Features to know about

Confident Handling on Snowy or Icy Roads: Diagonal Roller Links Keep You Steady

When the road gets slick, these Titan Chain cable tire chains give you dependable traction and smoother handling than standard ladder-style cables. The diagonal pattern keeps more cable in contact with the ground for steady grip through turns and faster stops on icy pavement. They’re built for light snow and on-road use, so you can drive with confidence when the weather turns.

A Smarter Choice for Low-Clearance Setups: SAE Class S Compatible

If your car doesn’t have much space around the tires, these cables are a great fit. They meet SAE Class S clearance standards, which means they work safely on vehicles with limited wheel-well room. You won’t have to worry about bulky chains rubbing or catching where there’s not much clearance.

Quick, Reliable Fit Every Time: Manual Tensioning with Included Rubber Adjusters

Getting the right tension matters for performance and safety. This set includes custom rubber tensioners made for these cables, so you can tighten them evenly in a star pattern once they’re mounted. The result is a secure, centered fit that stays snug as you drive, without constant stopping to retighten.

Step 1 of Titan Chain cable tire chain installation showing the cables laid flat on the ground to check for twists or kinks.

Step 2 of Titan Chain cable tire chain installation showing the rear cable being connected behind the tire.

Step 3 of Titan Chain cable tire chain installation showing the front cable being threaded through the eye hook at the top and bottom of the tire.

Step 4 of Titan Chain cable tire chain installation showing rubber tensioners attached in a star pattern across the tire.

Lightweight and Easy to Stash: Compact Cable Design with Carry Bag

These cable chains don’t take up much space, making them easy to keep in your trunk for winter trips or chain-required routes. The low-profile rollers wrap around the cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links, and the whole set packs neatly into the included nylon bag.

Durable Build for Repeated Winter Use: Alloy Steel Construction

Each cable is made from strong alloy steel that stands up to road wear and resists corrosion. The hardened rollers help the cables glide smoothly over snow and ice while maintaining their shape season after season. You get lasting strength without extra weight or bulk.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S clearance diagram showing required measurements for tire chain fitment, labeled A for tread-to-wheel-well clearance and B for sidewall-to-vehicle clearance.

  • A: a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B: at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

by:

Haven't used tire cables yet … but … did install one to check the fit and look. And the thing fit perfectly on my 2019 F150 with 245/70r17 tires. Even look pretty good too! I especially like that the cables can be put on as the truck sets - no need to lay them out and back over them. And the carrying bag is nice - keeps everything together and able to be stored under a seat, in the bed, or wherever. I thought about getting chains with v-bars … but didn't think I needed anything that aggressive - so the tire cables ought to do just fine in deeper snow, packed snow and maybe even on ice.

by:

Looks to be of decent quality. I like the carry bag they come in which is a nice touch. Have not used them yet or put them on my car, so can’t give a full honest review at this time.

by:

Shipping was quick, installation fiddly but doable. Customer service was excellent. Removal is a pain as things wont line up as neatly, but with some practice isn't bad. I got to use the chains in anger this winter and performance was great, I got into and out of places that would have been impassible otherwise, even with true 4x4 and good tires. Recommended for the price point and for occasional use.

I received them in two days and they look great so far so good....

by:

I haven’t tried the chains on yet but they look great and came on the day promised. Completely satisfied

by:

Easy to apply. No problems yet.

by:

Hello, when I first started to install the chains (cables), I thought they might be too small...But with much grunting and groaning I managed to get them on. Nice product and the fit is perfect.

by:

The set of Cable Chains I bought were clearly used or returns.
The spider tighteners had use marks on them and the cables themselves had clearly been tried out, or on, and just thrown into the carry bag with the twisty-ties thrown in the bottom.
Bummed me out some, but I didn’t have time to complain at the time as I got them just in time to drive back up to Alaska.
When I got back to Alaska I sent off a review.
Y’all can do better. I believed I’d bought something new, not a retread.

nice cable chains in a compact nylon bag. thanks

by:

Ordering the tire cables was very easy. The order came exceptionally quick. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m sure they will go on pretty easily.

by:

Everything is exactly as described with prompt shipping.

by:

We purchased these in 2023 and they worked perfectly for our snow trip to flagstaff. The customer service we received was amazing as well. Thank you.

by:

Fast and free shipping. Reasonable prices. Doesn’t snow too often in the Portland area but nice to have just in case.

by:

Site is easy to use, ordering great, shipping fast (about one week) with a follow-up e-mail. Have not used the chains yet, however. So I cannot rate them at this time.

by:

Easy on, easy on, seem like a great product. Haven’t tested them on the road, but they seem durable and would have plenty of bite. And as always, the installation video and customer service from etrailer was spectacular.

by:

Tire chains are relatively easy to use, so you may not need instructions. Which is good as none whatsoever are included. Nor information re any warranty, if there is one. Neither does the link-to-pdf on etrailer's website help- it merely informs you that no information is available.

