Now, the reason you're gonna want a roof rack for you Cherokee is that it will allow you to bring a lot more of your gear and cargo with you, be it from bike racks to cargo boxes, to water sports carriers, it doesn't matter, anything that they make that can go on a roof rack will fit on this. Now, one thing that I really love about this is that it's already preassembled and ready to go out of the box. We don't have to worry about getting any special adapters to go over our factory-raised rails or have to worry about assembling anything, no special feat, kit, or anything like that. We just throw it on top of the roof, make a few measurements, and tighten it on down, and we're good to go.Now, the great thing about it, being that it's aluminum, it's super lightweight so that makes it easy for us to manipulate it and get it over the roof, and don't have to worry about it coming in contact with the roof and potentially scratching the paint. We do have locking cores on each corner of our rack. Also, the tool to tighten it down is stored inside.

Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be test fitting the Thule Sonic XXL rooftop cargo box. It offers 22 cubic feet of storage space, comes in a nice silver. Its part number is TH636S. We've got the Thule Rapid Crossroads roof rack system that we've already installed on the Cherokee so we're going to begin our test fit by placing our cargo box right up onto our load bars. We found in picking it up, it's good to have a hand just slightly in front of the lock and then one on the other side just slightly behind it. That is going to help you to balance a little bit when you're picking up a larger box such as this. Now the feet on the Sonic are designed to hang out of the bottom of the box so this is going to be the best time to get those lined up so they'll go around our load bars. Going to go to the rear, give it just a little push forward; also make sure it's centered, which it is.

Couple neat features about it is it does extend, this being the shortest distance, but it also extends to meet your wider boards, as you can see there. Another cool feature about it is it does have the Flip-Fit brackets, which if you flip them and turn them around they fit smaller bars. If you flip it this way it will fit a wider bar. Really nice feature, makes it quick and easy to get it onto your vehicles no matter what kind of bars you have. As you can see, we've already got one installed and we're going to be putting part number TH811 up on the back end of this vehicle and getting our board up here so you can see how it all fits, looks, and so you can test it on the ride.
