that creates the zero camber angle for even road to tread contact. To the naked eye there is no difference between the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 6,000 lbs # 7461121 and the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles...

  • Is Dexter 6k Axle Compatible With Kodiak Disc Brakes For 7k Axle
Hey John! Yes, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam # 7461121 is compatible with the Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD95FR. These brakes fit the 5-bolt brake flange found on this axle, and the bearings have the same inner diameter (ID) making them compatible with the spindle. The Kodiak also comes with a 2.25" ID grease seal which is the same size used on the axle so everything lines up perfectly. What kind of trailer are you working on?

  • AL/KO 5200 lb Axle Replacement
We offer some Dexter axles that might be a good replacement. You'll need to measure the hub face to hub face and spring seat to spring seat dimension of your current axle to see if what we offer is compatible. I've provided a diagram showing how to take that measurement. All the axles I'm showing you use spindles compatible with 25580 inner/LM67048 outer wheel bearings. For a 95 inch hub face and 80 inch spring center, use # 6340624-EB which includes hub/drums with 6 lug on a 5-1/2 inch...

  • Differences Between 3" Dexter Axle D44, D52, and D60 Axles
Yes, the different Dexter Axle numbers correlate to various axle dimensions and setups. You always want to match the specs from your new axle to that of your old axle to make sure everything matches, lines up, and is able to handle the amount of weight you'll have in your trailer. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 7461121 is rated for 6K lbs, has a hub face of 95" and a spring center of 80", and comes with spindles that use inner bearing # 25580 and outer...

  • Can a Lippert Axle be Replaced with a Dexter Axle?
We do have a straight Dexter axle that is very close to your Lippert one. The # 7461121 will be 95 inches from hub face to hub face and 80 inches from center of one spring seat to the center of the other. The branding of the axle typically doesn't make a difference as long as the measurements match or are very very close.

Thanks for all of the dimension on your axle! I recommend going with the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 95" - 6,000 lbs # 7461121-EB which has the 6000lb rating you need, and has a hub face to hub face measurement of 95", spring center to spring center measurement of 80", and a 3" diameter to match your current axle perfectly. The # 7461121-EB already includes new braking assemblies and hub and drum assemblies to replace your current ones...

  • Mobile Home Trailer Axle Replacement Parts
With that bearing and hub information provided, we can narrow down the axle size to either 5,200 or 6,000lbs. From here if you measure the inner diameter of the grease seal, you may be able to narrow it down more. If you get 2.125 inches you likely have 5,200lb axles but if you measure 2.25 inches, then they're probably 6,000lb axles. We don't carry hubs that match those bearings with a 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern so these measurements may not add up. This happens often with mobile home...

When you go from 3,500lb axles to 5K or 6K axles you're going to need to replace the brakes and wheels as well to the appropriate capacities. We carry the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 6,000lbs # 7461121 which would match your 95" hub face and 80" spring center, but will require new hubs, drums, and wheels. For the hub and drum assemblies I recommend the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-9UC3-EZ....

  • Repair Sleeve for 6K Trailer Spindle
We don't offer a replacement sleeve, nor would I recommend using one, as a significant portion of the trailer weight bill be sitting on that bearing surface which isn't the case for the area of the spindle where the grease seal rides which isn't weight bearing. This leaves you a couple of options. You could replace the axle as you mentioned. • How Much Weight Can 5,200 Pound Trailer Axles Hold
The percent of the rating you can use for your 5,200 lb axle is 100%. The axles on your tandem axle trailer are designed to hold 5,200 lbs each or 10,400 lbs total. As long as you are not exceeding this amount there is no reason to increase axle capacity with the # 7461121. Also, other components on your trailer, and more than likely the trailer frame, are rated for the same. Even with a higher axle capacity you will be limited by the weakest component. I recommend going with the 95" long axle # 7461121. This will only add an inch to each side and will be the closest part we have for your application, though the spring seats will need to be altered to get it fitting properly. This axle is underslung but you can make it overslung with # K71-385-00 which moves your trailer's leaf springs to the top of your axle. The axle has a 3 inch diameter.