The chains seem to be complete and of good quality, and a size listing is on the outside of the included bag.

by:

The Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains fit my OEM tires as specifiied on eTrailer's web site. I called customer service today because my OEM tire size & the -1 tire size I plan to use for winter tires wasn't specified on the Titan Chain storage bag. About forty tire sizes were listed on the bag, so I called to be sure of the fitment for my tire sizes. The lady checked with their Titan liaison and said he assured her the chains would fit my tires; he told her that there wasn't enough room on the bag to list on the tire sizes the cable chains would fit. I later checked the fit of the cable chains on my OEM tires and they fit OK; the hardest part of mounting them was stretching the rubber tensioners. The construction of both the cable chains and carrying bag seem fine. We're having a relatively dry winter so far at Lake Tahoe, so I may not need to use them this season. If I do use them I'll update my review; four stars is as high as I'm comfortable with until I actually use them on snow or ice.

by:

I appreciate the help customer service provided and the fast shipping but the product was a bad fit for my '17 vw gti, these cables/chains are too big for my 225 40 18 tires. Luckily I didn't need chains for my trip to lake Tahoe.

by:

I ordered these cable chains for my 2017 Subaru Forester after a poor experience with another national retailer. After ordering with etrailer, shipping was upgraded and the chains arrived in time for me to check out before heading into the mountains for some back country skiing. I haven't had to use these in adverse conditions; however, I know that if I need chains that I'm covered. Well done, etrailer.

by:

Chains arrived just a few days late due to supply issues but one day prior to a Seattle snowstorm! The advice I received from etrailer was invaluable. I will be purchasing a trailer hitch for my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek next year. Way to go etrailer!

by:

The chains I ordered were out of stock but I appreciated that the website had an expected arrival date for when they were back in stock. The videos on the product page were a great addition and was the main reason why I bought from etrailer. The chains themselves arrived neatly bundled in the carrying case. During my practice install, I made the mistake of not carefully looking at the directions and struggled with putting them on but once I actually read the directions, installation was a breeze. I haven't tried them in the snow yet but I mainly bought them because where I am going requires vehicles to carry chains in the winter.

Turned my 2004 Mustang with aftermarket wheels and tires into a snow tank! Easy installation on 285/35/18 rear tires (bald Summer Street racing tires) and these tire cables will take me anywhere I want in the Montana winter!

I haven’t had to use my chains yet this winter, but after having them last year and saving me multiple times, I love the peice of mind these chains give me! DO NOT DRIVE OVER 30-45 with bad road conditions in your mustang. Keep it between 25-35 and you can get ANYWHERE with these chains. Luckily my daily commute is 2 miles each way, but they work very well. I noticed they rusted quickly but it just seemed like a surface rust. Using a towel to dry off isn’t enough, you must bring them inside to dry by the fire or they will rust in your trunk. The plastic clip felt cheap, but hasn’t broke yet. I wish they included metal clips but tese plastic ones work well. Rubber felt of good quality, and same with the chains! For about $50 I highly recommend this to every RWD car driver that must drive in snow.

  • Recommended S-Class Spring Cable Tire Chains for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
The online edition of the manual for the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek indicates on page 8-11 that low-profile S-Class spring chains can be used on the front tires only. Since a given tire chain is made to fit only certain specific tire sizes you will also want to check the sidewall of your tires to find their size designation, such as P225/60R17 and P225/55R18. I linked two pages showing our range of S-Class chains for both of these two tire sizes that can come on the Crosstrek. For the P225/60R17...

The owner's manual as you stated recommends against using tire chains but does suggest alternative options which is where the snow socks come into play. Before you select a set of tire chains you will need to review the owner's manual for your 2016 Volkswagen Golf. From my research, tire chains can be used on the vehicle if they are installed only on the front two wheels and are less than 15 mm thick. With that being said the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains are only 12 mm thick therefore will work well for you. However, for the 235/40-18 tires you will want to use part # TH01221100 (Size 100) and for the 225/40-18 tires you will want to...

If you're needing to use actual chains then I have a few options that are Class S compatible and will fit the 225/60R17 tires on your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek.
